    • They haven't been too bad about price jacking in the past. Just got to get lucky with the timing of other promos.

      • +9

        Because Myers is always jacked

    • Hahahaha - said no one ever

  • +5

    Does Myer sell any MacBook?

    • +1

Myer sell Macbooks, they don't stock them on their Ebay store usually.

    • +3

Up voted: never wrong to ask!
Buy some 10% off JB cards and use them during the monthly 10% off mac deal, which is effectively a 19% off.

      • Where can I find those 10% jbhifi cards?

        • +2

Forums - Classified, there are always some ozbargainers willing to sell their JB cards at 10% discount.

        • @mrhorse: Thanks, I will check those out

      • +1

For a second there I thought you were saying to buy the gift card as part of this Myer eBay sale at 20% off, then realised that is too good to be true

    • +2

Yep, we got 2 Macbook pros during the last 20% off deal last year.

      • Through eBay?

        • They have them on eBay every so often. We have purchased one through eBay Myer in the past

        • Yep, doesn't look like there's any Apple products at the moment. But they may add them before the sale starts.

However sale that was on when I bought them was 10% ebay sale (ebay took the hit) and 8% Myer - so actually 18% off. But because this looks like a Myer only sale I don't think they'll put Apple stuff up, the profit margin on Apple products is simply too low, they'll end up losing money.

        • @chu-oh: Thanks, I guess will wait for a similar situation coming up

  • -1

Everytime this happen, it always Very low stock.

    • Or show available stock and email you a week later saying that the item you bought is out of stock

  • Any bargains?

    • +23

      Cheapest Dyson V10 so far.

      • "Out of stock".
Looks like Myer have removed all dysons from their eBay store.

        • Wow, that's ridiculous.

        • @doweyy: Ok so thats the last time i buy from myer ever. They do these things all the time. Last time I bought a thousand dollar watch told me it was in stock took my money then cancelled the order and tried to pay me in gift vouchers.

        • Totally stupid. All real deals are not avil anymore

  • Does adding to the cart and checking out once the sale is active work?

    • Don’t see why not. Prices and stock may change but, you aren’t putting a hold on anything.

      • Ah - but it doesn't lock in the price at the time I added it to cart or anything?

        • +1

No. You get a notification that the stock is out / price has changed if it's just sitting in your cart.

  • -8

It's only Myer no deal here

    • +2

Alright gryffindor, this isn't a Salazar sale

  • +2

Have checked every single item under electric…

Nothing attracts me… no Apple products… most of them are household tools…

The only thing nice would be Logitech IPad Pro keyboard… enjoy folks…

    https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Logitech-Slim-Combo-iPad-Pro-1…

    • apple store selling them @$199(since they were released last year), so I don't think this is a good deal.

  • +7

    Grace Brothers

    • +2

You wouldn’t believe it but one time, I went to Myer parramatta with a grace bros plastic bag because I thought I would reuse instead of getting a Myer bag and when the counter dude saw what I had , he told me to surrender the Grace bros bag wtf :( but yeah good old grace bros

      • Did you politely tell him to GF?

        • i should have

        • +1

          @prankster:

There's still time. Live actively with no regrets.

  • No Macbooks this time :(

  • -1

lol myer is dead look at their stock price, they are losing money every year (not profitable)

    • +12

You are wrong. They are not losing money every year, they are profitable. They are not earning a reasonable return on equity hence why share price is down. But they are still profitable. Write off of intangibles is an accounting treatment, and hasn’t happened every year in any case.

      • -1

So ur saying it’s a good buy at this price?

        • +2

Yes, but DYOR - it's risky.

As cloudy said, Myer (ASX.MYR) is profitable.

Look deeper at their financial results and their business model, the last results are not that bad at all, loss was mostly non-material on previously overstated goodwill, and they have significant online sales ($100M+ for HY and raising - if they're just dotcom company, they would be worth twice their current mcap). The share price is at significant discount (it could be worth well over $1 in takeover bid), but the risk is high due to possible covenants breach.

Share price is pushed down by heavy manipulation, helped by corrupted media (not many quality financial journos nowdays, mostly clueless, or sold out to shill whatever). This is very likely instructed by Solly Lew and his associates who want cheap & dodgy takeover, but there is no solid proof for illegal activities (yet), ASIC/ASX are keeping their eyes closed as usual. MYR price was pushed down by shorters for a long time (they made good money when share price was diving), but shorters are now mostly out. There will be a few more months of consolidation when anything can happen (including takeover offer, or forced administration), until around full year results (due to be published in September) which should show that business is still profitable, excluding once-off writedowns.

        • +6

          @Jef Tino:

Nope. The share price is not down due to manipulation and "corrupted media". It's down because investors perceive department stores to be in structural decline. Profits at Myer have been decreasing for the past 5 years and they're at a point where they're barely profitable now. And they're still losing ground to more agile competitors, e.g. H&M, Uniqlo in apparel, Mecca and Sephora in beauty, just about everyone else in electrical.

Professional fund managers don't rely just on financial media to make their decisions. They have their own team of analysts who do their own research. There's a reason why there hasn't been much institutional interest in MYR despite a 50%+ fall in share price. And it isn't because they're blindly following what news articles say they should be doing.

        • +1

          @tommohawk:
Structural decline for department stores was already priced in MYR decline from the IPO price to when it start hovering around $1. Structural decline is not terminal - departments stores are still working around the world, and are making money.

"Barely profitable" at HY18 NPAT of ~$40M (before one-offs)? Really?

Most of recent pressure on MYR is manipulation to bring the price down for hostile takeover, pure and simple.

Fund managers are not buying, as they don't want to get burned in momentum that was created by manipulation. But they are also staying away from shorting. They made smart choice - it's not their battle, and market logic doesn't work here.

        • i just said its return on equity is crap, so why would i give it equity?

you said its not profitable. This is false, that is what i said.

        • +3

          @Jef Tino:

I think the structural challenges facing department stores are like a slow bleed, as people gradually move towards online or more specialised stores. Many department stores around the world are still profitable, but the sales and profit trends are unmistakable - and no one has found a way to win back market share lost to the likes of Amazon, Zara, Uniqlo, etc. If this doesn't change, the end result is that at some stage, even profitable department stores will become loss making and eventually close down.

Maybe Myer will manage find a way to beat cheaper online rivals and the big international fashion chains, but I just can't see how this is done. Many of the items sold at Myer can be found cheaper online, because the pure online plays (e.g. Kogan, AppliancesOnline) don't have an expensive physical store network to maintain. And Myer cannot just shut down their stores easily - lease commitments were $2.7billion in the latest report.

For its HY18 result, the thing to remember is that the 'one-off's - store closing costs, redundancy costs - are real cash expenses and probably not a one-off while sales are falling. The other thing to note is that in retail, the Jul-Dec half is where a retailer traditionally makes most of its profits, with the Jan-Jun half often only more or less break even. So Myer's full year profits this year, before writedowns but post restructuring expenses will be negligible.

Fund managers aren't all momentum traders. There are many deep value investors who seek to buy a company for less than its intrinsic value. For these investors, they will happily buy when there's blood on the streets, and negative momentum is rampant, but only provided the value is there. For Myer, I just think it's simply difficult to make the case that it's worth a lot more than the $300M it's selling for now.

Anyway, this is getting way off topic now. Gonna leave it here. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Who can really say what the future holds, right? Best of luck with your investments.

        • @tommohawk:

Myer where always a middle class department store. I think the demise of Myer is a reflection of the wider demise of the Myer customer base, the middle class, in Australia.

        • @tommohawk:
Yes we've got way off topic - thing to remember is Myer has 20% off on eBay store. :)

But you have some good points and explanations, whether I agree or not. :)

  • Got a killer deal on a cordless dyson last year during one of these sales

    Myer closing down sale?

  • In the market for a pair of QC 35'S
I know they can be bought cheaper using the eBay 'plugnplay' offer however I have a $200 EFTPOS & $100 Westfield gift voucher which I don't have anything else to use on.

Has any one ever tried getting the store to match the eBay online offer?

Aware it's eBay who funds the discount and not Myer themselves but has anyone tried ?

    • You can go and match Palings Audio for $385 and use your gift cards, seems like the cheapest currently for direct pricing.

      • Site has them listed for $385

        • Yep it's the cheapest you'll find that's matchable because other offers currently need discount codes.

  • So Bose QC35s II will be about $399 not bad

  • n00b question here - are we able to use myers gift cards in some way on the ebay store?

    • +1

      No

  • No more Apple stuff in the myer ebay?

    • assume so.

  • Can you pay by gift card? I have $50 gift card

    • No~

      • Thanks :(

    • Do you mean a Myer gift card ? No - eBay does not accept Myer store gift cards.

If you had an eBay gift card (if they exist, Ive not looked) or a general Visa/Eftpos giftcard that works like a prepaid debit card, then yeah you could use that as a payment method.
May be an issue with splitting the payment across 2 or more payment types however.

  • Can you use myer gift cards on their ebay store?

    • Was about to ask the same thing!

      • Yeah apparently can’t be used.

  • Was so hoping they sold the Nintendo switch, bugger

  • Damn…. no kindle paperwhite on their Ebay store …

  • -5

    No computer alliance, no deal.

  • +2

    $800 v10 absolute peoples!

    • yea hoping they don't pull it off listing last minute (or run out of stock)

    • Looks like they've pulled the v10… added to basket for easier checkout but it's currently showing as out of stock…

      • Affirmative, appears to be all Dysons.

        • What a scam

  • +1

    No airpods 😞

  • Dang price is so dang expensive, jacked up much or typical Myer style?

    • -1

With 20%, it is still expensive; let alone without. How can you (Myer) compete?

Lego Creator Tower Bridge priced at $399…….

  • edited

  • For TRS purposes, would the invoice show before or after the discount?

    • +1

Before discount as it's eBay providing you the discount, not Myer. Myer normally will provide a proper invoice in email.

  • Apple have been remove and so have tv unless added at sale time

  • What time do these sales start

  • +1

Is it just me or has Myer removed EVERY SINGLE DYSON ITEM from their eBay store now that this sale has started?!!! GRRR!!!

    • Nope not just you..just hustling us all.

    • Yep. We got duped.

      • Yeah i was going to go on to buy one.

    • Should send them a message on ebay message saying you wont be buying further goods from them.
Perhaps they will get the message they cant dodge it up

  • I added the v10 to my cart last night, now it’s gone off the Myer page it says they do not ship to my location, have a photo of it available as well. Gg Myer if they wanted to exclude Dyson the t&c should of listed inclusions.

    • Same here!

      How dodgy can they be

  • Trying to make a purchase and says “the code isnt ready yet”..hmmm
