  • Finally a camera phone worth having under 1k! Bummer that I have already spent too much on other cameras.

  • After originally loving them i can't recommend the iconX. Had to take Samsung to VCAT to get a refund over a design flaw.

What flaw would that be? I've been using it for 5 months and I've not noticed any big issues.

        Same issue as detailed here:

        https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpa…

Basically massive reduction in the audio in one earbud due to moisture clogging a sponge-like piece inside the bud. Note this was in normal use, no exposure to water. In that thread Samsung US replaced them but here they wanted to charge me almost $100 repair fee after I'd owned them 2 months. The tribunal sided with me and I got a full refund. Samsung Aus were terrible to deal with.

    • That's very unfortunate. Why is Samsung so difficult to deal with?

    • +1

Do note that this is the 2018 model which is newer than the first-gen one you had problems with.

FWIW, I've had ear wax clog my expensive wired IEMs in the past. No water involved.

I haven't had any problems with my IconX 2018 so far.

      • Mine was the second gen model. It looks like natural moisture (from the wax) is making its way through the speaker grill and clogging the sponge-like white thing inside.

After I won the case I took the grille off and removed the white thing and the sound was restored. I do believe this is therefore a design issue, if it can't cope with naturally occurring moisture.

Maybe you will be lucky, as I said I loved these buds before the issues. Its probably down to the individual as to how much moisture you produce - I do tend to get a lot of wax in my ears.

        • Mine was the second gen model.

oh, the post you linked to was from July 2017 while the second gen model was released around November 2017.

I do believe this is therefore a design issue, if it can't cope with naturally occurring moisture.

Unfortunately it is a problem that commonly affects in-ear style earphones. All my higher-end IEMs come with a cleaning tool with a wax loop and brush. If you have lots of wetter earwax, you're definitely going to have problems with IEMs whatever the brand.

        • @eug:

I bought mine in December 2017, the issue is the same as described (on the previous model) in that thread. The later posts refer to the newer model too I believe. Mine went wrong in early Feb.

  • Have had the P20 Pro down to ~$820 on a previous deal. Would rather wait.

    • link ?

        • Official Australian Stock vs Grey Import with no Manufacturers warranty

        • @OzSikh:

          As mentioned in their ad.

          '2 year warranty'

'Peace of mind with a free extended warranty locally serviced in Australia.'

        • @holla4adollar: I'd be interested to see if a grey market warranty can match or beat an official local warranty. I've been given replacement Samsung and HTC phones in the past, rather than getting mine repaired.

        • @holla4adollar:

          locally serviced in Australia.

by Seller (third part repairer) not through Manufacturer

          That’s the key difference!!

  • Amazing phone, so recommend it. It's not the best price ever, but it's pretty good and still pretty new.

  • Too bad, these are pink earbuds. Groupon also has a deal for pink ones: https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/kuller-11
I will keep waiting for black ones.

  • Hi all, have they fixed the issue with google maps being super laggy and unusable on the p20 pro yet? I want this phone but no google maps is a deal breaker
