Could just be end of season stock sell out. A lot of fashion stores sell old lines for 50% off. That's kind of normal, in fact.
PS - EVERY business has a healthy mark up. But if they didn't, they wouldn't survive.

People on this site bitch when the discounts are too small, and they bitch when the discounts are too high - lol.
Don't think anyone would complain it they were genuine discounts, but it's usually a huge discount off an inflated RRP or a price they never sold them for.

These sunglasses cost about $4.50AUD to $12.00AUD to import for the bamboo ones and even less for the plastic ones (think: $2.50AUD)
How do I know? Because I did this about a year or two ago with a small business selling these sunglasses and have a bunch of them laying around still. The markups are insane. So many of these companies and they all buy from the same Chinese manufacturer.
I also thought OzBargain shart all over these sorts of promotions? They are also not "handmade" in the sense that you would expect when it is mentioned. They are handmade overseas in the factory, not by the company you're buying them from.

If you can afford to give a 50% discount and still make a profit then it begs the question of what the mark-up is?
