Take note of exactly what variant you're buying:

    • Redmi Note 5
    • Redmi Note 5 Pro
    • Redmi Note 5 Pro AI Dual Camera
    • Redmi 5 Plus

I won't and can't elaborate too much because I'm not super familiar with the differences, but the Redmi 5 Plus is probably the easiest to recognise because it does not have a dual camera. I think the Redmi Note 5 in certain markets doesn't have one either and is actually the same as a Redmi 5 Plus with a different name.

Yeah xiaomi's naming is a mess.

AFAIK this is the Pro version, because it has 6GB Ram.

Non-pro has 3GB or 4GB ram. Cheaper here and here

According to gsmarena, the 3GB/32GB RAM/ROM option is the Pro AI Dual Camera, but I'm not sure how accurate that information is - Xiaomi might have just released a lower-specced non-pro version without the AI doodads.

Not sure if the extra 2GB of ram is worth on an SD636? And are they rated at the same speeds?

      • more RAM is always better. Usefulness depends more on the OS and what apps you're running than what chipset you have.

        • +1

more is better, but they usually don't come free. How much $/GB would you be willing to pay? Especially past a certain point, diminishing returns and all.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro came first and was tailored for an Indian release.

    • -1

This is the Redmi Note 5 Pro (not the Pro AI)

      • This phone isn't an Indian version, aka Pro. This is the Redmi Note 5 (AI).

        • Yup,clearly I didn't look very hard.. it's the AI
(Man I feel like an idiot now!)

Please PM JV directly about this having no b28.

  • +5

    no B28 :(

    • +5

      and no NFC.

  • +2

Surely it would not cost them much to add B28 and NFC, then I would jump on these Xiaomi deals.

  • +1

There are B28 versions…I think its the Taiwanese model we want that has all the bands.

I really want this phone but want the 6gb and the right bands!
