Charisma is the PITS! Thanks for sharing your story.

    • I just got this reply from Matt
"Unfortunately having an appointment already booked and then deciding not to go through with the treatment does not constitute being unable to redeem your Scoopon and thus we can't process your request for a refund.

While we understand this isn't the outcome you desired we have acted accordingly in line with our terms and conditions."

Im Not Sure if he cant read or what…

      I sent the Following back

"Matt, Please read my email properly!
I could not go through with the appointment, because I needed medication beforehand or the the lip liner tattoo was going to break!! Would you ‘constitute’ that as the service Scoopon was offering? Having a broken tattoo line on your face? I don’t think so.. Through No fault of my own, I was not given the information correctly by either Scoopon Or Charisma House Of Beauty.

Stop making ridiculous excuses, and do what you are supposed to do according to your FAQ and terms and conditions

Again I will write it out for you

12.7. If you have any complaints relating to a provider whose goods or services have been promoted through the website, please bring this to both the provider’s and Scoopon's attention as soon as possible. Whilst Scoopon is not legally liable to you, in relation to any claim you may have against a provider whose goods or services have been promoted through the website, Scoopon will use its reasonable endeavours to try and satisfactorily resolve any dispute you may have with any such provider.

“If you can't redeem your Scoopon because the company can't provide the good or service we'll refund your money.”

You have NOT at all acted accordingly in line with your terms and conditions

I will be filling out this paperwork from the bank to withdrawal the transaction on the 7/03 For $138, I tried to do this nicely, because I know businesses get a bad reputation from the banks when this process is gone through – but your not co-operating at all

I will also be posting this all over the net – Just to let everyone know not to deal with scoopon and stick with the other coupon companies who do the right thing, and genuinely want to keep their customers.
You have just lost about 10 customers who would have spent $1000’s more with your company
      "

I suppose they are all talk - for all the people out there who have problems like this I recommend you call your bank and do a reversal on the transaction - Dont waste your time trying to contact Scoopon- They dont want to help, They just want you to go away. Your bank will always put you first, and they have a special department now for things like this - Enough Complaints, maybe it will force Scoopon to start trading properley.

      • Lodge a complaint with WA Consumer protection. It's easy. Get the form online, print it, fill it in, send it in.

      • Hi, I have recently bought a scoopon for charisma at whitfords for cosmetic eyeliner tattooing but have since found several bad reviews about them. I have got a booking scheduled in a couple of weeks but am now a bit hesitant about getting it done based on reviews read. Do you know if I can get my bank to do a reversal without having to have a bad experience first?

        • I sincerely doubt it, but you can try. They really seem to cut corners with scoopon customers. I wasn't happy with the service I got and I know from here that others were also dissatisfied.

        • +1

Well you could ask your bank but I doubt it. I asked mine and they said that it wasn't possible to reverse a charge but you can lodge a dispute. This requires filling out a form and a $12 fee to the bank for their time (bankwest). They waive the fee if the transaction being disputed has not been authorised by the cardholder and has in fact been debited in error. The fee stands if the transaction proves to have been legitimately authorised by a party listed on the account.

Cause for a reversal would generally be for cases where you have not received the goods or services for which you have paid, or if the goods were faulty, or were not as described.

I would contact scoopon and ask them what you should do. A tattoo is pretty permanent; you can't just suck it up like a bad meal or massage.

        • I have sent an email to scoopon to see if they've had any complaints about this company. If they are actually get back to me and give me an honest answer then I'll see if I can get out of it. Thanks for your comments.

  • does anyone have a contact # for scoopon? their email replies are ridiculous!

Just some info on a Scoopon I bought with Brian's Home Repairs in Perth.

Its for handyman services, a plumber or an electrician. I went to book a plumber yesterday and was told I cant use it until January 2012.

I suggested to the guy that waiting 5 months for a plumber or an electrician wasnt really reasonable and that these services are usually required within a week or so in order to fix a problem. He gave me the "thats the way it is" spiel and I let him know I'd be taking it up with Scoopon.

They replied within 2 days denying my request for a refund saying

"All Scoopons are sold subject to availability, as Scoopon does not manage the redemption process, we are unable to guarantee that you will be able to make a booking on your most desired date.

In line with our standard terms and conditions, we are unable to offer a refund of your purchase cost."

So I'll fill out the form at WA consumer protection and see how I go.

I bet they are available to non scoopon customers.

    • +1

Dear me. Just when I don't think it can get any worse, I see this.

At least you went to CP. Good luck.

    • +1

Well Scoopon had a change of heart and have agreed to refund me.

  • +2

It just seems like scoopon goes out and find these merchants, do these dodgy ridiculous deals and HOPE that the customers will just go away.
Remember most of these group buying website. (scoop on probably included) keeps the money for unredeemed vouchers. so why would they want to help you. they would rather wait and drag it on so it can go pass the validation dates. Then they get to keep 100% of money without paying the merchant.

It is sometimes hard to find comments as it is now three pages long.

    Hi Scoopon,

I am now having to resort to trying to reach you via Ozbargain as I have sent 4 emails and have waited patiently for over 48hrs to hear back from you and still I have not heard ANYTHING. My first ticket ID was (#NZD-779906) and my second one is (HWS-684713).

I bought 2 vouchers for the $19 summaglo makeup class and booked in for a session for my friend and I way back in the initial months when the voucher was released (Feb/Mar) for Sat 10th Sep 10am. I rang on Monday (3pm Perth time) to confirm my booking and was told that my booking was for Friday 9th Sept at 10am. Now I KNOW that they booked that incorrectly as I work 9-5pm Mon-Fri (and don't have RDOs) so would NOT have booked a session that I cannot go to (it is even written in my diary as the 10th Sept @ 10am). The girl I spoke to was less than accommodating and advised that they are booked out all Saturdays UPTO Jan 2012 (the only day that I can make it to a session). This is ridiculous and VERY poor customer service considering it is their fault that whoever took the initial booking, booked me in for the wrong day.

There was no apology nor any options for fitting us in. She said we can fit 1 of you in, but not both which really defeats the purpose of buying the 2 vouchers so that we could go together .I've done the right thing and booked 6 months in advance to ensure I got my weekend booking and to have them turn around and say I booked for a session that I can't possibly even go to is appalling and unacceptable.

I do not want to go to a place where customer service is so lacking, I've tried quite a few beauty salons via scoopon and they have always been great. I would really appreciate a refund for BOTH vouchers as I have no interest in ever going there. Also, do you have a page where you can write reviews about deal provides and our experiences with them? I would love to leave feedback on this deal provider.

Your prompt response would be appreciated as I've seen your response time on forums have been quite quick.

    Warm Regards,

I don't think we should have to mention that we have a scoopon voucher when we book a service. We should just book the service and then present them the voucher when they are done. It seems like the only way businesses will give you a booking before the voucher expires and the only way they will do a good job ie what the voucher says and not a rush job with poor customer service

Hi everyone, i have had problems with redeeming my scoopon dining voucher and thought i would google to see if anyone else had issues, what an understatement!!! The restaurant was Versachi Pizzeria in Toorak Rd South Yarra, i would never go there, when they called they asked if i had a voucher, i said yes, and they said they were booked up for the next 3-4 weeks. My voucher is until December, so i am early, but i asked if i don't use my voucher can i book, and the reply was yes, so basically they are wanting us to all plan 3-4weeks in advance in the hope many won't use their voucher. Like everyone else, no response to my email to scoopon!!! From now on i will only use living social, they must investigate their businesses because i have never had an issue.

    • +1

Living Social have had issues, but they take care of them with goodwill gestures and refunds.

      • Cudo do the same thing. Issues will inevitably happen but it's the way the deal provider handles it that matters. Offering poor service leads to more complaints and thus, probably hurts a company more than if they refund people.

  • Hi people

I am in WA am am wondering if I should lodge a complaint with ACCC or WA consumer protection?

I have emailed scoopon 15 times with my original no. quoted. I have even told them I will be lodging a complaint with ACCC and still no response.

They are the most appauling company. I have even had much better service from the other smaller coupon companies. I will never buy from scoopon again and will definitely be taking action - even if they eventually respond!

I can't beleive a company can just take take take and offer no customer service.

Appauling company- should be ashamed and stopped. I think I will also be writing in to A Current Affair as the only segments on these programs have been about how much you save (and yes you do) not about the problems we all seem to be facing.

And YES scoopon, I have contacted [email protected] about this 15 times!!!

And you're still wondering if you should act? I'd hate to see what you would do in an emergency!

      • I do not understand your attempt at a joke. Are you suggesting it is taking me a long time to act- I only posted this the other day???

I am not wondering IF I should act - I am acting. My question was in regards to WHERE I should lodge the complaint.

Anyone know where the best place to lodge a complaint is?

After all the deals I have used, I get shafted by 1 company and no help from Scoopon…

Ive already made contact with OCBA & ACCC… they were quite interested with my story.

I wont EVER be using Scoopon ever again because I cant trust they they will do the right thing and of course neither will all my friends, family and co-workers… and we normally spend quite a bit…. Scoopons loss really…

    • +1

I know I was a little surprised given they seem to be the biggest one - yet I have always had better service from the tiny ones which I was worried about buying from. Scoopon really does seem to be the worst from reading these reviews. It's a shame that one company gives the rest a bad name.

I also had this conversation with some friends and they said the same about scoopon Vs other coupon companies.

  • +3

I am having similar issues with 2 vouchers from scoopon. They can book me if I pay with cash, but they don't have availability for scoopons. Therefore the coupons don't fit purpose and I would like to be refunded. Sccopon offered me a credit but that is not acceptable. It seems this needs to be reported to ACCC, because the business model Sccopon is implementing clearly affects the rights of the consumers.

    • +2

What is wrong with these vendors? You already paid them, they have your "cash". Quite frankly voucher holders should be the priority as they already have your money. I cannot understand why these businesses go on Scoopon etc. if they cannot provide reasonable service.

    • "It seems this needs to be reported to ACCC"

      So, have you done that?

I too will never buy Scoopon again and will highly recommend that my friends DON"T buy from Scoopon.

I've been trying to redeem two vouchers for a year.

The supplier has admitted they overbooked and originally put me on a waiting list.

I bought the vouchers in good faith that i could use them in the year, and have been told that the earliest i can use them in in one years time 2 years from date of purchase and i won't even be in the state then).

Scoopon have been rude and offered no help.

Matt from Scoopon simply said that the suppliers fault and they don't take any responsibility.

I'm about to make a complaint to consumer protection and am thinking about calling today tonight about this as i know that may people are tired of Scoopon and their poor business practice and customer service.

Has anyone actually had a positive experience with Scoopon?

  • I've fulfilled 3 Scoopon vouchers with no dramas, I have 2 more I've yet to book in and 1 I'm having some trouble with unfortunately. This is a Melbourne Scoopon for company Health & Beauty on Flinders. The company doesn't answer the phone or respond to emails. I even took the liberty of going into the store (which is fairly inconvenient as it's in a very busy area for parking), and there was no one to be found. They were obviously doing treatments so no one was on the desk. I understand they are busy, but to not get back to you in 10 days I feel is unacceptable. I've contacted Scoopon via email who provided some new contact numbers, but these too go to answering machine. I have replied to Scoopon today asking for a refund, so we'll see what happens. In case anyone from Scoopon is reading this, my ticket number is VIP-928412.

  • +1

I am also experiencing terrible customer service from Scoopon. I purchased a beauty treatment for $39 which lasts for 6 months. I tried to make a booking with 4.5 months still left on the voucher and told the beauty salon was completely booked out for the next 5 months. I read the terms and conditions on Scoopon website and it clearly states that if the provider can not deliver the service within a reasonable timeframe to contact Scoopon. Who would think you need to book a beauty appointment 5 months in advance! I have tried to contact Scoopon with numerous emails (unable to call them as they do not provide a phone number) and surprisingly no response from Scoopon. I am a member of quite a few of Scoopon’s competitors, such as cudo living social etc and never experienced problems with any of them. I am very disappointed with Scoopon, I will be disconnecting my membership with them and will definitely not be recommending them to anyone.

    • +1

If you have contacted Scoopon then you should post your ticket ID in your comment. You should also check your spam folder for a response from them.

I have not had any problems getting refunds from Scoopon for this type of problem. If the vendor books out and you cannot book your appointment at any time of the day or night during the validity period then you will get a refund.

    • +1

Yes, contact scoopon right away. You should book your beauty things out when you get them, even if it is 8 months down the track.

      • +1

        My ticket id is:IGU-287900.

Unfortunately they won’t allow me to book an appointment after my voucher expires. My voucher doesn’t expire until 16 March 2012 and they told me they are fully booked out until then. I had a work colleague call the beautician to make the same appointment (but paying, not using Scoopon) and the beautician Bodiology at Bondi Junction told her they had appointments available on 1st Dec 2011. What a joke!! It seems they are taking bookings for customers who are paying full price but anyone with a voucher can not book. I will never be recommending Bodiology or Scoopon to anyone.

    • I am sure they are lying about being booked out and that they are just limiting the slots that they are giving to scooponers.

  • +1

My ticket id is:IGU-287900. I have given up on waiting for Scoopon to respond and taking it to the ACCC.

    • May also be worth contacting Fair Trading: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/About_us/Online_services/L…

    • +1

The ACCC cannot really help you to be honest. I would definitely lodge it with the ACCC but you won't get them contacting scoopon on your behalf or anything like that. This is the response I received from them on one occasion:

"The ACCC does not offer an individual dispute resolution service; therefore, if you wish to pursue a remedy for loss or damages as a result of wrongly accepting payment, and you are unable to resolve this matter with Scoopon through either verbal or written communications, you may wish to contact the Department of Consumer Affairs can be contacted on 1300 558 181 or www.consumer.vic.gov.au. Local fair trading or consumer affairs agencies can suggest a range of strategies that you may wish to explore to resolve your concerns. They can also provide information on how to make a claim through the small claims court or tribunal should this become necessary."

I find it odd that scoopon hasn't gotten back to you. We've contacted scoopon on >10 occasions and have always recieved a response.

  • I've just joined Scoopon & have a good experience so far. Got a $1 for 1-month membership to Contours Gym, 3 sessions with the personal trainers, unlimited access to Zumba & outdoor activities. They treat me like a queen, as if I'm a full-paying member. It's great. I realize I'll probably get the hard-sell to sign-up at the end, but I won't be paying $175.

  • +2

I have asked for a refund, but was not given one. I have asked for another refund just tonight. That better go through, or I'll start to get angry…

I have tried to book soooo many times that it's not funny. About 35 different dates, and now they are full till expiry of 8th December.

The Treasury on King William would have taken my booking if I didn't use a Scoopon. Once, they said they had a table at a certain time on a certain date, for two people, and I said I'd take it… then he asked if I had a Scoopon, and then told me that he could no longer take my booking. He literally cancelled my booking right there on the phone because I had a Scoopon. All other times, upon booking, I was asked if I had a Scoopon. I went into the restaurant and saw in the diary 'Scoopon Full'…. he explained that they were still taking bookings, just not for Scoopons.

In the mean time, I have bitched on OCAU, whirlpool, atomicmpc, facebook scoopon site, and now OzBargain… as well as telling some friends and family. I'll definitely be talking at the office watercooler tomorrow.

Talk about bad publicity, for Scoopon and The Treasury.

Hell, I might go out and find some other forum sites. I signed up to OzBargain to make this complaint. Like, literally, signed up less than 5 minutes ago just for this purpose.

    RE: [#QOM-825571]: Redemption of Scoopon‏

  • Hi all, I am new here, but this helped me as I tried to book a simulator ride for my father, and to explain and share my experience with Scoopon: a week before the voucher expired I was told they were fully booked and they would call me if there were any vacancies. Long story short, no phone call and many emails later, i asked the dept of fair trading to look into it.

The dept of fair trading did look into it, but told me that I should not have tried to book it, a week before the voucher expired, no refund for me, and sorry.

It goes to show that common sense isnt applied here: Who pockets my money when I did not recieve any services and (although a week before expiration) kept within the validity of the voucher.

Its only $50 which means little to me, but hopefully this forum will generate some following and gather enough support where this sort of thing is noticed.

Advice for the above: go to dept of fair trading and lets get enough people together to get everyone to recognize that this is not fair trading.

    • +2

I just lodged my complaint about Scoopon to Fair Trading.

  • +1

Cindernat I have also been having problems trying to book with Health and Beauty on Flinders. There number seems disconnected and they don't respond to my emails. I have have just put a complaint into Scoopon so we will see what happens but I'm not holding my breath. Good to know that I'm not the only one having issues with this provider as I don't think it would have mattered if I tried to book as soon as I got my scoopon or now as it seems they are unwilling to provide the service to scoopon holders. Why would these businesses even bother going on scoopon if they are not going to make the time for the vouchers and they don't receive any money until the voucher is redeemed. It just gives the company a bad name and wastes peoples time and money.

I purchased 3 vouchers for this place as gifts for my sisters so we could have a nice relaxing day together and if I don't get my $150 bucks back I will definately be taking it further.

  • It seems I too am joinging the long list of complaints about Scoopon. I purchased 2 vouchers from Scoopon for lunch 'or' dinner at the Atomic Bar in Williamstown Victoria for a set menu at $49 each for a total of $98 for the intention of having dinner with friends. I purchased these in September. I rang the Atomic Bar twice in October and was unable to obtain a booking for dinner on any Thursday - Sunday which were my preferred times. I tried again in November when I was bit more flexible and was told that there was no availability for Dinner at all for the duration of the expiry of the Voucher in December, it is of note that I could make a booking at the restraurant for dinner if I 'didn't' have a scoopon voucher. The restaurant said they only had one booking available on a Tuesday for lunch during the working week. Some 25km from my place of employment. No weekend lunches were available.

I contacted Scoopon and asked for assitance with a dinner booking or a refund for both vouchers as although I was aware it was subject to availability and that they could not garaunteed me my preferrred dates, there was 'no' availability on some of the 20 dates I tried and there are now no available dates for dinner at all.

Scoopon replied saying we are unable to guarantee that you will be able to make a booking on your most desired date. In line with our standard terms and conditions, they are unable to offer a refund of my purchase cost. As there was a booking available I could gift it to a 'lucky' friend for the one specific lunch available on a weekday.

It seems from numerous attempts to book dinner I have been unsuccessful, if the voucher specifically said lunch only I would not have purchased the voucher. While this does not mean Scoopon must guarantee that I am able to make a booking on what they refer to as my “most desired” date surely the must garauntee me a booking. The lack of availability of bookings for Scoopon holders only, suggests that Scoopon and the operator should have adjusted the validity dates and amount of vouchers available for purchase accordingly.

I have had 2 emails rejecting my refund. I am not satisfied with the outcome of my concerns and have lodged a complaint with the ADMA and will lodge one with fair trading also. The limitations that have been placed on me which weren't stated in the fine print is surely not morally correct. If the service was not provided to me, where has my money gone?

This is my first experience with them and I will be spreading the word - avoid them at all costs, scams!!!

Bunch of jokers, the lot of them.

Does anyone know whether there would be any legal repurcussion not pulling out the scoopon till after you've eaten. I know there's the basis of contract (ie. scoopon states you must inform of voucher when booking), but I also understand that there is legislation to prevent unfair clauses for the consumer, and when stating you have a scoopon severly limits your ability to use it, that seems unfair.

      /end rant

      • +2

What seems unfair is that is generally people like me who look to scoopons, as being a single income earner household with 4 children, deals like this look appealing and I am always looking for ways to have these luxuries within our tight budget. So in being taken advantage of with misleading advertsing it is families like mine that suffer, I am so appalled that I have had to donate $100 to a company who look at profit as the number one priority. They need to realise the impact they have in taking advantage of and not assisting people like me. I cant understand what they get out of not giving me a refund. They wouldn't need such stringent 'Terms and Conditions' if their deals with morally correct.

    • +1

I have to say I really dislike the scoopon "most desired date" BS. What about a "reasonable date". You purchased the voucher because it said you would have the choices of dinner or lunch (on the weekend). If it had said - weekday lunches only then I'll bet you would never have bought it. The point is that the scoopon said you would have a choice, but upon trying to redeem it in a reasonable amount of time you find that no, in fact that was false advertising as the business has decided that they don't intend to give you choices.
This is a breach of terms and conditions on the vendor’s part. Terms and conditions are to protect the purchaser and the vendor, though scoopon often only misuses them.
It is sick that these vendors take your money and then don't let you book with a scoopon, but you have to tell them you have one! Try calling up and booking a table for 4 for dinner. When they book you in call them back in a few days and let them know you have a scoopon. If they cancel your booking then you can contact scoopon, consumer trading etc. etc. with evidence that the vendor is being a total scammer.

      • +1

Is it the vendors or scoopon that get your money, my understanding is that the vendor presents the vouchers to scoopon and gets a cheque at the end of the deal, they don't have my voucher so therefore it is scoopon who gets my money. Although I will be writing to the restaurant and informing them of my disgust!!

        • +1

Scoop on encourages venues to sell without limit because the venue will be overwhelmed and not honor all vouchers, when this occurs scoopon makes more profit. The venues themselves lose no skin by not honoring the vouchers and they are sick of customers if they sell too many.

    • I also bought that place, I also have the same issue, I have started a complaint to scoopon, I will escalate to ACCC if I don't get a decent response. But basically the management started to not accept any vouchers because they presumably were bleeding too much.

After being unsuccessful I made a complaint to ADMA, I received a reply to them saying that they hoped I could resolved it with scoopon and they have passed my complaint on and gave them 15 days to contact me and sort out the problem. I receive a response from scoopon the next day.

We have received an your complaint via ADMA and we will be cooperating fully with them to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

So that we are not doubling up on any communications, Scoopon will be speaking directly to ADMA, who is acting on your behalf.

Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

    Kind Regards,
    Team Scoopon

Can you believe they don't have the decency to contact me personally. Arrogant, uncaring and disrespectful sums up their entire customer service department.

I agree about Scoopon providing terrible service.
I bought a Scoopon for a beauty treatment at a place Sparadise in Rivervale, WA and they would not provide the full service as quoted in the Scoopon because they had issues with claiming their money from Scoopon. Sparadise told me to get a refund from Scoopon because they said it wasn't their problem.
Scoopon turned around and told me that it wasn't their issue because the voucher had expired. They would not assist me at all or refund my money at all even though they obviously had not paid the provider for my voucher. Extremely disappointed with Scoopon. Since then I am quite hesitant in buying anything from Scoopon.

  • I had a terrible experience with Cut Above (WA) too - for my first appointment I was 10 min late so they would not provide half the service (cut my hair), the manager was sooooo rude and took ages to actually make an appointment as they do not want to take Scoopon bookings. I complained to Scoopon but they just said to persevere.

Looks Divine, Perth CBD have advised that they are not honouring bookings after the expiry date even though I have been on the waiting list for 6 months and called constantly.

Finally, The View is also not accepting bookings as they are under new management and Scoopon Customer Service have advised that they will give me a credit but not a refund.

I don't want a credit as I don't want anymore Scoopons. Surely if a company will not deliver they need to reimburse you your money??? Just incase you ask Scoopon, my id is 2418659204190236-1.

I used to LOVE Scoopon. So disappointed in the lack of service. Used to be a repeat purchaser.

    • That's a shame about The View. They WERE good when I and at least one other ozbargainer went there.

    • +1

If you used a credit card to pay for anything other than the appointment that you were late for, simply advise scoopon that you'll be doing a chargeback?!

  • Thanks Geewhizz, will do as not really interested in a credit.

  • Great,
Got 2 Scoopon deals to Gambaros in Brisbane, called Gambaros and they basically told me there was a 6 month waiting list, I said my coupons expired in 2 months, they put the phone down!
I used to eat regularly at Gambaros, never again and Scoopon you are rip off artists, there should be a law to close you down and force you to repay all these bogus deals I am now reading about.
Why do these guys operate? - SIMPLE - our Governement and their departments HAVE NO TEETH - bunch of CH'ds
    Tsjomie

  • Received an email from Scoopon saying they will process two refunds, which will take 5 days to appear. Happy about that but also disappointed as I wanted to use both coupons.

  • -1

Yup the expiration of the coupons is the catch and they hide behind it in order to scam people.

At the end of the day you agreed to that condition.. so if everyone stops agreeing to buy these coupons then they will no longer exist.

I just got stung from a restaurant coupon, I think they over sold the coupon as I couldn't get a booking before it expired… so lesson learnt never buy from these guys again.. they would not refund the money. I have contacted Consumer Affairs in my State as this is a con.. the could not fulfill the order hence I should receive a refund.

    Power in numbers people!!

    Aussie Picker!

If you booked your restaurant meal early there wouldn't be a problem.
I've used over 100 vouchers and only had 2 problems both of which got resolved (1 refund, 1 late supply)
But by all means, b*tch and moan about expiry dates like a little girl. They are there for a reason.

    • robinsoa: I don't understand your point (apart from the foul language).

If someone does not provide you a service they should not have your money. As long as you have complied with all the conditions of a voucher you are entitled for a refund.

If a restaurant does not want many last minute bookings with vouchers, by all means spell it out on the voucher, i.e. bookings at least 4 weeks before expiry. But if they made the mistake not to spell that out they can't not serve you and keep your money.

  • Robinsoa
I have used loads of vouchers too. I think this forum is to speak to others who have had similar experiences or problems with online shopping. With the two vouchers that I raised here in this chat, I contacted the company 6 months prior to the expiry date and was put on a waiting list as the had no availability until expiry date. I called regularly to check progress. They were too full to be able to accommodate my booking made well in advance, hence I want a refund from Scoopon.

If you read the posts, you would see all have a valid and similar complaint. Personal insults is not required. Australianpickers is not "b*tch and moaning like a little girl:".

  • I cannot believe that in this short 2 months I had numerous troubles with these group buy vouchers.

Lodged 2 requests #17223 and #15268 both are left unanswered…
I am waiting for a refund on 'The Big Chef' in Vic Park for this deal (http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/2963/just-39-for-120-worth-o…)

Firstly, I couldn't make call in despite the restaurant is operating. Managed to call through but all the scoopon available seats are taken up, so meaning no seat until my voucher expires. I called 4 months in advance, mind you!

So after my break I decided to call again, 7 times on Saturday and 3 times on Monday. No answer. It's starting to get frustrated.

Then I decide to look for the review at Urbanspoon (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/338/1589136/restaurant/Perth/Big…)
Oh my gosh, the reviews are brutal and the restaurant seems horrible!

So now I am demanding for a refund on vouchers (expires in May 2012) I didn't use. But they are not responding!

We used a voucher at big chef and were quite pleased. The kebabs were the best we have ever had. The chicken was so tender and unbelievably flavourful. Normally I leave food, but we took the uneaten kebabs home. I would buy again, if I didn't have so many other vouchers to plow through.

      • Wow! Thanks Voteoften =)
Your input is always appreciated! Maybe I can give it a few more tries before giving up and ask for refund?

The frustration of them not picking up the phone is quite depressing. I just want to book a table on the days that I am actually here in Perth and during the weekends. fingers crossed

        • +1

You should try to get in rather than ask for a refund. The belly dancer on Fri/Sat nights is good. They are now offering different prices for weekday vs weekend meals for new vouchers. Maybe you could mail them a note asking them to call you and tell them you want one of these four nights. No one ever sends notes via post, it might get you noticed.

According to some facebook page I got when I clicked the link to their JOI offer, here are their serving hours:

          Tue:

          2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

          Wed:

          1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

          Thu:

          12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

          Fri - Sat:

          10:00 am - 3:00 pm, 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

          Sun:

          11:00 am - 12:00 pm, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

So, you might try calling when they are actualy serving, which isn't often, during the week. Just an idea.

My story is above, but just wanted to report after several emails and knock backs from Scoopon. They would not budge and refused a refund. I made a complaint to the ADMA. The ADMA were great followed up everything and reported back to me that after giving their recommendations to Scoopon I should receive a call from them shortly.

2 days later I got a call from Scoopon announcing they would refund me. So if you are in the same situation as me, do not give up and persist and you should get your refund (when they are in the wrong). ADMA seems to be the place to go for your complaints. Restuarants can not sell vouchers and limit their use, they cant have tables available and turn scoopon customers away.

The last scoopon I buy!! Unprofessional and profit hungry company, when a company needs an outside body to order a refund something is wrong with its customer service. A continued relationship is not on their radar. So mine ends here.

    • Scoopon HAS stated on these forums that restaurants can not discriminate against voucher holders. If there are seats available, they must be made available to scoopon holders.

Recently I have seen more where weekend use costs more or is not available at all on weekends.

well i made a mistake and bought another scoopon to give them a second chance. i was wrong. the restaurant wont answer the phone and scoopon hasnt replied to my email yet again. buyer beware. they havent changed.

Joining the thread in hope Scoopon will get their act together. Purchased a scoopon for a restaurant, restaurant screens calls for scoopon users and denies bookings made with reasonable notice (> 1 week). Our latest booking we tried to make 17 days in advance, they emailed us back saying the next available booking was 7 weeks away!

I've called the restaurant to make bookings for the same date, and made the booking no problem. I've raised this issue with Scoopon but since providing email evidence of the restaurant's conduct there's been no response from Scoopon

This behaviour is ridiculous from both the restaurant and Scoopon. Just want our money back.

SCOOPON: IDEA FOR YOU TO HELP CLEAR UP COMPLAINTS AND IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Have it in the contract with the supplier along the lines of:
    1) You must accept a booking (or issue a full refund) if a customer cannot book on any given 10 valid dates provided by the customer to the supplier.
    2) an SLA that all suppliers must have a staffed mail inbox account, with inquiries/customer emails must be responded to within 5 working days.

    Cheers!

An example of a refund using the both above:
    - The customer emails the person to book on any of the following 10 dates.
    - The company fails to respond within the 5 day time frame.
    - Customer therefore has a right to obtain a refund.

You can also e.g. attach a penalty clause to the supplier should this happen (for loss of reputation and processing fees for handling the refund), which would also act as an incentive to reduce that occurrence.

Yes, you may get less suppliers willing to advertise, but your reliability, branding and customer service will go up by a huge amount, making those suppliers that do advertise that much more popular.

    • I think the terms and conditions on these deals with restaurants just need to be more clear. If the T&C state that booking priority will be given to non-ScoopOn holding customers then an informed decision can be made on the purchase of the ScoopOn.

The end consumer doesn't need to be concerned about penalties between ScoopOn and the vendor. ScoopOn just need to provide customer service and have a resolution system in place to make the process as expedient as possible.

This is the type of negligence that occurs when you let an industry self regulate.

SCOOPON, PUT UP A PHONE NUMBER. THIS IS TERRIBLE SERVICE. I WANT MY REFUND ALREADY.

  • +2

Ticket #24506 Scoopon, please provide me with a refund or a better option than call the vendor again. FFS they do not pick up.

  • Have tried a couple of these coupon restaurant meals now. I don't get it, I would think the whole idea is to attract new ongoing customers. Instead I get poor and reluctant service, a meal no where near what they described and and consequently poorer value than I could have got as a walk in paying full price. Entertainment book is a much better way to go.

Just want to share my story,

It's the peninsula nelson bay which I have called since January (Expires 2nd March) and they never had weekend bookings. As of today, after making more than 10 phone calls to the resort, and 3 emails to scoopon customer service, they now don't have any room available what so ever. They said I can downgrade to a motel room or pay additional $75 but I want the room which I have purchased, but they don't have it. Now not even weekdays. My voucher is still valid but they don't have any room to provide a service and they are not willing to put me to any other dates which is ridiculous. I can't use my valid voucher which hasn't even expired yet!!!

And few weeks ago, when I initially seeked for a solution through scoopon, they had system upgrade issue so my initial request was received but I didn't get their reply. (This issue was officially announced on scoopon website which I found out two weeks later). So I've sent another email again asking for an answer and they copy and pasted the previous email that they wrote to me, saying they have some upgrade rooms available, but it was way too late. So scoopon's system issue now made it impossible to get a booking. (If many people are affected by their system issue, it's more like a ACCC issue isn't it?)

Both scoopon and the resort have disappointed me to the extreme, I have given them few options to put me towards the off peak season, and they've rejected it. Seems like they're trying to avoid people redeeming vouchers, because back in January, they did have weekend rooms available but as soon as I mentioned the word "scoopon", they said they don't have any rooms left. They emphasised that scoopon customers must use the room advertised, but ironically they're now providing a downgraded motel room which is not part of the deal.

I've lodged a complaint to the office of fair trading today, will be inquiring ACCC to investigate further on the impact of scoopon's server issue. They seem to have record of emails from customers but haven't taken proactive action and only responded to those who complained again.

  • hi all - yes I did receive my refund from Scoopon.

Also - interesting article about Scoopon's commendable, pro-active response to the recent Air Australia collapse:

    www.powerretail.com.au/insights/scoopon-air-australia-collap…

    • Who are you, an employee of Scoopon, Amaysim, or NRMA? Thanks for all the advertisements you've been posting, I think I'll pass on them though. You never posted a problem about Scoopon, so why bother with the intro! Just get straight to the hard sell. Scoopon is wonderful! They give refunds out of the goodness of their tiny little shrunken heart! Everyone, just ask Scoopon when you have a problem, they will fly to the rescue! Hooray for Scoopon! Three cheers! I'll just go and buy a few more coupons and give myself more headaches!!!

  • Last year I purchased 2 vouchers for facials and 5 vouchers for pamper package. I never got an email confirmation for either, so I assumed that I didn't get the deal. This month I looked on their site to see what was available and when I went into my account, all of these vouchers were there and I didn't even know I had received them because I didn't hear from Scoopon at the time. The 5 pamper packages that cost me $29 each had since expired and the 2 facials that were $49 each had to be booked by January 2012.
I email Scoopon and told them that I didn't get an email confirmation for either of these so I didn't even know I had them. (I file all of my receipts for purchases). They basically shafted me and told me that I should have known they were in my account. A bit hard to know when I wasn't emailed after the sales.

They won't give me a credit and I have now lost $243 and they couldn't care less!!

    • Umm, didn't you notice the $243 charge on your credit card?

  • So far, I've been very lucky with all of my scoopon deals. They've all been fantastic value and up until recently I'd had no problem redeeming any of them. My first and only scoopon issue concerns 'The View', a restaurant in Fremantle WA. After trying several times without success to get a weekend booking over the telephone, I decided to visit the restaurant and accept any time they could give me. I was informed that this restaurant has changed management and that they won't be honouring any scoopons. The man at the desk told me to apply for a refund through scoopon. I contacted them on Friday and they responded with a ticket number. I was expecting the refund to automatically happen or to receive a credit in my account but after reading all your comments, I must admit I'm rather concerned. Did anyone else buy 'The View' restaurant vouchers. If so were you given a refund from scoopon? Also how long does it take for them to reply to ticket numbers? I'd be interested in your comments and will be sure to post my experience with scoopon on this site.

I'm just posting an update on my unredeemable scoopon voucher for 'The View' restaurant in Fremantle. Jeremy, from the scoopon customer service team responded to my concerns quickly, offering me an apology and a refund or credit to my account. I was very impressed with the way they handled things and I hope that everyone else has their issues resolved soon.

  • not sure if I am the only one here, have purchased a $49 voucher to Hermitage Double Bay via Scoopon and still can't get in contact with Hermitage to make a booking after emails (no replies) + call not answered.
Have also lodged complained twice with Scoopon and ask for refund, but was told that they don't offer refunds! plus voucher on my account have also 'deleted / went missing' in the 2nd instance. Scoopon is employing such tatic that they will use what ever methods for cover ups!
I have just lodge a complain with NSW fair trading and hopefully can have my money back. this is a warning to anyone who considering in buying from Scoopon.

  • I spend thousands a month on line and deal with Scoopon sister companys without problems but find Scoopon very hard to trust, Contact is very hard and their website is way to hard to understand.
Im still waiting to all my orders from early June but some of the text ive read Im not sure they will come.
The only item I got notification on delivery was the latest order.
I only but products not services, I paid and gave all delivery details but not sure if thats all I need to do?

I think I will stick to the proven Onliners like Deals direct and Graysonline, I will now only deal with sellers I can contact, Scoopon almost seem to hide.

  • It is such a disappointment! Scoopon as an experience is a waste of time. They know that restaurants have a validity period and the two week period leading up to their expiration there is no way of contacting the restaurant. The customer is no longer in the right, and the businesses no matter how they have treated the customer still get paid as though they have catered to the business need. It is so clear to see why business models like Scoopon will not last. They have a marketing mind, where a sale is more important than maintaining a relationship with their customer. It is the very reason to why the business model will fail and the very reason I will be writing an academic thesis on this notion. The more and more these group buying deals initiate business with these sorts of restaurants, the more people will be driven away - and it is a growing occurrence. Scoopon is not a firm that is set up with a business model to last, it is merely riding a phase in the e-commerce world. The customer service representatives don't actually realise the degree to which that they are killing their own business. Word of mouth is such a vital and powerful marketing tool, one that will and is having a fatal effect on their model.

My customer experience was horrible, and the dealing by the restaurant and Scoopon gave every inclination to why not to buy a voucher. The customer is no longer king, but the dollar sign
