Is it under the Wallet page once you are logged in to PayPal? It is NOT added to your PayPal balance

Received it in my PayPal wallet, but I made a purchase on eBay and paid using PayPal and it was not redeemed? Charged my card the full amount. Pretty unimpressed about that? Anyone else had this issue?

    • how much was the purchase amount?

i used it for a $6.50 pair of gloves (didn't know i had the voucher)

      • The purchase was about $40, didn't see any mention of the voucher at checkout, thought it would automatically apply because that's what it was set to, but it charged my card the full amount.

        • +1

there's a button when you click on the offer(with in the Wallet page) which says - "Use at next purchase (when valid)". Might be worth checking if it's ON

        • @spk:Yes, it was on, still did not redeem.

      • Was the purchase of gloves on ebay?

  • I think I've received it? I'ts sitting in Wallet > Offers but I'm unable to access it. It's unclear if its a promotion they're running or instead one that I've participated in.

it just works automatically if you buy something off ebay. When you go to the checkout it'll default to a voucher payment instead of credit card.
It was very mysterious for me since i didn't even know i got the voucher and thought i was getting free stuff off ebay

  • +1

ok so i got the $20 paypal credit without realising.
The gumtree $20 email went to my junk this morning, but before i received the email i had already received the paypal voucher.

    Here's what happened:

Went to buy a $6.50 pair of gloves off ebay. Didn't know i had $20 voucher in my paypal wallet and oddly i noticed it didn't charge my credit card for the gloves after checking out.
So i thought i got lucky and tried adding buying other stuff from the same seller but no luck. Seems like i could only buy the exact same thing.
So i ended up buying 2 more pairs of gloves (i.e. 3 pairs for a total of $19.50).
I only needed one pair, but seems like the voucher became worthless after i 'wasted' it on a small sub $20 purchase.

OH well free is free i guess…

    • So it's single use regardless of cost? I just bought a $2 item but luckily it doesn't seem to have used the voucher (I wasn't paying attention at the checkout).

      • +1

        Well not exactly.

I bought 3 pairs of the same glove in 3 separate transactions.
Then it automatically used the remaining 50c on my chemist warehouse purchase.

Now I got the eBay seller to cancel two pairs of my gloves order and the $13 went back to my account.

    • hey mate, just tryna learn off ya mistake, so I have added something i wanna buy ebay cart and now at ebay checkout but still no voucher applied, does it auto apply once I hit confirm and pay for Paypal which will take me to PP login? I have checked my PP credit and no monines in there

      Cheers

      • The payment method will look different.
Normally eBay shows my default credit card but instead it just said voucher and didn't show my credit card

        • yeah so it stays on my CC at ebay checkout so I'm guessing it wouldn't apply as the only then is to pay by clicking on PP confirm and buy or whatever - i.e. PP redirect, no sign of voucher or discount in price, wonder if it only applies to certain shit lol

  • I bought $50 worth of stuff, the voucher was set to apply, but it didn’t get used.
    Emailed Paypal, awaiting their response.
Account credit would’ve been so much easier.

    • Same here. Please post back with their response.

    • yep, same for me buying a few things a cpl days ago on ebay with the 10% off voucher. didn't get applied.

emailed paypal and asked why, how do i use it etc. their reply was basically we don't know, go ask gumtree!

    • I notice it says "Use at next purchase (when valid)". I'm not sure what the 'when valid' means although it didn't use it on a $2 zapals transaction.

      • +1

I suspect it won't work on international transactions because it can't be applied to GST.

        • hmm possible. i did have international items as well as local in my cart. maybe it just dismissed the whole thing as invalid.

guess i'll just keep trying to use it. got until 2025 after all ;)

    • Their help enter is like talking to a brick wall.
I explained the situation and they said they don’t do refunds, I have to contact the seller.
WTF? This could be a long process.

so i just added a random case of wine to my cart on ebay and it says that it's going to charge my credit card via paypal like usual. but when i click on the little down arrow next to my cc number, it shows that the amount that is going to be charged to my card is $20 less than the cart total. even adding an overseas item with gst applied it shows the same thing.

don't know why it wasn't working like this for me the other day. the purchase was on another ebay account, but tried the same on that one and getting the same result.

ok, just remembered that i was using a 10% voucher. so i applied another voucher to the cart to see what would happen and it charges full price. so you can't use the $20 when you're using another ebay voucher.

      • Ahh well that's annoying. I hoping PayPal might convert the offer to PayPal balance so I can combine it with an ebay voucher.

        Edit: PayPal wouldn't convert it.
Edit 2: It should be available to use with a voucher according to T&C's.

      • Hmmmm, yes that is rather peculiar…I also did a test myself too, entered in the proxy code, the $20 off is not applied, removed the voucher and it applies to full price…..so that means you can't use the 25% voucher to bring the full price down and then have paypal subtract another $20 off the discounted price….which is gay….hah…

And like steven6 has already mentioned, some items just doesn't work whilst others do…..hmmmmmmmmmm…………..I guess we could have each other buy someone else's item for $20 and then we meet up and they back $20 in cash or something? It's a win win - you get your item, and we get out $20 "deposit"…

  • is anyone still waiting for theirs?

    • I am. Got the email but no monies.

Sorry i did but it's under offers. So it's not real money it's $20 under eligible offers.

I've noticed some items don't trigger the $20 to be used, but some other items do trigger the use of the $20. I've also noticed that if you have multiple items and as long as one item triggers the use of the $20, then it applies to all items in checkout, and if you then remove all of the items that trigger the $20 to be used, then it still applies to the items that originally didn't trigger the use of the $20. Bit confusing I know.

Example of Item that should NOT trigger use of $20

      Triggered

  • I have no idea how you are supposed to use this voucher. It's set to apply to next purchase, but NOTHING comes out in checkout at eBay. It just says my card will be charged the full amount.

Guys if you want to use the paypal offer, i found that you can buy $10 * 2 ebay gift card on ebay. it will say pay by voucher or gift card

      • cheers, can i then use those 2 ebay gift cards valued at $20 to buy anything and will receive $20 discount off total price? I'm a simple man, never done cards before lol

  • For anyone wondering how to use this, it definitely works at chemist warehouse

  • is anyone still waiting for theirs?

    • Yep. Made the ad and everything. No idea how to get what they said they'd give me.

I didnt realise i had it, my old card expired and i couldnt use my current one (overseas) so used paypal to buy 2x$10 skype credits. Didn't realised what was happening until it refused a third :p

  • I forgot about this and just looking over my emails now I never seemed to get an email saying I was getting the $20 voucher in my Paypal but I otherwise did list an ad for my car and felt I met all the conditions. There's also no sign of it if I log into my paypal, in the main Activity listing, the wallet, or the offers tab. Do I have any method of recourse?

    • …was your ad deleted before promo ended without you realising and didn't relist back up before promo expiry date?

      • No it appears to be still listed as best as I can tell at a glance. PM'd the link in case you have a moment to check please

I have had a look through the Full T&C's just now and I believe I have met them all. Is it because the listing wasn't sold by a certain date perhaps?

        • If it wasn't removed then no idea….I got mine and mine hasn't been sold yet…….not that anyone is willing to splurge $1000000000 on a car……hee hee hee….

        • @Zachary:

How many pictures did you put up of it?

        • @hetzjagd: I think filled all the picture slots you can have as a free user…wanted to add more pictures to glorify my ride…but would need to pay to insert more pictures…..

  • Merged from Did Anyone Actually Receive Their $20 from Gumtree for Listing Their Motor Vehicle?

    Referring to this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/385409
I listed my motor vehicle, received an email from gumtree stating I would receive $20 into my paypal…. and still nothing…. anyone out there get theirs?

    • nope

    • Yes. It was applied as a credit in my PayPal Ac.
Didn't know though until I went to make a PayPal purchase and it auto applied.

    • +1

Yup. Search the forums, there were people asking about why they got free Paypal money.

    • yep it was a special voucher in paypal though not a straight $20

    • Yes, It's not "money" in your account but a $20 credit voucher code attached to your PayPal.

Mine got used up on my eBay plus subscription. Didn't realise until I got an email saying they billed me $9 for eBay plus and then remembered I had the $20 voucher sitting there

    • Read comments on the deal.
It goes into your "wallet" on Paypal, to be used as a credit on your next eligible PayPal purchase.

      So yes I got mine.

    • cant believe i missed out

      • hmmm well I never received anything.. I got the email to say they'd credit my account but nothing ever came and I've deleted the email now..

    • Yes. I listed my car during the offer period on 18/06/18, with "EOFY" in the description. Interestingly, the VIN I put in was totally wrong (I accidentally put in the VIN from my wife's car). I sold the car on 24/06/18 but I did not mark the car sold on Gumtree until I got my $20 PayPal credit. I got the email on 07/07/18 saying I was getting $20. I don't recall exactly when the $20 showed up in PayPal (not as cash, as an offer). I wasn't able to use it on my next eBay transaction (from China), but I was able to use it when I bought sockets from Supercheap Auto (direct from their website, not eBay) on 21/07/18.

    • Got mine and used it to buy some parts to keep my overpriced dilapidated old car going.
