This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

It is time to move to USA once again for a 15% site-wide deal on ebay.com starting at 8am PST until about 7pm 11pm (extended) PST on the 29th June (Saturday 30th June for us and please do the timezone conversion based on your location)

The word spreading on the interwebs is that it won't be a 20% like last time but 15% is always better than the current 10% off coupon running on ebay Australia. Again similar to last time you will be able to purchase ebay AU items provided you move to USA in time.

      • Well I found one for sale. So I might have something to buy. Lets see if this works or not

    • +8

wash your mouth out! Its all about the bargains, you dont have to 'need' anything to buy it!

I dont have anything to buy

Time to give up OzB membership mate.
        Dont say Dont again.

        • Nah can't… Been here too long.. can't give up now..

        • ha ha, I've had a hard day, thanks for the laughs

    • No problem, buy something for me.

    • Watches? Plenty of threads on that.

Or enjoy your last GST free purchase from ebay.com by courtesy of Jerry Harvey!

    • +6

Or buy stuff from amazon.com to stick it to Gerry and eBay

      • I don't think amazon.com ship to Australian address

        • +5

          Some do.

        • I've gotten quite a bit from there. Some usb drives, portable hard drives, jackets and am thinking of getting some snow goggles.

          @phil1311:

          They wont after July 1st.

        • +1

@cqbman: That sort of was my point that I neglected to mention haha. None of them (ebay us, amazon fr,de, us) will unfortunately.

      • +2

Set fire to your money and stick it to everyone.

      • +1

Amazon.com are geoblocking Australia come July 1st.

        • But what if my American 'friend' orders it and asks for it to be sent to AU as a gift?

        • @newdad: GST is legally required to be paid on gifts entering Australia.

        • @no not me:
What happens if you declare it's worth 4c?

        • @newdad: If your american friend buys it and sends it to you, he does not have to collect GST unless he sends AU$75K a year.

        • @no not me: that's not exactly correct. Items under $1000 can still be imported gst free - as in you can buy overseas and bring it into Australia without paying duty even if declared. Companies sending products to you in Australia may need to report and pay tax if they send more than $75k worth of goods and are somehow associated with Australia (no idea what that means).

the american sound engineer? I'll kill that bastard for what he's done!

    • +6

      courtesy of Jerry Harvey

Nope, the last step of accountability is the government. If you voted LibLabs then you voted for parties that accept money from little Gerry to screw you with taxes so Gerry makes more money. I bet Gerry pays tax at a rate nowhere near what you pay either.

Let us hope you do not vote against your own interests again if you voted for this by voting LibLabs.

I have completely stopped buying from Harvey norman. Even got to the point where even when they are next door to jb, i just price match with them. JB has gotten a lot of people saying because of gerry.

2 ozbarginers on a flight, was there a deal for flights that I missed?!

    • Wow that website looks like a very poor cousin of OzBargain.

      • +3

that site has exist long before ozbargain was created

        • SD's commenting system shows its age 'though

      • In looks only. SD is huge. Quite a few OZB deals originate on SD.

      • If you are a member and login, it looks much better, like forums style

  • +1

Don't know what to buy though

  • Max is ~AUD$900.

  • How do we move to the u.s? Just change address and it should work?

  • +4

Bose QC 35 ii will come to $352.75 if price stays the same.

  • Can someone please do the time conversion to AEST or WAST?

  • wow their yamaha yas-107s and samsung 960 evo 500gb nvme's are more expensive than in australia

    • Don't forget you can piggy-back onto ebay.co.uk, ebay.de, etc. from ebay.com and not just ebay.com.au

    • yeah …. need to globally cherry pick if you want bargains …

  • awesome! thanks op

  • Remember to use a second account if you have one, as if they notice a huge swarm of people changing to a US address then back to an Australian address, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some backlash, such as banning.

Not saying it will happen, but it's worth taking precautions. Be careful.

  • This is great!!!

  • Looks like a late night for me! Bring on 1am

  • if I opt for delivery, it won't be posted to Australia right?

    • +2

Nope, all you need to do is change the Account Country to the US, no need to change the billing / delivery address

      • +2

Looks like using the .com URL negates eBay Plus though which means previously free shipping is now not. Literally negates the discount in most cases.

        • Really, kills eBay plus? Damn.

        • So make a new account…

        • @ilikeit:

No, eBay plus is Australian. You can't buy through eBay America and use eBay plus. Therefore, no free shipping on top of 15%.

        • -2

@justtoreply: Yes, I understand. That's why I suggested to make a new account, rather than jeopardise your current one with Australian eBay Plus. I'm sure a lot of people 2 or more ebay accounts.

      • 'all you need to do is change the Account Country to the US'

How? in ebay or in paypal?

        • +1

eBay. Paypal has nothing to do with this.

  • Watching world cup while shopping eBay. Lovely Saturday morning.

    • +8

so you will be watching some replays as there is no match tonight Au time.

    • no games on

      • +1

        LET THE BOI GLOAT WATCH

  • item has to be visible on the ebay.com website. A lot of smaller items i was interested in last time weren't visible, so i couldn't use the discount on quite a lot of these items

    • +2

Are you sure? You can just find it on .com.au and then remove the .au and it should work regardless, I've never heard of items missing from other countries' websites.

      • +1

hmm, i was using the item id numbers to locate the items.

I logged into my US account, tried your method (taking out .au), doesn't work with a primary US delivery address, does add to the cart with an AU primary delivery address

        Maybe that was my mistake

      • +1

This happens to me often. I often search for items on eBay.com. When I try to replicate the search on eBay.com.au they smoke bomb. I have to 'watch' the item on eBay.com then sign into my ebay.com.au account.

Sometimes these items have international shipping, but items won't ship here unless the seller intervenes.

        • After a decade of using ebay I just discovered this recently. I was amazed that there were all these items I could have bought on eBay.com that are marked shipping internationally that weren't showing on eBay.com.au even after choosing the show Worldwide option. It means all my carefully set up alerts are wasted. Pretty stupid of eBay, not to show people things that are for actual sale.

        • @Biggles266: Yes, surprisingly 'Worldwide' search doesn't bring them up. I often find these items during Google search of ebay items.

I never use the alerts. How do they work for you?

  • The % I save is in USD OR AUD?!

    • +1

      USD

    • +21

      Please be a joke… Please.

    • +3

      Botswana pula, of course.

    • +2

Imperial percent, which is like 110 metric percent.

    • Depends on what season of the year and whether you have the magabytes or gigabytes.

  • +1

Not sure I'll buy anything, but I've moved to US just in case.

    • We are hoping we can tempt you. We have already discounted some of our products in preparation for tomorrow.

  • This will surely get f8xed for AU users ..

Oh and ebays 1millionth % off bargain..god all these deals..

  • I'm surprised people don't start listing $1000 paper weights when ebay runs these … just have a friend buy them and net ~2.5%, after ebay and paypal fees + credit card points.

On second thought … people are probably doing it already, just not talking about it.

    • Not really worth the effort for 2.5%

      • It's easy to scale, because you can just increase the quantity to 1000 … just need a couple of ebay accounts/friends/cards to buy up all the stock.

If you have enough credit cards/accounts to sell $1m worth of stuff, that's like 25k in profit, 1 million points (which you can sell for another 10-15k) and another 4-6k in interest.

40k profit for a less than 1 hour of work seems worthwhile.

Even if you can't get enough cards/ebay account to do $1m, a smaller scale scheme could net 4k for a similar amount of work

        • Let me tell you a little info about your grand plan.
eBay detects a number of things when you buy/sell/login/use PayPal.
They can correspond IP adresses, actual adresses, time stamps, login/log out sessions. Links copied/ links opened. ISP’ etc… so If you manage to pull this off with numerous accounts, credit cards, computers etc…. then we’ll done, keep in mind never to log into any of your other accounts on that PC or up adress ever again, otherwise permanently banned

        • @sr8rippinpro:

So setting up multiple ghost accounts is probably in breach of the ebay/paypal T&Cs … but what's the issue, if you have a couple of friends buying the paperweights?

        • +1

@salmon123: Buying paperweights would probably be sus.

Have it a high value item above market value instead, then don't bother shipping it because it's your friend and you're both in on it.

        • @BradleyDS2:

Buying paperweights would probably be sus.

Yeah - paperweight was just an example to drive home the point. Of course, you'd use a random high-value item that's consistent with your selling history.

then don't bother shipping it because it's your friend and you're both in on it.

Make sure you offer, free location collection as an option :)

I think it'd be possible to net 7.4% + points + interest, if you wait until there's a no-final-value fee offer and your friend buys the item with a 10% off sitewide code.

  • +1

Do you have to pay in USD? 3% foreign transactiom fee may apply to some ccs right?

    • Just proceeded to checkout, shows up as AUD for the items i had selected.

  • Hmm, what about a dyson v7 - BMC it works out around $370 Australian with discount delivered— https://www.ebay.com/itm/DYSON-V7-MOTORHEAD-ORIGIN-CORDLESS-…
    Only 1 though!

    • +1

Be mindful about the US voltage unless you prefer to use a step up transformer with it!

    • Keep in mind that you will be required to pay GST and a collection fee by the time that is delivered.

      • +1

Not according to comments below if they are correct, “Doesn't matter if your parcel arrives after July 1. As long as the purchase is made before July 1 no GST will need to be paid if less than $1000.”
