  • Thanks👍 Ordered for collection.

    • Ordered to pay from Brisbane store without stock (available in 1-2 days). Was doubtful of order arriving with stock quickly sold out… Received email - available for collection now😀

If it's like the copy I received when I bought a work laptop, it's just a card with a license key on it, so it sucks there's no digital delivery.

    • +1

Create an account on the Acronis web site. And then register the license key on it then you should be able to digitally download the product. The license key will permanently show on the Acronis account. It will be a digital download delivery.

      • +4

I think they're talking about the delivery fee

        • Oh i thought he meant that it's just a license key card but no way to download the product. I thought digital delivery meant the same as digital download. My mistake.

      • +1

Yes, but umart would still charge $13 for delivery

        • Charged $11 for me for vic metro delivery.

        • +1

Comes for me as $11 for qld regional delivery. Not that i'm going to buy it.

Does this include the bootable ISO for imaging systems? Fantastic tool, i use an older version but wouldnt mind upgrading.

    • You can make the bootable disk from within the program itself (winPE envirnonment) plus you can make a recovery disk for your system

  • +3

Their previous version I have a lot of trouble as it muck up the partition when I restored the image to the same computer. Not sure about this version. Clonzillar is now what I used.

    • same, screwed up my computer big time

not even willing to try new versions

    • +1

Yeah i bought a Crucial MX500 recently and the free acronis provided by crucial mucked up the cloning and i had to use free version of Aomei backupper instead.Strange as Acronis is considered as one of the best ones.I bought it anyway as its only $12 totally. Wouldnt pay $69.99 on the website or the Umart $99 price for this though.

There are more than a dozen free applications for windows which will do a basic backup and restore and many will do far more.Good enough for a home user i would think.

    • Same here. Wouldn't restore my backup to the raid 0 setup I religiously backed up every week. Luckily I use a cloud backup for my data. Did a fresh install, then restored the data.

    • +1

      Thank you all.

Someone was saying the other day that restoring from OS partition backups "rarely" goes wrong. This was in relation to using a cheap and nasty off brand SSDs as an OS drive.

Annecdotes are not hard scientific evidence, but this still makes me confident I'm not some sort of weird outlier. I don't bother with OS partition backups anymore. (Irreplaceable data is a different story - multiple backups and at least one off site!!)

    • I used all the past versions for many years (since ATI 11 back in 2008) on many, many computers both for work, friends, and home.

I've used it to switch computers to SSDs, move installations over to a different computer, and just for backing up.

I have never encountered any data loss whatsoever.

I've also used Clonezilla. It worked fine, but the Acronis UI is far more intuitive - especially when the target disk is smaller than the original disk (e.g. when switching a computer to an SSD).

I've also used Paragon Backup & Recovery, Macrium Reflect Free, and Easeus ToDo Backup. They all worked the few times I used them, but I still feel that Acronis is more flexible.

      • On the surface everything looks fine but when you look into the partition, it is different to the original. It creates more partitions and since it is not a matching clone on restore, I am very nervous in using it.

        • Hmm, I've never seen it create more partitions than the original drive. Not sure what's going on there!

Lookup Gandalf’s Windows PE. Will build a boot USB with half a dozen cloning tools, among many many other tools.
That being said, I bought one licence anyway.

    • Gandalf’s Windows PE looks very nice indeed. Will try it out.

  • checked Victoria, the Mount Waverly store is closed, opted for delivery $11.

Thanks OP, this is the same ahem "trial" version I use at home, now I can finally get rid of this damn eye patch and parrot.

  • Thanks OP. bought one. Too bad pickup unavailable Umart-VIC :(

  • Thanks OP , bought one , paid by paypal $1.02 , pick up at Hurstville , at least has a licence to use .

  • You can save yourself $1 and a trip to Umart by using Veeam Agent for Windows/Linux Free Edition.

  • Seems to be in the process of being ozbargained.

Its only in stock in the QLD Sunshine Coast store, and showing as pre order or out of stock everywhere else.

I might have to mark this as expired soon as pre order states:

"This item is out of stock, by placing a Pre Order you will be next in line for fulfilment as stock arrives. Unfortunately, if the estimated time of arrival is not stated above, then it has not been provided to Umart".

    • Nope.

Coming up as in stock, 1-2, 3-5 and 5-7 days now.

The translation of that message when it comes to Umart is: "We will never mention that you wanted this product ever again. When you enquire about it 6 months from now, we will just cancel your order".

  • Thanks OP. Ordered 3 and it actually let me complete the transaction… see what happens next.

    • Darn.Should have tried ordering more.

    • +2

Next thing you know they've cancelled your order because you ordered too many and then you miss out totally. Too bad.

      • Exactly what just happened. Placed another order.

        • I hope for only 1 this time. If you ordered 2 it would probably also get cancelled.

And you were lucky they cancelled the order at that particular time and you then re-ordered as it's now showing as sold out. So no longer can be ordered.

  • Thanks OP. From what i have read this is the gold standard app for backup and system migration. Great price even with 12 buck postage.

Veeam has a free business grade backup tool for physical machines.

    https://www.veeam.com/windows-endpoint-server-backup-free.ht…

I would prefer that over acronis any day. Also free.

    • Thanks for link, have registered. May be worth its own deal.

    • I would prefer that over acronis any day. Also free.

Apart from being free, why do you prefer it?

      • Its better. Its a business grade product as opposed to a consumer so its more stable.

        • Is it actually more stable in reality?

    • 'for physical machines'

Just Windows based machines. No good for ANY other OSs, unlike so many other utils, inc. Acronis's.

  • Is this a one year license? If so what is the renewal price next year? $99?

    • +1

The standard version which this is only comes as a lifetime license.

    • I believe it's just the 2018 version (all updates for 2018) of the software, that will keep working but won't gain new features in 2019.

      • It will have all available updates for the 2018 version. This is the standard release too which is a lifetime license.

  • No longer available. Sold out.

  • Seems still available for Sunshine Coast Queensland.

    • Well it's showing as pre-order for that store which essentially means out of stock.

  • +2

I have used previous version of Acronis but now I use Macrium Reflect free and very happy.
I have used it to move to SSD as well.

You can use free edition for home & business as well.

  • Price back to $69.

Acronis is crap, has on many occasions, stuffed drives and partitions in my experience over the years!

Acronis is crap, has on many occasions, stuffed drives and partitions in my experience over the years!

I've used it since ATI11 in 2008 on many, many, maaaany computers and none of them got stuffed up. Never lost any data.

But with any piece of software, someone will have a bad experience somewhere. e.g. CloneZilla.

  • +1

Got mine, there is a big word FREEE on the licence piece.
I guess the dollar was more like a handling fee…

    • -1

Nope the $11 was for the postage and handling. $1 was the item price. It's not like you got free delivery. You still paid the initial $1 whether you chose delivery or pickup it didn't matter.

      • Nope :)
$11 for postage and handling of postage
$1 for over the counter and accounting costs
        Fair enough :D

        • Or the system won't allow a product to be listed for sale as $0 but a $1 minimum. So they had to put it as $1.

    • Looks like it was some software that was bundled with something.
I guess $1 is still a good deal (assuming it is the full version), but $69 is a rip-off for this version.

      • Yes, eg Computer Alliance was bundling this with computers recently.
Finally collected my $1 "free" license yesterday.

  • +1

link to a site that links to giveaway deals

    https://giveawayradar.weebly.com/

  • Gee it seems to be back in stock but suddenly now at $69. So what they were selling for $1 yesterday now is $69.

  • If you have a seagate or Samsung drive in your system you can use the free Samsung Migration Software (which I understand is a customised version of Acronis):
    http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/t…
    https://s3.ap-northeast-2.amazonaws.com/global.semi.static/S…

It wont work if it doesn't detect a Samsung or Seagate drive (this doesn't need to be the drive you are backing-up from or to, but just needs to be plugged into the computer).
