Two labels + $1 postage in exchange for my details and endless spam?

    Yeah no thanks.

    • its free shipping

      • Yeah, but it's an expense for them nonetheless.
So I'm receiving two labels and the equivalent of $1 (by way of free postage) in exchange for handing my details over.

        Cool Not cool.

    • you can use disposable emails :)

      • But sadly I can't use a disposable address…

    • did they actually spam you?

  • I just ordered a sample and didn't have to pay any postage.

Looks like a small business, probably run out of a home, so possibly best not to OzBargain this one! Just a thought.

    • Sweet innocent child…

This is my business and I did not ask for the free samples to be posted here. It was aimed at my own followers on Facebook and Instagram and was an offer for people who are genuinely interested in my products but wanted to see the quality before purchasing. It was not my intention to attract people who just want something because it’s free.

So I have added a postage fee to sift out those who aren’t actually interested in purchasing my labels.

It is also not an attempt to get email addresses as I have never even sent emails to my customers who have signed up to receive emails.

So, if you are genuinely interested in pantry or spice jar labels, by all means sign up for the samples and I can promise you that you will not be bombarded with emails.

    Thank you.

    • Well well well…

      Gday OP
I was the one that posted your sample here. Whilst I can see where you're coming from, I think that you may have disregarded the effect that Ozbargain has. I don't have stats but I'm guessing there would have been heaps of revenue generated for the retailers that have had their products listed here. Further, to question that people on Ozbargain may or may not be "genuinely interested" is a bit of an insult to the Ozbargain community in my view. I wonder what your feeling will be if you had more business from Ozbargain than Facebook and Instagram?

Also, I don't think many of the posts here on Ozbargain are made with the retailer's permission (with the exception of store reps of course). I think Ozbargain is doing all retailers, including yourself, a huge favour by marketing products that potential customers may take up. If permission was required for every posts then Ozbargain wouldn't exist.

I’m not implying that you require permission to post these offers. I was responding to suggestions that it was just an attempt to obtain email addresses for the purposes of spamming. The offer of free samples was targeted to real potential customers, not as a database growing exercise which is what I meant by saying it wasn’t me that posted it here.

Hopefully it is better than Facebook and Instagram!

This is quite obviously a small business that you have imposed a huge cost on by posting here, were you specifically looking for pretty pantry labels? Or did you sign up just to get something for free? Most will be the latter and this retailer will never have them return.

$5 - receive all 9 pantry and 9 spice label samples

    or… print your own

      Our labels are waterproof vinyl.

    • As someone who deals with commercial digital printers all the time, its pricing is quite decent.

A sheet of A4 vinyl stickers probably has 9 - 12 labels. To have it waterproofed, it has to be printed on the laser. I can tell you, it's' super tedious to align it up correctly (office work likely won't do it for a normal price). If you DIY, then you will have to buy the vinyl labels sheets in a large pack (they aren't cheap), create the design and set it up, etc. A shop I worked with would have charged the print + label for $9 / sheet as we have to factor in the setup time.

Of course, it can go cheaper if you get it done offset for like 1,000 copies +.
