Pretty much a user maintainable version of the X1 Carbon - can replace SSD, add RAM, and add mobile broadband.

Well reviewed, other than the relatively dull screen in the FHD (unfortunately the WQHD model isn't available here):

dont seem cheap or am i missing something.

This post is for the T series laptops, not the cheap E series you always see posted here. Differences include much better build quality with lighter weight (e480 weighs ~400g more with similar specs), battery life among other things.

    • Since when is this website just for posting cheap items?

      • Ah Durr! Ozbargain, I think it's in the name. Really hoping your comment was sarcastic (sometimes it's hard to read sarcasm) otherwise this comment is really offensive.

        • I could say the same about your reply, show me the rule where it states only cheap items are allowed as deals?

Please don't fall for their "deals". It has been on for many months now and unless that price is the lowest it has been when not on "sale" then its not worth it.

  • This is a semi-regular price, got mine for about that earlier this year. Great laptop though, very happy with it.

    • How do you find the FHD screen? A lot of mixed reports, though I think a lot are comparing to the ultra-bright HDR screen available for the X1 Carbon.

      • It's good, not great. Mine is used solely for work, and it spends 95% of it's time connected to a dock and two other screens. On the occassions I've travelled for work, and had to work away from home, it's been fine though.

The bigger problem I have is significant video lag on the screens via the dock, but that turned out to be a universal DisplayLink issue (a change to Windows 10 in the Creators update made CPU usage go nuts for DisplayLink devices for video and games, and they're having to re-engineer the drivers to get around it. Apparently a fix is in the works by several months away).

  • I would get the Dell Latitude 14 7490 over this.
