It probably won't get much cheaper than this. I bought version 1 of this when it came out for a bit over $300, and even at that price I was really happy with the performance. If you can afford this it is well worth it, I spent a lot of time beforehand dealing with powerline and range extenders (which didn't work well in my house coz my house is long), but this router solved all the problems I had with range and speed.
How cheaper are you wanting :-p You can get something in these lines https://www.tp-link.com/au/EOFY/ get the ac2300 for $181 with PULL5 and then use the $50 cash redemption offer that is $181-50 $130 :-X win win for u.
thks grabbed the C3150 , not worth waiting to save a few more bucks, might as well enjoy now.
grabbed one too. will feedback as to any improvements i are over my trusty r7000.
What would be better for a 2 storey house?
This one or the Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-PRO?
For a 2 storey house get a mesh setup.
Ubiquiti are good. But head to conversation here for further research,

Version 2 of the C3150 is selling for $239 at Wireless1 site, while version 1 is on sale at EB Games for $185. Is the v2 worth the extra $54?
i have the ac1600 , the baby adsl version.
bought it to replace an asus AC and haven’t looked back.
am now on optus cable and it runs as a router not modem and it still works fine ….. have wanted the c3150 but it’s always a cost issue.
i have never found the software features lacking , even used it to drive a 4g dongle while i waited for adsl to be fixed at one one time, and then waited for optus cable to be installed after i got sick of waiting for adsl to be fixed.
anybody know of a cheaper deal ?
