  • I had no idea an official ball cost that much.

Sports markup. Like season tickets, and food-drink at the venue.
      Thankfully I don't care much for sports so I save a bucket-load.

Yes they’re very expensive, although Rebel often have them for a fair bit less than RRP. The most expensive ones tend to be the premiership Sherrie KB versions. Nonethless they’re a great footy which will last many years

At this price why would you even kick the ball.

15 shipping for something so light and that cannot have any breaking damage on the way is a rip off

    • I bought a North Melbourne official Size game ball, and it was sent/packaged almost completely blown up in a box like this….

      Gameball

So $15 I think is reasonable considering Size and weight.

If you are not around to collect the shipment, their courier sends it to your city’s depot. You have the option to drive there during business hours or pay an exorbitant redelivery charge. They won’t leave it at your post office nor redeliver. I’ll never order from JKS ever again.

      • I have to ask, do they have their own courier service or use a third party?

      • Did you not see that Toll will also re-deliver to a "collection point" near you? I used this two weeks ago, there are several near my home, at local newsagencies. The re-delivery was free, and I collected it at 6pm on late-night shopping night. But I could have also collected on the weekend.

There's a link to all the collection points on this webpage, with a search function: https://www.tollgroup.com/express-services/delivering-consum…

The option to use a collection point is on the back of the "missed delivery" notice.

I called Toll and they advised the “type” of delivery was ineligible to be delivered to a collection point or reselivered at no additional charge.

Probably because JKS use the cheapest option.

With this service, Toll said the only option was to pick it up from their depot (near the airport) or pay $25 for redelivery.

        • @tommyc:
Okay, that stinks. My parcel was small, electronic components, so maybe it's a size thing? I'll be wary about selecting Toll in future.

  • Is that standard size?

    • +1

Yes, Size 5 is what the AFL players use in the game. The AFLW use Size 4. Kids use Size 1-3.

  • Woah, that is bloody expensive for a football. My primary school was close to the western bulldogs football club, and we used to get a bunch of these for free just about every year. I wonder if they were worth this much back then, because if it was, I'm surprised kids didn't just take it all every year.

    • Possibly a different variety.

      • Possibly, but I do remember it being very similar to this. Very plain, just the sherrin branding with the kangaroo and no other logos

  • Top of the range cricket balls cost more than this, so not surprising

    • +1

      Sandpaper optional.

  • I'd love one of these, but no bloody way would I be allowed to spend over $100 on a footy! (granted this is a very nice footy)

  • Play Aussie rules - The balls they use in the AFL are different to anything you can buy off the regular shelf or will use in anything lower than the 2nd tier comp. Those balls cost more than this and it's absurd

    • I've got a son playing senior AFL - and he swears by these. He says that the way they behave in flight is so much more predictable than with cheaper versions.
