  • Any deals on COB Gimbal downlights?

    • Hi mate, you can consider the Cougar Predator 12W COB LED Downlight that is currently on sale for $19.97. It is an excellent architectural grade downlight with a premium build quality. It is on run-out sale.

      • Whoa - CRI ~ 97 - so this is basically at Halogen standard for light quality?

        • Yes mate! It is exceptionally high CRI at this price.

      • Not showing $19.97. Can I place the order over the phone at that price?

Just a tip for anyone buying lights.
    I saw on YouTube …
Turn on your mobile camera….Point it at the light and if you see the light flicker real bad, it kinda bad for eyes….In terms of frequency too high or too low

So test it out if you are installijg alot of them

Not sure if it is true or not.

  • Hi Rep,

One of my friend got this model( Martec 12W-Gamble )from your Browns Plains store and when I went to his place he complained and showed me that they are flickering badly except at 100% brightness with a dimmable switch. Is it to do with the LED driver or to do with wiring(It's brand new house). Do you know how to fix it? I want to buy 53 of them to my house that I'm building and want to make sure what's the cause for it before pulling the trigger.Thank you in advance.

      Hi Crocbgn,

Thank you for your message. There are generally 4 factors causing the flickering of LED downlights, such as the Martec Genesis.

      • Ripple signal issue

Some areas of Queensland and NSW are prone to what is called ripple injection issue. This issue is most notably shown as periodic flickering at regular intervals, such as in the evening or early morning. This is caused by electricity suppliers broadcasting ripple signals on the mains cabling for off-peak electric hot water systems and street lighting. These high-frequency signals are received by all consumers connected to the grid in that area irrespective of whether they have tariff changing equipment installed in their switchboard or not.

These are regular periods of LED downlights flickering of 10 – 15 mins duration spread over an hour or more. This typically occurs in the late evening or afternoon and is normally only noticeable on lights controlled by dimmers. Most often the flickering of the lights is only noticeable when the lights are dimmed, the more dimmed the lights are the more noticeable the flickering is.

Solution: Install a load correction device such as the Clipsal 31LCDA Load Correction Device should fix the problem.

      • Incompatible dimmers and LED drivers

Make sure the dimmer and the LED downlight is fully compatible (ie from the same brand). A lot of our customers have had success with Diginet dimmers as well as they offer better dimming performance. Do not use older dimmers to dim LED lights.

      • Improperly wired dimmers

A simple check of the wiring and making sure everything is tight may reduce flickering

      • Overloaded dimmers

All dimmers have a minimum and maximum rated load. Make sure the dimmers are not overloaded or underloaded, or flickering may occur.

Please ask your friend to get in touch with our Browns Plains store and we will try our best to solve his downlights flickering issue. Thanks!

      • Thank you for your reply. I'll inform him. Do you have any deals for CCT LED down lights?
        Cheers

  • How does this downlight differ from other downlights? I see there are some downlights that have a much lower RRP.

  • How long does it usually take for orders to be fulfilled? I ordered an item on Monday but the order status hasn't changed from processing.
