Favourite Pricing Error Memories?

Just saw the Samsung Note 8 bargain at Good Guys today, as per the description, "probably" a pricing error.

I read some of the comments and had a chuckle at the outrage :)

So, if anyone would like to share their favourite "bargain/price error" stories?

I recall a few years ago, everything on the Jeans West site being $20, including $100 gift cards :P

  • A year ago there were the PlayStation Plus subscriptions from JB Hifi on sale. That was fun… they doubled down and made the error twice as good. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311821

    • Hehe. I love the tone in all those threads. People tiptoeing around issues, "JB have done the right thing here", then they get a second voucher they weren't expecting, oh wow, maybe they stuff up, not even a hint of maybe I should give it back but as soon they cancel it.

I dunno, I tried for Jeans West voucher above, didn't have expect to get it and certainly didn't expect them to give my money back anytime soon…

Mine was a pair of Xbox 360 games (Halo 4/Tomb Raider) for $0.01 at JB. They were part of a then-current bundle with the console, but someone chucked it on the shelf haphazardly.

The staffs' jaws dropped and knew it wasn't supposed to be there, but hey, it was an error on their part and left with two games for half a cent each.

Logitech Z906 speakers for around $60 on Amazon (RRP closer to $300) when they first opened up shop in Australia. I was working night shift and pulled the trigger, not knowing whether this was a pricing error or something special from Amazon. Unfortunately it was a pricing error. Fortunately Amazon gave $50 credit which was nice!

    • Logitech make some great stuff, I've gotten so much value out of my z5500 for $350 that I forgive the back light in the controller module dying about two years in.

      • Apart from a computer mouse, I don’t think I own any other Logitech product. I have some Creative computer speakers from many years ago, and a friend at the same time had done Logitech ones. I felt that my Creative ones sounded much better than his Logitech ones, which put me off Logitech for quite a while actually, but not too fussed now

When collecting we did discuss that it was a price error and were they sure that we could take it, the employee assured us all was fine. I mean, realistically we knew it was a pricing error but we felt as though we had brought it to their attention we had nothing to feel guilty for.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118375 SONY Power Bank / Portable Charger 7000mAh $29.99 at JB Hi-Fi - Free Shipping. Should have been $129.99. JB to their credit honoured the price error limiting to one per customer. Still using 5 years later.

    • wow, that's so expensive by todays standards

      • Haha bought one of those during the pricing error. The good thing was, when it ot stopped working I sent it back to Sony and they endied up sending me 2 brand new power bank in 2 different colours.

  • Scanpan for $7 delivered on Grays online. Couldn’t believe when they shipped it.

      Sure it wasn't a Scampan?

Return business flights to Bali for $200 from air Asia. To their credit they honoured all the trips.

  • Auckland to SFO in Virgin Business class $1200 NZD return.

  • No, the real thing.

  • Free alcohol. Some shop (BWS?) had a sign-up get $5 coupon, no min. spend. They also had a $5 mini bottle of Rose I think it was. Bought online. Except they ran out of the mini-bottles, so on pick up, got a full size bottle of Rose. Completely free.

    Good times.
