Still showing on my account for $59. Just click on the monthly link under payment option and it shows the yearly.

    • Sure you can. Go to your account, Your Prime Settings, and on the Manage your Prime membership page where it has the payment info etc. there's a dropdown where you can choose between monthly and annual billing.

    • Yes, you can change to yearly subscription. Go to "Your Account" >> "Prime", it is on the left tab.

  • Still works :) 50000 total. Cheers OP!

  • Just wondering cam you stack annual memberships? Like if you have 2 or more cards to use? Stack 2 annual subscriptions paying using 2 cards?

    • Pretty sure the answer is no because you only get charged when membership is due. You can't elect to pay it voluntarily up front.

      • Ah okay. Thanks for the reply.

    • Best way to use 2 cards on same membership
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6158052/redir

      • Yup saw it earlier. Actually have more than 2 supplementary cards so stacking would have been nice.

  • Got only $2.50 credit monthly so basically it's $30 per year :(

    • Er… that's the deal? 50% cashback on a $59 yearly membership ($2.50 per month on $4.99 intro promo price). I don't see the problem here?

      • was thinking of using 2 cards (6 months each);(

  • I currently subscribe to Amazon Prime monthly and have only one Amex card registered for this deal.

So that I can get the maximum possible cashback from Amex, would the best thing for me to do, is to switch from a monthly to a yearly subscription as close as possible to the offer end date - 18th Dec.

    Thoughts?

    • Well in theory yes - if you haven't reached the cashback cap yet then switching to the yearly will let you get the maximum cashback. But it may or may not be worth it depending on whether there will be any deals throughout the next year that beat whatever amount you had left. 50% would've obviously been the ideal.

Just to let you people if you change your membership from monthly to yearly it immediately charges you $59 (not at the end of your monthly membership cycle) and turn your membership from monthly to yearly. So don't make the same mistake I made and instead wait till the last day of the promotion and make your yearly payment on the second card on 18 December.

    • Hahahaha… I did the same thing! D'oh!

    • Thanks for this, I was wondering if this was the case.

  • Is there any way I can use this deal now? Trying to sign up to Prime but it forces me to go through the 30 day trial which will end after the end date of this deal (which I’m assuming is when my card will be debited)?

    • I'm in the same boat. Did you find a way to work around it?

    • +4

I spoke to Amazon and they told me to sign up for the free Prime trial now, cancel the trial before the expiration date of the offer (e.g. 17 December 2018), and then sign up for Amazon prime again on the last day of the offer (i.e. 18 December 2018). Apparently a new subscription will begin effective that date, the remainder of the old free trial period will be cancelled, and the card will be charged immediately. The downside is you lose a few free trial days.

I'm going to give it a go - hopefully it works out!

      • Thanks for finding out how to get around this to take advantage of the full benefit. Upvote!

Have you given it a try? I've cancelled my prime trial, but it's insisting that my benefits from the free month don't expire until 27/12 and telling me I won't be charged until then.

I had the exact same result, so I called support and the guy that I spoke to told me that the only way is if he cancels it on his end. I had him cancel it. You will lose the 1 month free trial, I asked if he could then reinstate it, but unfortunately he can't. I was then able to sign up for the year and received the AMEX message thanking me for using my enrolled card.

If you do call, ask if they can instigate the payment at the time, that way you might be able to keep the trial and take advantage of the promo.

@Cousin IT: Thanks, This helped heaps. Spoke with Amazon via online chat and they cancelled my Prime trail. I did loose the free month trail, but was able to immediately sign up for annual membership and received the AMEX email straight away.

            • @fmanzi: How do you contact amazon via chat

      • Did it work for you @Slackarse? I couldn't get it to work, it would just tell me that the yearly charge would be debited at the end of the trial period.

        • Sorry for not replying for so long. As others have mentioned, yes it did work but you must contact Amazon on chat and ask them to fully cancel the trial membership before signing up again, and then don't forget to change your membership to annual to take full advantage of the $30 credit.

  • Hi Guys,
Is there any option to turn off automatic renewal of the Prime Membership?
(I just signed up for it, and the system says it will automatically renew the membership on December 2019.)

I can only see option to end the membership and a reminder email.

    • You need to call support and they will turn off the automatic renewal for you. The support guy said that there is an option in the Manage your prime membership page, but we tried looking for it and it's not there.

  • Nice, logged into OzB, got a reminder for this deal, tried to remember why I set the reminder for today, changed payment from Visa to Amex, switched from monthly to annual.

And now…….I wait (for my statement credit).

  • Worked perfectly when I swapped over a few days ago. Charged $59, instantly refunded $29.50 to the card.

  • those with multiple cards, make sure you change payment methods first before switching to annual

  • I just switched mine over to annual (it was on a paid monthly sub before), but it hasn’t charged my card, in fact it says next payment will be on 23/12. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: called them and had them cancel my Prime membership and signed up again.

  • I had this saved to my offers. I accidentally signed up for prime to today and it got charged on my Amex.

Even though its past the offer date, I got an email saying I activated the offer. Will I get the cashback?
