I thought it was worth posting! I kind of get anxiety from the idea of posting deals. Sorry in advanced if this was a bad post!

      • +18

Don't worry about it, some people are just snobs.

        • +5

I figure most things that are considered old models would put OzBargain out of business so to speak and I thought seeing as theres no better offering from Intel that it was truly good value! Thanks GregRust

          @OWKnowitall1:

You contributed something worthwhile to the community which is more than the vast majority of users visiting this site do (myself included).

          Thanks for the deal.

      • -1

A quick search showed that the price is not significantly cheaper than elsewhere, but have an upvote for the goodwill!

        • +1

Thanks GreenRomeo, do you suggest i put Mwave and Scroptec on the description?

        • +1

@OWKnowitall1: You're welcome. I see you already included Mwave with their eGift card, which is good.

      • +4

If you think its a good deal then just post it. Nothing to worry about. There is no such thing as a bad post.

  • +5

Same price at Mwave and Scorptec

    • +3

Good point, should I put them two on description?

      • +2

Nah, get yourself some sleep, champ - you've earned it.

      • +16

don't worry too much about posting deal OP. My first post got shredded because i misplaced the $ sign on the price. Some people are just very…special

        • +1

That kind of made me laugh, your right I see it a lot of criticism. I wont let it bug me!

        • +3

Just looked at your first deal and cant find any people talking about the deal title.

        • haha i realised after and changed the description! I thought I got a way with it too LOL. :)

      • -1

Yes you should because a viewer of this deal does not necessarily read the comments to look for the product links. Do your post a favour by adding in all the essential info yourself, rather than relying on the 32 mods & power users reading the comments and doing it for you 4 hours afterwards.

        • okay :), honestly dont revise my mistakes if its such a problem for you. I did say first post, just glad there a lot of other users who are much nicer then you.

        • +1

@OWKnowitall1: Please reread my comment in a neutral tone at a steady pace. There was no malice intended at all. You asked a question and I answered with an explanation and what you should have done. I spent my time and effort to answer you precisely because you were a first time poster and you were being misled. However I can see how the comment may be misconstrued if you thought I was shouting at you.

It wasn't a problem for me to edit, but it was a problem for your post for over 4 hours. You could have corrected it proactively, instead of relying on an editor surfing the comments and fixing it at 1am. Or, it might perhaps remain uncorrected if nobody bothered?

I was more annoyed by the bad advice given by kahn at 9pm than the missing info.

Please also read this comment in a neutral tone at a steady pace. I am not being nasty to you. If you think so then you're reading it wrong.

        • @alvian:
Hi alvian i do apologise! thanks for your help! I honestly didnt realise what corrections were needed and i didnt even know there was editors so i had no intention in relying on anyone. Thanks for the feed back, seriously i do appreciate you not being as nasty as i initially thought you were. I stand corrected so thanks again! I am in the process of posting another deal but honestly i do feel anxious again I dont want to get on anyone's wrong side.

@OWKnowitall1: Posting deals were nerve wrecking the first couple of times, but doesn't it feel nice to see your effort acknowledged with those + votes?

If all of us worry about getting on people's wrong side then not much will get posted, and you have your L- and P-plates to help stop overly harsh criticisms. Write clear and concise titles (the majority of our edits are to correct confusing titles), put in all info in the descriptions, don't abandon your posts, monitor the comments, edit when appropriate and expire the deals when they finish. A short cut to writing a good post is to use someone else's as your template.

          Happy OzBargaining!

        • @alvian:
Thanks for your comments sorry if I came out rude I totally misunderstood it. I'll try and come back and be as useful as I can.

Feels good to give back to the community who help me good prices from their posts.

I'll try and stay on top of it, catch you soon. I posted another deal if you happen to see it, let me know what I can change of you can be bothered :) . Catch

~1100 for a 1950X is a great price, semantics be damned on whether its a bargain or not… +1

i vote to rename the site ozgreatprice.com if haters are gonna hate!! :)

  • +7

It's not even an old model, the TR2 isn't out yet.

  • -3

    Who would need this?

    • TL;DR: Make sure u check with the programs u use if it can take advantage of more cores before buying or else it'll perform worse than a $300 CPU.

For people who has specific use for application that can scale well with more cores but slower clock speed. The vast majority of programs out there, especially games will not benefit from this. A $300 i5 8600 will be better than this in games and single core performance apps.

      • Does gaming still not really take proper advantage of multiple cores?

I haven't been a PC gamer for years, but I thought with the latest gen of consoles being out for about 4 years now and them running standard x86 processors with 8 cores. Game devs would have been able to transfer that multi core processing that they need to do on the console version over to the PC version.

        • +2

AC origins uses all 8 cores / 16 threads on my ryzen 1700, so they are certainly starting to …

          runs like a dream…
modern games DO avail themselves of the extra cores, yes

    • +1

      I bought one for high-end VM's.

  • +1

better off getting a newer model 2x

    • +2

I think the TR2 will probably cost 2x or even 2.5x faster so this would be alternative budget to the new incoming models, although prices are yet to be announced.

      • +1

Yeah makes sense that they would have a similar scheme to the rollout of the new Ryzens

      • Actually I kind of expect these processors to continue, with the new ones slotting in on top. At the same time I'd expect the prices to fall. Rough guess is AU$1600 for the 4 die, 32 core TR2 model.

I'd expect this one to fall to AU$700-800 once the new ones appear.

  • +1

    But….can it play Crysis?

    • +2

That meme is still going huh? Without a GPU, very much not anyway.

Excellent CPU for rendering and content creation, but a poor choice for gaming.

      • -1

So it can't play Crysis? Ok then, I will stick to Intel.

  • +1

Save about $40 compared to MSY. Has continually been dropping in price for a while as they're likely clearing stock in anticipation of the new models.
