    Dat processor though.

    • Agreed, truly awful CPU. You can get an i5 8th gen for the same price.

        "awful"

it's 3.1Ghz SC turbo, with 2.8Ghz DC turbo.

it's a hair slower than the 6-7th gen 15w U series chips and even then it still puts up a hell of a fight for daily tasks.

        • +1

It's a 5W CPU. It will throttle very quickly at those speeds into something much slower.

There's a reason why high TDP CPUs exist. If you could pull off speeds like 2.8ghz with only 5W without any tradeoffs, who would want a 45W CPU? There would be no market for 45W or even 15W CPUs if you can do these kind of speeds at 5W.

It's not going to get enough power to maintain that speed for very long.

It would be a great processor if it was running Android. But Windows 10 is not a light OS for a mobile device. It's not going to be snappy, and you will experience random lags.

        • +2

          TDP =/= actual power consumption.

You can easily turn all the turbo timers up in XTU and hit perfectly fine speeds most of the time (considering the m7 is the same rcp as the 6500u, i'm gonna assume it's binned quite well.)

These chips turbo like insanity, m3-6y30 often remains around 2Ghz flat when under 70% load, and sticks there when capped at 4.5w.

the m3-6y30 inside my yoga 700 11inch genuinely convinced me that these chips are speed demons for general end user tasks.

      • not with that screen , 3200 x 1800, and size SSD you wont …..

    • Not wrong, wasn’t going to post it as thought it was refurbished but being new it’s price isn’t to bad for majority of the specs..

      • You're right for this price and being brand new.. it is tempting. Would not be the best for anything intensive though.

        • Consider the Lenovo first I’ve added to the post, refurb but specs are much better

      • With NVMe SSD in the title and SATA SSD hidden in the description I wouldn't trust grays wording of "new/resealed".

"A new, unused item with absolutely no signs of wear. The item may be missing the original packaging, or in the original packaging but not sealed. The item may be a factory second or a new, unused item with defects."

I have this processor (m7) and it hasn't skipped a beat no matter what I've thrown at it. And I've thrown a lot at it.
It's deliberately underclocked to be power efficient. Also it's a silent processor.

There's two things an i core couldn't get me.

Disclaimer: I only paid $479 for mine, (Lenovo Ideapad Miix 700 - FHD+ display) around this price there was also an i5 7th Gen but at this price there are other options.

      • I have the same miix, but m5, paid $380. really happy with the screen! 16M colours with quite accurate sRGB reproduction. make sure you grab calibrated icc profile from NotebookCheck review page!

        • make sure you grab calibrated ICC profile from NotebookCheck review page!

Cheers, I haven't done this yet!

Yeah really happy with my screen too! Just the keypad is sometimes a bit lacking but I'm not doing mad typing sessions on it anyway.

        • @pennypincher98: I can point you in the direction of the solution for that one, too, if you like. not the ideal solution, but you can decide whether you want to do it or not. just don't update folio firmware without reading the thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-based-Tablets/Miix-700-…

        • @pennypincher98: by the way, do you need the Lenovo Active Pen? I have a brand new one, sealed and everything. for some reason I got 2 :D

        • @kasaresj: haha I've still got one but you know I'm always losing things lol
Funnily enough it was the power brick (had the cable) I needed but then I found it again and now I have two cables..

Btw what do the buttons on the pen do? Haven't been able to get them to do anything..

Cheers for all that information though ;)

        • @pennypincher98: it's been a while since I used the active pen, so I don't remember, I think they kind of do something lol I remember there was a topic on that forum I linked above, on how to get the buttons do something :D

        • @kasaresj:

I think they kind of do something lol

Legit me with all new technology hahaha

          Cheers.

Title lists NVMe. Description lists SATA.

Two different technologies on M.2 and SATA is way slower.

    • Yeah typical practice for Grays.

Makes me wonder what they really mean by "resealed".

  • 3200 x 1800 and touch screen ….first one I've seen under $1000.

  • Been pulling my hair out recently looking for silent laptops with reasonable performance. Had plenty of options when the Core M came out - now there's practically nothing. The Latitudes look promising after reading the Notebookcheck review.

  • Having only 6hrs batt life has killed it for me.

  • Bought the Lenovo YOGA 720 which worked fine for a day and then won't boot up at all. Looks like it could be a motherboard failure so I wonder what they did during the refurbishment process.

Hope the warranty process isn't too painful.

    • I’d just ask for a refund if it’s faulty that quick
