      Maybe in case you don't want anyone to know they're under video surveillance until the last minute as they hunt around looking for a button to press?

      Anyway, obligatory notes:

      1) This is the older model, now replaced with the Ring 2 — higher definition, longer battery life, generational improvements.

      2) Amazon now own Ring, so if it follows the trajectory of the Echo, you can expect rapid price cuts and maybe two Ring doorbells in a box of breakfast cereal by this time next year.

    Are you obligated to subscribe to their service or can you monitor etc without the subscription?

      I think not. You only get notifications if you aren't subscribed to their services.

    Subscription gives you cloud stored recordings.
    Without subscription you will not be able to see the missed ring or missed proximity intrusion alerts.

      I'd bite but this is a deal killer. Even Netgear gives you free although limited storage for Aro cameras.

    judt price matched harvey normans price from last week.

    I brought one at Bunnings for $134.10 last week when i got them to price match this price from harvey norman
