how much is shipping to the ACT?

    • +2

AUSSIE FARMERS DIRECT IS A FREE* HOME DELIVERY SERVICE PROVIDING 100% AUSTRALIAN MADE AND OWNED FRESH PRODUCTS.
      *Minimum order quantities apply

  • Sweet.. haven't used them for a while but $20 off is not bad.

Found them to have good quality produce, although a little pricey compared to the local fruit and vege. I guess shipping is built into the cost of each item.

The produce is delivered in a bag early in the morning and lined with ice packs to keep it cool.

  • looks like just a Marketing gimmick…

I'm pretty sure that the milk and bread i buy is already made in Australia using Australian produce…

    • +1

Is it Australian Owned too? Where do the profits go?

    • I’m pretty sure that the milk and bread i buy is already made in Australia using Australian produce…

Yes but the farmer will be getting less money when you buy your milk from a supermarket compared to the farmer selling their produce at retail prices.

  • might be ok once with the $20 discount applied, but it looks to be expensive with a very limited range of goods to select from.

  • I am about to confirm my order but have not been presented with a $20 cash back or credit.

Do you know at what stage the $20 credit is applied?

  • I have used these guys in the past - while the produce was generally fresh and attractive, it is expensive compared to buying this stuff when you're doing your shopping

I found I prefer to hand pick my produce when I'm shopping, picking the best looking items that are in season and drawing inspiration from what's available. I found I missed that when I was simply delivered a box of mystery items every week.

    • and drawing inspiration from what’s available.

you get inspiration from milk & bread ???

      • they deliver fruits and vegetables - you reckon you go through minimum $30 of break and milk a week?

        • and meats, now

        • easily get through between, me the boss and 2 growing boys…

  • sounds like inspiration for food recipes, although the only one i know with those two ingredients is bread pudding!

Just called - the order must be over $30 and will show as a $30 charge on the final step. however, the "accounts department" will see the FFFO offer and apply the discount before the order is processed.

  • I trialled these guys a few months ago, but was disappointed by the size and variety of offerings in the hamper. The quality of produce was good, deliveries were punctual, and they were easy to deal with. However, the "value" of the pack was, in my opinion, nowhere near the $25 cost. Guess I can give them another shot as this offer also applies to inactive customers.

  • what do you get if you refer a friend on their website?

    • nothing

  • I've used these guys before too.

The pricing is pretty steep considering it is supposed to be "direct". Would be ok if you were a long way from the nearest supermarket I guess.

But the biggest problem for us was remembering to put the chiller bag out, and even then you had to remember to bring the stuff in from outside before it cooks, which isn't long on those hot summer mornings chiller bag or not.

    • I use them because for a while i didn't drive a car. I also found this a good way to ensure my vegetable intake and not be tempted to those 'nasty' supermarket aisles (or bottle shop next door lol).

  • How many kilos are in the $25 fruit package?
Seems like a green grocer prices rather than farm prices. Remembering wholesale is usually less than $1 a kilo.

    • +1

This is not supposed to be a wholesale service

  • Brilliant. Will buy some bread & such now, the fruit is a huge waste though.

    • +1

They don't deliver to Lalor, VIC? Wow. Fail.

      • Might be an opportunity for someone to buy a franchise in that area!

      • They also don't deliver to Melbourne (3000) or South Melbourne (3205). Shame. The guys here at work (who live in the sticks) use them and say the quality is good. Also nice to get an 'in season' box of veges every so often just for variety; saves having to think what to buy when shopping!

        • They do. My order is to 3205.

  • We use them and are pretty happy, their apple juice in particular is great, bread not great.

    • They now sell Wholegrain Sourdough, Ciabatta and White Sourdough gourmet bread loaves. I haven't tried their apple juice but their orange juice is great, fresh and not from concentrate.

  • .

  • They do not deliver to anywhere outside of Sydney in NSW - eg: GOSFORD, postcode: 2256

    Massive FAIL!

  • Thanks @tommyc. Just ordered 6 chicken breasts, 2l OJ, & 3l milk, delivered to North Melbourne, for $11.13. Good deal :)

But normally would be too pricey for me. ( Reminds me of pre-dot.com bubble days when some thought online ordered grocery deliveries might be the next big thing - with similar offerings 10 years later.)

I just rang them and the guy I spoke to said ONE OFF ORDERS ARE OK for the credit.

So best to phone in the orders (after working out what you want online).

  • well so much for a one off order of cheap sweet meats :P still its a good deal for someone who like's there milk delivered

    • +1

couldn't you just cancel your standing order as soon as you receive your first delivery?

  • Yes you could. But if you phone in your order the guy said there is no need.

I registered online, worked out what I wanted (so it added up to $30 and I got a 66% discount) .. then phoned in the order. That way you can discuss it with them and make sure the credit is applied to the first transaction.

ps. After the 66% discount they are not much cheaper than Aldi (so at full price there is no contest) … the main difference being they deliver .. apart from subjective questions of quality … and a slightly different range of produce.

    • -1

and sourced from Australian farmers - not a German multinational

      • +3

Most of Aldi's milk, bread and vegetables are sourced from Aussie farmers too.

        • Sourced perhaps but Aldi is not Australian owned.

    • True … the Germans are doing a much better job of retailing for the bargain-hunting CUSTOMER than the Aussie-owned (?) fat twins (& indeed in this instance the Aussie farmer when he charges directly). I cannot afford to pay double to have my staples delivered based on the seller's nationality (they don't charge me less because I'm Australian) - and neither can most people.

The model is too expensive - for me.

  • Received my delivery (they deliver between midnight & 7am) in my nice Aussie Farmers esky.

Very nicely done. Fresh milk, oj & chicken, delivered. :)

  • i phoned twice to check teh credit was applied to my account… the payment went through and no discount was given
