Good price for western digital, but nothing special.

  • does this need seperate power other than usb? (Simply plug it in to a USBport and start saving your)

It is 3.5", not a 2.5" laptop drive, so yes. Comes with 12V plug-pack.

The 5V 2.5" drives have half the capacity at similar price.

    What a load..

  • 1TB drive is $78 for anyone that is interested, Officeworks aswell.

  • I missed out on the Samsung deal last time and is considering this deal. However, as it's more expensive, how is Western Digital better than Samsung?

  • WD is more reliable. imho.

  • Mmmm, not really a bargain if all you're looking for is a bare-bones, USB 2.0 external with no added crapware.

The Samsung G3 Station 2TB at MSY, UMart, PCCaseGear and ARC is a much better deal: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=samsung+g3+…

To be fair this is still quite a good price for a mainstream retailer though.
