    Any bargains ?

      Yes

      • +1

None a listed in the deal post.

  • Eg. 1500D Single lens kit. Cheapest Oz stock I can find.

    Also 200D Single lens kit.

Most of the discounted ones are the cheapest for Oz stocks.

Nice post but these two cameras are not better than iPhones, or even worse if you consider the size and weight.

      • Difference category. These are ILCs.

    • Yes. Thats the cheapest. But I would rather buy the iii's version.

      • Interesting… For me, personally - don't really care about video. So I'd rather save the couple hundred and get an Mk2,

        https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/olympus-vs-olympus/omd-em10…

        Review summary:

Overall the Mk3 lost a few features and became more plastic than metal..

Choose the OM-D E-M10 Mark II if you:
        •want to save some money
•want more manual controls and customisation

Choose the OM-D E-M10 Mark III if you:
•want a camera that is beginner friendly and more intuitive
        •are interested in recording 4K video hand-held

You maybe right. Olympus cameras are not that tech progressive. So only gradual improvement, in this case 4K and bit better AF. Definitely go for ii's version if 4K is not important for you. Personally I feel the grip on the latest is better, and the camera indeed a bit heavier.

I got the mark 2 over 1 year ago for $550 plus i received a $150 preloaded debit card. Unbelievable how much the price has gone up

        • @Winston100s: If you're referring to the JB price error, that's not a relevant comparison. The price went back up within hours.

You get a $200 JB gift card with certain cameras like the 6DM2.

    • Good point. I'll add to the description.

      • $2039 for a 6d mk2 + a $ 200 gift card= the want is strong.

I’m travelling in August. If only this was doable with TRS.

Make sure you read some reviews before investing in the 6DII. Even micro four thirds has surpassed it: http://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm#Canon%20EOS%20…

If image quality is important then there's lots of better options out there in the crop sensor world. However if your mind is set on full-frame then literally everything else will prove vastly superior in every conceivable way :)

        • @soothslayer:

I’m already committed to the EF system and the 6d-2 has all of the features I’d like. Articulating touch screen, GPS, FF, improved AF. It doesn’t do 4K (NBD for me) and the dynamic range could be better, but otherwise it’s a good package. YMMV.

Managed to snag a refurbished D7200 from a Nikon Australian Reseller on eBay for ~$800. Only has a shutter count of ~600 and I'll get the GST back too with TRS! (Together with an 18-200 VR II I have lying around at home, this makes a beast of a walkabout/travel combo.)

JB still has a pretty decent price for new ones though.

  • Blah no d3400 😔

  • Being on a m43… If I had to do it again I'd go FF mirrorless. Even my 25mm f1.4 isn't good enough to get enough shallow DOF. Now as an Asian I am too far deep in the investment to do anything about it :( I envy my friends shots on his Canon 5d mk3, except the weight and size of it.

    • Interesting… I think it's plenty of shallow DOF.

I just searched for some photos taken with your lens - so much shallow DOF!

But I guess at the end of the day, each to their own.

      • Mainly they are relatively close up shots or like top half of the body. It'd be nice to have a shallow DOF with almost the whole body in the frame. Or even more shallow for the top half of body.

Even like for like the cheap Sony FE 50mm f1.8 $350 lens is better. Although I do hate the size of their other lenses apart from Sony 35mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8.

I think you are being a bit unfair on your M43.

          25mm f1.4 - fair enough. Can't expect epic DOF, but then again it's 25mm.

          But see these 75mm f1.8 shots from a m43 : https://www.flickr.com/groups/1918701@N21/pool/

I think above 45mm the M43 catches up to FF cameras.

I feel like it's 85% of the result of FF, for 50% of the price and size.

  • I keep looking at the "tough" cameras in JB HiFi to replace my old one that wasn't quite tough enough to survive a 10 metre drop (not that I expected it to, it fell out of my pocket). There's a big price gap between the rather basic $200 Lumix and the next lot, which are all around $500. Does anyone have any recommendations that fall somewhere in the middle?
