  • Get in fast folks! I already own one of these otherwise I would snap one up.

    what version on the router? e.g. A1, B1, C1, or… ?

    • Not actually sure sorry - all our current on hand stock is less than a month old, though.

      • Are people allowed to request for specific hardware revision - i.e. C1 when purchasing the router(s)?

    • Do you need the same Hardware version if you have two units for AiMesh?

  • Damn, how's it compare to the RT-N66U?

    • Biggest difference is Wireless AC vs N - generally equates to faster speed on the 5GHz band, as long as you have devices that are AC capable (pretty much everything nowadays).

RT-N66U-A1: The CPU is much weaker and 1 gen behind (and only single core). Wireless N only. Avoid.
RT-AC66U-A1: Essentially the same CPU as RT-N66U-A1 (old) but with new Wireless AC support added. Avoid.
RT-AC66U-B1: The CPU is the same as RT-AC68U revision A1/A2 (dual core) and if you run Merlin firmware, you actually pick RT-AC68U for this particular hardware revision. However, hard to find this one (especially at bargain price).

Note that Asus changed the CPU in RT-AC68U B1 onwards to a slightly more powerful CPU. That's why people generally prefer revision B1 or better for Asus RT-AC68U.

      • What does C1 do different?

Any deals for a router+model for FTTN ?

    • You mean a modem router combo? Nothing specifically at the moment, sorry.

Technology noob here, can we connect this to the Optus NBN modem? Is it worth connecting - seems like it's for a faster wireless speed?

    • Assuming it's a modem/router combo, yes you still can, but you would have to bridge the connection. Probably a fairly easy thing to do, the process just varies depending on which model you have.

Optus themselves should be able to help you with the process too.

    • LOL! Time i lost reading this and will never get back

  • OP, any chance of getting a special price for an ASUS DSL-AC68U ?

Just the RT model right now, sorry!

Wouldn't bother with an Asus Modem/Router, Been through 3 of them in 6 months. Plus they dont run a broadcom chip-set so look forward to slow internet. We lose 13mbps through our Asus modem.

  • Just ordered. Fantastic price for a great router

$15 shipping :( would have bought one otherwise.

haha tough life… saving bulk on the product to cry about postage. I went courier for the $15 and total cost is cheaper than any of the previous OzBargain deals… plus being courier I'll get it by end of week!

  • sold out now I guess

  • I snost, I lost. OP, any chance of more stock?

    • At this price most likely no, sorry.

      • Then how do these work? Do you sell them at cost? Or sell them at a loss?

        • In this specific case? A deal with the vendor (ASUS) themselves for our 20th Anniversary Sale. Can't really provide more details than that.
