  • can we put something other than chrome in this

  • can this run android and be used as a TV Box ?
Can this load apps from the play store ?

If it runs kodi, vlc and Netflix, Iview, it would ne a nice TV box as it has USB 3.0

No Android app support is planned for the HP Chromebox. You can run Netflix and iview from a browser, but not Kodi. Pretty sure you can get a Linux build or install Crouton on it but not really ideal for a TV Box.

  • +Delivery (which appears to be ~$14)

  • I wonder which one should I choose? this or Xiaomi tv box?

    • mecool m8s pro plus if you can still find one.

  • I have the asus equivalent, and you can flash it with custom firmware which means you can install pretty much anything apart from windows on it.

  • Subtotal $119.00
    Shipping $14.00
    Surcharge $2.66

5 year old cpu means no 4k support

    • https://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox says:

Capability wise, the Haswell ChromeBoxes fully support hardware accelerated H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1 video playback at up to 2160p24/p30 (4K), proper 24p output, and full 7.1/HD audio bitstream output.

But I just want it to run Bionic Beaver, so 4k not required for me.

      • Didn't they still have issues with 24p then?

      • What do you use Bionic Beaver for???

        • Everything. Still have to run Windows at work, but at home it's Linux or Android.

  • Does this run Android Apps natively?

has anyone ever had the items ordered from this mob delivered? I have tried to purchase 2 recently listed bargains from this store. Both times, the transaction went through and my card was charged. The next morning, I receive an email saying it's been cancelled…

I feel like the great bargains listed on this site are nothing more than click-bait

    • You warned us and you were right! Just looked at the order on their site:

      Ordered: 1
      Shipped: 0
      Refunded: 1

No emails at all, no contact, WTF?

  • Is this SSD upgradable?

    • Almost never in a Chromebox. You've got the card slots though, so booting from Linux on an SD card would work if that's what you are aiming for, giving you that extra space, and ignoring the internal storage completely.

  • I've got a different brand Chromebox and they are a bargain for a home linux server, including a NAS that can saturate a gigabit link.

  • Checked on StaticIce today:

    $114.10 www.technopolis.com.au
    $116.52 www.eyo.com.au/home.php

Looks like Technopolis also has the lowest total price including surcharge and shipping of $126.50, but I didn't proceed to checkout so can't confirm 100%.

I'm wondering if I should cancel my order and go with Technopolis…..
