JUST BEAR IN MIND, lifetime is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more. The useful life of the smartphone app means the period of time that TomTom continues to support the app with updates.

I bought Tomtom 6100 which came with "lifetime traffic" from TomTom …..
but lifetime has accidently ended this year with the end of Vodafone 2G.

      • It's not exactly TomTom's fault that Vodafone closed its 2G network. Hardware becomes obsolete over time… this is what's happened here.

        • Mine doesnt even connect via WIFI nor cell. Why was its lifetime ended? Too inconvenient to keep producing maps that for in the memory the unit carries. Lifetime is total BS.

      • I've read on whirlpool that some people got affected by this successfully got a $350 voucher from TomTom to purchase a new device

  • Parents always prefer the stand alone GPS. They currently have the older entry level Tomtom GO 51 with free lifetime World Maps and Camera updates but requites connection via mobile for live traffic/cameras.

Myself prefer to use the free Here We Go GPS app with free map and camera updates on my phone.

There has been a lengthy discussion on the TomTom forum in regards to the models with inuilt 2G for live traffic and cameras if anybody wants to read.
