  • When I change the quantity to two the price goes to $10…

It's cause it's limited to 1 per household.

Ah I see. Thats going to stop me :-P

  • +2

    Still good for $2

  • Nice, I picked up a red one for my $160 EM350. I love OzBargain hahaha.

  • That's a crap deal… (that was my first reaction, until I read the fine print).

    Wait…what? $2? Cat6, SWEET! Free shipping! WOOHOO!

  • +5

1 per household makes this just plain annoying.

    • Yes fill up all the details and make the payment with your credit card details! I think 1 per hous. is just too limited. (also only 1 meter) but I like the different choice of colours

      • +1

do paypal and there's no cc details changing hands

I do agree it's a bit of a pain for just one, but the price is right and if you're an existing customer there's not really much effort required

        • I don't see paypal as payment options. (like "the express paypal" no need to fill up any thing almost)

        • I did mine through paypal - I did have to sign up and enter my shipping info though

@pasey25 Maybe - but it ensures there is enough stock at the discounted price for everyone.

  • how is this different from a normal ethernet cable? tks!

    • It's no different, it's just a normal ethernet cable :)

    • Well this article pretty much sums it all up: http://www.broadbandutopia.com/caandcaco.html Cat5 being the normal ethernet cable.

Well…you have SIX cats instead of the usual FIVE cats…comes with more 'meow'

Usually better quality and higher speeds possible.

the first line of the blurb with this deal reminds me of:

"Hi, I'm Troy McClure - you may remember me from such movies as ….."

Girl "Is my upper lip meant to bleed like this?"
      Troy "Probably."

    Hi warcom

    Thanks for the nice deal,
Just wonderign if there is any upcoming deals for a longer CAT6 cable (i.e. 5 or 10 meteres)??

    Cheers

  • 1M - too short unless you want to connect your desktop to the wall point right behind! Forgive me but this will not make any improvement on your home network unless you replace all Ethernet cables with CAT6 cables. Mixing CAT5 and CAt6 together won't make any noticeable improvement especially when all you do is adding a 1M cable to a network which has major CAT5 cabling.

    • Yes, it's prolly only good for patching the computer to the gigabit switch. Still, can't argue with the price.

this will not make any improvement on your home network unless you replace all Ethernet cables with CAT6 cables

The only improvements changing all your cables to Cat6 will make is the improvement to the bottom line your electrician.

Mixing CAT5 and CAt6 together won’t make any noticeable improvement

You do understand that the IEEE standard for gigabit Ethernet only requires Cat5 cable, not Cat5e or Cat6?

Cat6 cable is only needed if you want to operate in a 1000BASE-TX environment however because 1000BASE-TX has been a failure your equipment probably does not support it.

The only advantage of Cat6 and 1000BASE-TX is that only 2 pairs of wire are needed leaving the remaining 2 pairs in the Cat6 cable free for another use.

You can use ordinary Cat5 with gigabit ethernet and get gigabit speeds, all 4 pairs in the cable are used and that is the only difference.

  • Good deal but sadly 1m is way too short to be useful to me. Great price though.

  • Brilliant, thanks for the great deal =]

If you want to buy multiple 1m Cat6 cables you can try MSY.
    Prices for Ritmo Cat6 cables:
    1m $1
    2m $2
    3m $3
    5m $4
    10m $6
    20m $12
    30m $15

It's also good if you don't want to wait in the slow queue at MSY, add a couple of 1m cables to your order and jump in the 5+ items queue to get served faster.

  • Why not mix all four colours?
