  • Sorry for a noob question, is RAM & Storage upgradable by user on these machines ??

    • Yes.

    • +2

yes and the bonus is that it also takes a 2.5” sata drive …..so you can add 2 tb of slow storage cheap for movies , backups, etc and the 256gb ssd is enough for windows, office 365 and other programs and music collection.

i have the 2017 version of this laptop and it’s a great machine if you are happy with 15.6” form factor (some like 13 &14” for uni lecture desk space) , fits into my crumpler fine as i have a large crumpler.

great for people who wanted a desktop but due to apartment space can only accommodate a laptop.
i have office on mine with 16gb ram but it has never gone past 8gb even with excel, word and visio open, so only upgrade if you need it and you have actually found that it has hit 8gb used in what you do.

  • thats a good deal
    sucks I'm broke

  • Really tempting. Can someone confirm that this is eligible for cashrewards given the code "CYBER" is not listed on the cashrewards website. @TA?

Isn't the Asus above better graphics and hd?

    • +2

both are fhd … in regards to graphics card …. if you are after gaming check if you games run better on amd or nvidia and which chips ……

also the graphics card versions are mobile versions ….. don’t confuse with the full blown versions and same model numbers used in desktops.

these laptops will never compete with a desktop for gaming on a $ performance basis, but primarily they also don’t try to compete with desktops as gaming rigs.

yeah the GTX 1050 should be a better graphics card, but this one has the i7-8550u processor which outperforms i5-7300HQ by a pretty good margin. We'll typically see 7th gen processor laptops on run out deals now. Also the ASUS gaming laptop has thick bezels which i don't think is as nice.

  • Got it, thanks OP!
