Nice little deal for anyone in the market for one of these cameras.
The Grip alone runs about $700 add a D5 battery and you will be at 9fps with a gorgeous 46mp sensor.

I did manage to get Jb HiFi to match as I have a number of vouchers from them.

They also have the body alone on special.
Happy shooting.

  • It says 4768

    • My mistake read it wrong.

  • It is a brilliant camera, especially shooting in low light.

  • So just comes with the battery in the camera and you need to buy an extra one for the grip yeah?

    • Yes.
      You have 3 choices
      AA batteries x8
      En-el15
D5 battery, will gibe you 9fps but you will need the chamber cover bl-5 and the charger. Genuine charger is crazy 400+, I got a dste one instead for 100.

      • did you buy the Genuine D5 (EN-EL18) battery?
I'm looking into the Better Batt + 3rd party charger … advice appreciated :)

        • I bought two genuine ones. 149 each from digital camera warehouse. The BL-5 cover I bought off eBay and the charger as well, same seller both DSTE. Charger has worked well and certainly a lot cheaper than the OEM Nikon.

There's some issues with some aftermarket batteries working and some not to get 9fps. Although some of them were using aftermarket grips as well.

From memory when I was looking at batteries an aftermarket one was still around the 90-100 mark so I was happy to pay the extra for genuine Nikons.

So my advice is genuine batteries, they go foran aftermarket charger and cover. DSTE or wasabi brand.

          The battery
          On special

  • That's a beast of a camera alright. Tried the D800 and it is superb. I'm still rocking my D700 with grip and i adore on what this 12MP sensor can produce.

    Oh boy…what have I done…..
OP you are a bad influence (or a legend)!

  • "Taah-Taah-Tahh, Minolta 7000" aka Singapore 1980's!

  • I am considering D810 because of the price. How better is this in terms of image quality and colors etc?

    • The D810 is still a great camera - I currently own one.
From reviews and mates' experiences, this is by far superb if you do a lot of high iso work and require the higher mp.
Not forgetting the updated AF which will be better than the D810, but not as good as the D5, despite being the same module.

DR is slightly improved. I would say the D850 is for a working professional who knows what they want and know why the need the upgrade.
In contrast, I just like toys and am silly enough to spend stupid $$ on a great camera which I don't need.

      • Thanks mate. This was helpful. I am newbie jumping from an old and outdated d5100. i just want to do some freelance work mostly portraits and stuff I think D810 should work fine for that purpose.

        • I woudln't have had a reason to buy this if it wasn't a good deal!
It's a big pressie to myself for a significant event and the timing of this deal feels like my destiny!

You will find the D810 far superior and amazing to the D5100 (as expected). Being your first FX, I'd save the coin if you don't 'need' the D850, and spend the time and cost saving on learning the inside/outs of the D810 and when you can justify the purchase for the upgrade, go for it. Unless you're like me and just want everything!

    Nikon D850 Body + 24-120mm VR is $5849.96 and $200 gift card

To be honest this is not one of Nikon's better lenses.
Its the only lens of many that I got and sold. I paid 700$ for it.
On a body like the 850 good glass matters.

If you don't want the grip you can get the camera for under 4500 at camera house.
Which is still better than getting the 24-105 and selling it and the 200 gift card.

      • agreed. avoid kit lenses unless it's exactly what you want. IT may be better than the usual kit…but the lens the D850 is paired with should be able to resolve 46mp.

        • Hi can you suggest any affordable lens? I got a 50mm 1.8g prime lens for d5100 that i am playing to keep for d8xx. Can you suggest some lens??
