Considering its nearly February, its a lot of money to spend when the next iPhone is expected in June.

    • Just keep in mind that Australia won't be the first countries to get the new iPhone and there will be a 3+ week waiting period by the time you receive it.

Nah, it's our turn to get it first this time around…

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi! Oi! Oi!! - enough to get Steve Jobs off sick leave…. ROFL

  • Yeah I would not buy a new one right now. If you want an iPhone buy a 3G or 3GS off ebay they start at about $350-$400 and most are in good condition.

  • MegaMemory thanks for posting the deal, just bought one now. Will do salary sacrifice and the deal will be even cheap.

Can i neg based on the fact that 1 month ago it was $799 from the same group? :P

edit: also had free delivery :S

    • Not really - read the negative voting guidelines, but then its up to the community to chastise you. And really what do you achieve, that deal is no longer available, you know when I was a kid ice creams cost 3d etc etc. AND the poster declared that already so no great detective work here.

Raise the point like you did but the vote is over the top. Unless of course you know how to get it cheaper. The last "deal" sold out very quickly so like all auctioneers they probably want to get the best price they can.

    • Just because it's not as cheap as there last sale, doesn't mean it's not a bargain now.

With the comments about not buying now a new one in 6 months, and ebay brings stimulates the old brain cells

    • My ebay shows 3GS 32GB Phone at $435 with a few hours to go. 3G is just so old so whats the point.

    • On a visit with my sister to a Phone store, the salesperson was telling us how the iphone 5 was coming out in June so wait. And the iphone 4 was buggy so hopefully the iphone 5 would fix the reception issues, then promptly tried to sell her an Android phone.

Que? Mr Phone Store man. You said wait for the iphone5 but buy the Android phone now? Umm what do you "logically" call that, I even tried to find it on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_logic

    • Always look at the total cost. Unlocked for $859 (32gb) vs a plan. Also factor in the value of the plan or your data and calling. Say a TPG BYO plan at $19 over 24 months = 456 so total package = $1315. So what can you get from a provider with some of the deals being offered, like with NRMA (vodafail) or Telstra ($200 sign on)
  • 3G is still a very functional iPhone and can do pretty much everything the 4 can do except HD video recording..

Most people will be happy with an Iphone they dont give a stuff about all the technical details because they just want a 'cool' phone. iphone 3G is still very popular on ebay along with the 3GS. if you can get a iphone for $400 or so i would say thats a pretty good deal.. as long as its been looked after with screen protector etc.

    • with this new iphone5 that everyone "knows" about due in "june" the same scuttle butt is that it wont run the new software upgrade at that time. So yes while pretty functional I question is $400 a fair price, a "bargain" maybe at 200-300, Thats all

  • I wouldn't buy a 3G even at $300. I grabbed mine out of the cupboard and it doesn't compare to the phones today.
There are better value phones out there. But I guess it's the iphone appeal.

    • now here's a chance to sell it….

    • lol your a strange fella. 3G is just as good as any other phone available.

      • you must be an fanatic apple fanboy. had the 3g and now im using iphone 4. The difference is really big
