  • Thanks for posting i needed one.

  • Hopefully we will see 750GB for $140 in the near future.

750GB MX300 for $143 … although there was a much better deal for a Ramsta branded SSD $81(?) for 500GB which didn't get much traction presumably because of brand.

Odds are they use the same components.

Nice, might wait for the MX500 version though. Do they even have a 750gb MX500?

        (edit: apparantly not (yet?) )

      • +1

I looked at the RAMSTA, but wasn't much info around, all I could find was uses Hynix 3D NAND, nothing about controller or stuff.
Thought about getting one but am more after 750GB or 1TB for notebooks.

Should have gotten the 500GB just to see what they are like , at that price was low risk and could always use in a USB case hanging off the Android TV box

I installed the 500gb in my Imac. Absolutely awesome upgrade. Just had to also get the patch lead to fix the fan running at full speed issue but that only cost a few extra dollars. Pretty easy upgrade in the 2011 Imac

    • Could have save a few dollars and used smcfancontrol,

I've upgraded 3 pre-2012 imacs so far like this and it is awesome!

  • You can get WD green 240gb off ebay for $81. Wouldnt that be better value than the kingston?

  • Got a 500gb for $170 to replace mine that I thought was on the fritz last time, turns out it was fine so I sold it on Gumtree for $200.

    So why not order another!

  • I just bought the Crucial MX500 1TB for $284.40, is this a good deal?

Good price, are you able to share the link and T&C

      • +4

There was only 1 in stock, the price is after applying PAYBACK.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crucial-MX500-1TB-2-5-SATA-SSD-3…

There are many good bargains you can get with this code.

There's also a DDR4 16GB 3400MHz CL16 memory kit you can get for $233.99 after the code on ebay atm, compare that to any local PC store prices…ridiculous

    • 1TB for $284 for an MX500 is a good price and where they should be ….. but usually above $300 and drops down to $300 with Ebay deals.

      for $284 I'd get one …..

I'd rather pay a bit more and buy it from a physical shop like MSY. In case of problem, it's easier to get replacement.

msy prices, more often than not, are for out of stock items - you'll probably find you'll be paying much more

if you are going to use a physical store at least use a reputable one

Oh for gods sake can SSD prices just get back on the realistic price drop curve again already. Enough of this nonsense about supply and demand because smartphones are now using the same NAND chips. There has been more than enough time to ramp up production.

Concerned: I swear the only prices changing lately are standard hard drives, the difference between a 500gb and a 1tb is negligible these days, it's still practically double the price with ssd's to double your storage. ridiculous
Don't get me started on Gpu's or ddr4 ram lol

      • I know right? When a "great deal" on a 1TB SSD is the same farking price it was 2 years ago we know we're knee deep in price collusion. DDR4 is an even more obnoxious example.

GPUs at least there is a clear reason; Miners were buying them up so retailers saw an opportunity to increase their profit margins 1000%.

Yeah there was a reason behind the gpu pricing. I don't believe it's going to be a problem for a lot longer. Taiwan gpu manufacturers stated that April was 40% down on orders/shipments and Bitmain have sold out there new Ethereum ASIC miner's and they ship in June. They are $800 usd for 180mh at 800w. It would take 4 1080ti's to get that sort of hash rate at a higher power consumption and of course a much higher cost (5-6kusd rig at least with 4x 1080ti's).

I am hoping that these ASIC's will push the difficulty up so high that gpu's become unprofitable to mine Ethereum just like ASIC's made it unprofitable to mine with gpu's on Bitcoin. The second hand market is still way overpriced so I don't see it happening too quickly. So many people still ask for 80-90% of the new price for a second hand card that's been thrashed for the last year… This doesn't make any sense to me when you can buy a new one with warranty for 10/20% more. I hope Nvidia pull their finger out and release the 1100 series soon.

      • The way HHD were made made the 500gb same price with 1TB - they were physically same drives, the controller chip on the 500GB drive tells the system it's 500GB.

  • bought one. Thanks for this post.

  • Need a m.2 SSD.
