Nice one Regie69, ordered 5 bags for click and collect. Haven't tried before but hopefully they impart a good flavour. Cheers
Same here. Good price for lump wood charcoal. Thanks OP. Time to a family bbq!
"hopefully they impart a good flavour"
no odour or taste transfer to food
yep, you need to add wood to get smokey flavour, charcoal just provides the heat.
note these are briquettes which have sand and a binder unlike proper lump charcoal which is just charcoal with no fillers or extenders ….
might be worth to check out bunnings for lump charcoal and not pay for the sand which is a fair bit of the weight.
bunnings really seem to have increased their stock of bbq fuel (lump charcoal and briquettes) since they started stocking smokers.
instead of paying $10kg for smoking chips , get friendly with your local wood fire pizza place as they get wood delivered by the truck, eg buy pizza and they give you a free piece of wood …effectively makes pizza free if you had to pay for smoking wood from bbq galore.
the data sheet reckons 100% wood charcoal with food starch binder …. will head out to get some and see what it's like …. it they didn't add sand then this will be a great deal as you can also use it in the hibachis , etc.
