      Or you could use your phone's hands free earphones and buy a $1 adapter to split the 4-pole jack to a headphone jack and a mic jack. Search "4 pole jack adapter" in eBay.

        Mine you I didn't go full ozbargain like that :)

        I use a proper studio monitor headphone connected to my receiver and I only use the mic section of the adapter and clip the hands-free mic to my lapel (I let the earphones dangle). Why not get a proper mic? It's not important and the hands-free's mic works perfectly and sounds clearer than some of the headsets of players I encounter online.

        With a studio monitor headphone, in my personal taste, it doesn't look so tacky as a gaming headset when I use it outdoors.
