msrp for this ram is around $170. Now that its dropped even further to $190 it seems like a decent price.

  • Meh C15 timings

      and only 2400MHz @ that.

how i'd love to have 3200mhz at c14

      • That's what I use:

        https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c14q-64gtz

Managed to pickup for $450 before the price hike.

        • Thats some nice b die ram, not that it matters anymore with the new update.

          @pvsk:

Are you saying that Ryzen 2nd gen can now live with hynix RAM at 3200 or higher?

        • +1

@poporange630: With a ryzen 5 2600, my 3200 C16 which is not bdie can actually run 3200 so it seems that the issue has been solved.

        • @popat:

Hi popat, which motherboard are you running? I only just bought the processor so need to know what motherboard and ram to get with it

    • Speed > timings

As speed increases latency timings increase slightly.

Bought 16gb (2x8GB) DDR4-2133 For $199 today, this post is a good deal on newEgg for $11 extra getting DDR4-2400. Did not post my deal because it was limited qty sale.

    • Bought Corsair vengeance Red led ddr4 3000 16gb kit for A$179 on amazon Au couple of weeks ago, didn’t posted it because only 2 were left and I bought both of them. Must be a price error but amazon posted it.

  • Bought a used DDR3 2x8GB 2400 for $110 last week on eBay. They are running well ATM. I am going do some test next week. :)

low in stock, plus 12$ delivery

That's $45 that can buy grocery or go into a graphics card instead of useless ram speed. So much easier with original ddr1. Just go the cheapest ram and as much gb as you can afford

  • meanwhile, i still need 2 x 8gb DDR3 to upgrade mine.

  • DDR4 and 2400? :/

    I got DDR3 and 2400.

  • How do you tell if ram is for laptop or desktop?

    • Laptop RAM is usually chunkier.

      https://duckduckgo.com/?q=laptop+ram&ia=images

    • Desktop ram is longer, laptop ram is shorter.

    • +1

Easiest way is to look for 'SO-DIMM' in the model name, DIMM is what standard desktop RAM are called and SO-DIMM are what laptop ram modules are called.

With DDR4, DIMM modules have 288pins and SO-DIMM has 260pins - so if you ever see 260 pin in the specs - then you know it's for a laptop. If you see 288 pin - then it's for a desktop.

Found a 2400mhz DDR4 8gb for $88aud if you apply all the coupons on AliExpress if anyone's interested -https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32844133851.html? . From my research RAM is one of those things brand shouldn't matter unless it's some chinese scam but from the reviews I read this RAM isn't one of them. I'm sure you could get it cheaper if you used some price tracker like allprices.

Where/whenever there's a $ to be made, they'll be some prick looking to screw people over.

  • Anyone tell me other than the $7 in savings (and brand?), why you'd get this set over this:

    https://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N…

    GeIL EVO SPEAR 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 CAS 16 timings though.

(Edit: Also, I know it says "price excludes GST" but it's shipped from US, and buying now, there's no GST yet, right?)

      shipping is $30.90

      • Oh fudge. Completely forgot about that. (I'm specc'ing up a whole set up so wasn't looking at shipping). Thanks.

  • Price needs to drop another $50 to be worth it.

    • just dropped by another $20

Not bad for those who are picking up those cheap Ryzen CPUs

  • Beware purchasing from NewEgg, if it is faulty you'll spend literally hours on an online chat trying to get them to do the right thing as required by law and replace it with them trying to convince you that their "15 day International Warranty" is all they have to follow.

    My order showed $190

    • +2

Edited: it shows $190 for me as well. Price seems to have dropped another $20.

      • Thanks for the update mate, was initially eyeing 3000MHz 16GB but this was a great deal for under 200 that I couldn't pass up!

  • +2

I ordered at $210, talked to customer service and got the $20 difference refunded.

  • Guys - don't forget cashrewards 1% cashback! (I forgot lol)

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/newegg-com

    $190 - $1.90 = $188.10 delivered.

  • I got my 2400mhz 16gb kit for $89@PLE in 2016. Feels great

    • God damn.

feels bad for anyone looking to build a new system for the past year :(
