  • Makes me wish Movies Anywhere was available in Australia cause I don't own an Apple device and would prefer not to install iTunes just for watching movies when most of my library is on Google Play with a few on Microsoft Films & TV.

That's the real problem with digital media. I've got my music on Google Play, my movies/tv shows on Apple iTunes, e-books on Amazon Kindle, audiobooks on Audible and digital magazine subscriptions on Zinio. There's also a swag of movies/tv shows on Ultraviolet but they were free (they came with blu-rays) and are almost never watched. It would be so nice to have everything in one place but that just isn't going to happen.

      • Downpour for (unprotected) audiobooks.

        • Yes, Downpour is excellent and I have a sizable collection from them but many of the titles I wanted were only available from Audible (at the time).

    • My MoviesAnywhere US account linked my AUS Google Play movies…

      • How did you pull that off? I tried that a few months back and I kept getting hit with a geoblock even while using a VPN

        • Exactly the same problem I ran into when trying to sign up using a VPN.

        • How did you pull that off?

I think I what I did was to look up some free proxy servers and kept trying till one worked. Once the account is set up, I can then use my iPad and Apple TV.

At the moment to get the full value of iTunes 4K HDR you have to have an Apple TV 4K.

(And a 4K Tele of course)

The Apple TV 4K 64GB can be had for around $250 on eBay with the current 10% off code which (in my view) makes it a steal if you are tied to the Apple eco-system. Just a couple of weeks ago I used iTunes to pick up all 8 seasons of "Monk" for just $30, the complete "24" for $60 and the complete "Seinfeld" for $70. As I used iTunes cards I bought from Officeworks with their 15% off, they were even cheaper. To cap it off, all of them are Full HD. You can't get Monk or Seinfeld on blu-ray and only the last three seasons of 24 were ever released on blu-ray. As a comparison, Google Play have each season of Monk for $36.

      • Is monk still $30 ??
        Shows as more for me

It was $30 when I bought it a couple of weeks ago as stated above. I think it's now back to $60 for the Complete Collection (8 seasons in HD), which is still way better than $36 a season. Also, House (the Complete Collection) is still $60 for 8 seasons. Most of the others seem to have risen in price but are still worthwhile.

        • @cryptowiz: thanks …
Do you use an app or site to monitor iTunes bargains?

@sian72: There may well be a better way to do it but I just do it old school. Every Saturday (because that's when they seem to change) I check the iTunes app of my iPhone and look under the Movies and also TV Shows tabs. They group list things there like "$5 Musicals", "$5 Romance", "$5 Comedies" or, this week, "4K HDR Movies Under $8". As I said, things change each week but sometimes they will appear for more than a week (if they do they seem to add some extra titles to the mix in the second week).

Every time iTunes cards are 15% off I buy a swag of them as I know I'll use them. There are usually a few discounted titles each week that I'll buy (sometimes much more… when the $5 musicals came up I bought 13 titles).

    Grease is also $7.99

    • Thanks, I missed that one.
