Not really a bargain when us tax payers front the bill !

Just keep in mind only the tunnel part is free, not airport link M7 part.

which is named airport link not clem 7

    • +1

airport link is also a tunnel but yes, worth pointing out it's the journey under the river that's free

Oooh free tunnel! how much for shipping?

    • +9

      Car, not ship.

  • Good time to take a walk across the Story Bridge. No traffic noise & still open for pedestrians. Great views & exercise are a bonus.

    • +9

no traffic noise but heavy machinery dust and asphalt pouring - no thanks!

      • True, hopefully pick a time between asphalt removal & replacement😀 I'm not a fan of asphalt fumes.

Brisbane City Council said essential waterproofing works need to be carried out to protect the concrete from water damage.
Council has been working on the issue for a few years, but decided the only way to properly fix it was to fully close the bridge.

        The works will involve:
full closure of the Story Bridge
removal of the asphalt from the concrete deck
cleaning of the concrete to ensure the product adheres effectively
applying the waterproofing membrane to the cleaned concrete surface
laying a new asphalt top surface
        line marking
        bridge joint resealing.

        • Or close the bridge completely and force everyone through the tunnel after they remove free travel. They already tried to drop speed limit on it, they can say it's not suitable for vehicles any more and make it a pedestrian. Only bridge

      • It links up with the Glen 20

You are a clever mob in BrisVegas. Nice one.

You should see what we named our river

        • And the 2 gateway bridges with unpronounceable names over the top of it…

    • +7

      Beware the speed cameras

  • They're probably going to up the toll once it's open again to recoup the losses lol

  • Remember the song, Streets Of Your Town by The Go-Betweens… good song to sing driving over the Go Between Bridge.
