That's a great price!! No regrets buying Pixel 2 XL. I think it's still the best Android phone around.

    • +1

      Stock Android :P

      • +1

Stock Android 9 beta with security patch level 5 July 2018 ;-)

  • Would the invoice for this include an ABN? I wouldn't mind TRS on top of this.

    • I'd ping them & ask to be certain,

But the listing mentions AU stock, so it'll include GST and at the bottom of the listing it says

      Value Added Tax Number:AU 49087964841

the number will be their ABN. I'd be interested what price the invoice has on it. Previously I got the pre-discounted price listed.

      • VAT is the euro term. Seems odd they would use that phrase for AU stock.

        • +1

Its a fairly global term used by OECD, World Bank, etc we're just special calling it a GST.

          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-added_tax

I think its just added to an ebay listing when the seller enables "show business seller information" i believe its ebay who adds the "Value Added Tax Number:AU <ABN>" bit (ie sellers dont have control over the wording). It's probably so they/you are compliant with EU laws for those shipping there.

    • Hi YellowKnight, did you manage to get a response from the store regarding trs? Thanks

      • Hi confirmed from Ben in allophones this is eligible for TRS

  • +2

why don't they stock the non-XL versions of Pixel phones :(

    • -4

Because it's an older phone and the Pixel 3 will be released soon.

      • +2

        It's an older phone

Lol it's about 9 months old. Some phones are sold for 3-4 years after their release (ahem, iPhone 6?)

      • +1

They stock the Pixel XL and Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel non-XL and Pixel 2 non-XL came out around the same time as the XL versions. They have a Pixel 1 XL which is surely older than a Pixel 2 non-XL.

So, well, "it's an older phone" doesn't seem like the reason to me…

    • I have the same concern

    • +8

Because it's much cheaper buying it outright than chaining yourself to a terrible plan for 24 months.

      • -7

Oh yeah? lets test your maths

I signed up to a $59 per month plan with Telstra with unlimited calls and texts, plus 15GB of data. Phone was included.

$59 x 24 months = $708 (with the option to upgrade to the new model a year in).

Hmm, no your maths didnt work out there. I'm still on top.

        edit:
Actually, if you take out the cost of the plan itself, the handset costs would work out to be..oh wait..FREE..(because if you were a true ozbargainer you would have noticed this plan back in april)

        • -6

Not sure wqhy i get downvoted when i am completely correct and my information is for the benefit of everyone in this site.

This place is toxic, holding my cards to my chest in future

        • +6

          @TheCunningLinguist:
          how does $59 * 24 = $708? my calculator says $1,416

        • +1

          @sssx: Exactly.

        • +2

          Really Cannot understand this Math Calculation: $59 x 24 = $708.

          When i was taught Maths $59 x 24 =$1416

As Mr. Incredible would say..Why would anyone change Math..

        • +1

Not sure where you are getting those figures from.

Telstra currently do the Pixel 2 XL on a 20GB 24 month contract for $109pm or $2616 over 24 months.

Alternatively, if I bought the Pixel 2 XL outright here for $890, plus have a 22GB pre-paid for $55 through Aldimobile, costing me $2210 all up AND I'd have the freedom to move to different providers without cost.

        • -4

          @sssx:

          I meant $59 * 12

if you buy outright, you have to also take into account the cost of whatever BYO plan you go on or the cost of prepaid. In addition to this, you have no protection if the phone breaks. I have looked at both sides ant I owned a phone outright for many years, it only makes financial sense if you keep the phone for at least 4—5 years.

        • +2

          @TheCunningLinguist:

          I'm on a $19 plan. $19 * 24 = $456 + $890 (this deal) outright phone = $1,346. If I want to upgrade in 12 months I can sell it second hand, let's say $250, overall cost is $19 * 12 + $890 - $250 = $868.

I make sure not to drop/lose my phone, have never needed insurance.

  • +2

It's July and Pixel 2 XL 64GB can already be had for $890. I'll wait a few more months. Cheers. ☺

    • +2

lol im in the same boat but then the Pixel 3 will lauch and then id be uber tempted to get that haha.

      /firstworldproblems

      • I know. Unless the Pixel 3 will have a lot of more advanced stuff (which I doubt it will. They'll probably make few subtle changes in the 3), then I am more than happy to get the Pixel 2 for cheaper. As soon as the 3 is released the 2 will go further down in price. I am still using Samsung Galaxy S5, so I have no problem with using older phones.

        • +3

'I am still using Samsung Galaxy S5'

In the same boat. It has become so painfully slow after a year of use lol

        • It will have a lot of more advanced stuff, it will have a notch lol

        • Do we know about the head phone jack or not in pixel 3?

  • This or Samsung s9? Currently using my s7 edge with a crack screen

    • Camera & Software (Pixel 2 XL) or Features and Camera (S9)?

    • +3

this for sure, the battery is much better than any samsung (s9 has crap battery life so getting it is pointless since you cant use it much). and so is the camera better on pixel. and this also has better software and guaranteed updates for 3 years.

    • +2

I've had Samsung S9+ and pixel 2xl. Both are great. But ultimately, for me, I chose the pixel 2xl as the keeper.

I'd go with the Samsung if you are used to and can live with the multitude of options to tinker with. I'd also go with the Samsung if you use wired headphones. The biggest let down for the pixel 2xl for me is the lack of headphone jack and the lack of compatibility with 3rd party headphone adapters.

I'd go with Google pixel 2xl I'd you want a phone that just works fast with little to no effort. There might not be all the apps and functionality. But it just works and works really well. The simple camera and the motion photos are just so much better on pixel. Just point and shoot and get great results. Also there is no annoying and utterly useless "bixby" button that gets pressed by accident.

There is always an adjustment period to get used to a new device. But once you go pixel and get used to it, you will get annoyed at anything that Samsung adds on top.

  • This or the Huawei mate 10 pro? About $200 difference https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/390319

    • +2

      This;

Better camera and software support till 2020

      • +1

I'd go Huawei. Better battery life and quite a lot more cheaper. Camera is pretty much the same and only really discernible comparing shots side by side

        • Yeah tough choice considering my only real justification is not having NFC on my current Xiaomi phone. Finding it hard to warrant the purchase but also get TRS, very tempting..

  • Got mine for $800 brand new (from the last Ebay 10% off site wide plus having an offer to the seller accepted) but this is still a great price.

Best Android phone you can get your hands on to date

  • +1

Credit card maxed out again this month :P

  • so many votes but hardly any sales on this item

    • +2

Cause everyone knows this is now on a downwards trend with new model pixels releasing within months. Bargain today, rip off tomorrow.

  • I got this phone a few months ago with the JBHiFi deal, and it has been nothing but trouble for me. The features that work are great, but I've had constant wifi issues since the day I bought it, and have to rely on mobile data for everything. I have updated the phone several times since then and the issue hasn't been fixed.

    • Have you tried Settings > System > Reset options > Reset WiFi?

    • sounds like you should get a replacement, not many people have wifi troubles, must be a hardware fault

    • Turn off Photo Backup & Sync, it is the problem. Every time you get on Wifi it will automatically backup your entire gallery to the cloud, in the background, choking your wifi.

      • You can set this to when charging only

  • How would one go about a warranty claim buying from these guys? Can we go directly through Google?

    • Hi Dano33,

In the unlikely event you need warranty, you can contact us via [email protected], and we will help sort it out for you.

      • How much stock is there? I have to wait till the last day so I can get TRS on it

  • Thanks OP. Just picked up the (currently) last 128GB XL (Just Black).

Moving away from iOS but should be a solid upgrade from my current iPhone 6 Plus which randomly freezes/crashes from time to time.

    • Update: I got a call directly from an Allphones staff member to say that since I purchased the last 128GB Black in stock, the box was the only one to have been opened for display purposes (e.g. for potential customers to hold the phone), but the phone and all accessories were still in their original plastic.

Given the option to take this phone or wait 1-2 weeks for new stock to come in, I opted to wait.

  • +1

Bought yesterday and received today. Quick delivery from these guys!

Haven't opened the seal of the box yet, will leave that for after dinner :)

On the side note did not get my cashback registered with Shopback 2.5% yet… Would have been better with Cashrewards?-P

  • +1

Caved in and bought it despite my $500 limit for new phones. Went WW to get the gift cards and worked fine. The PayPal transaction looks a bit odd because it lists shipping and then takes it off again but all seems fine. Thanks for the post.

    • Your welcome, enjoy your new Google Pixel 2 XL :)

  • Ordered on Sunday, received on Tuesday. However, Auspost left the package on my doorstep, despite the parcel being marked with 'signature on delivery required'.

    • Report stolen and demand reimbursement

  • Using it now.

    Very happy. Thank you.

But i did a really poor job with putting the screen protector on…
