NAB Qantas Rewards Visa - 115k QFF Points - $395 Fee

790

Pointhacks has teamed up with NAB to offer an exclusive deal on the NAB qantas rewards card. 115k qantas points on offer for the $395 annual card fee and $4,000 spend in first 60 days. This is up from the standard 100k points offered direct through NAB. Pretty good deal if you have used the ANZ FF Black card and the amplify St George. A decent earn rate of 1 point per $1 which is higher than most other Visa cards.

Also includes insurances seen with most premium rewards cards.

Offer unavailable if closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account

I had the NAB Reward Visa (non Qantas) previously and cancelled a few months ago. Can I apply this Qantas version and get sign on bonus?

    • Same boat, anyone could confirm?

Hey @OP - there is a rather important part of the offer you may want to call out. Could save people some angst-laden call centre time in a couple of months when they wonder where their extra points are.

"…To be eligible for the Bonus points offer you must apply for a new personal NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card via Pointhacks…"

The "Find out more or apply" buttons on the https://www.pointhacks.com.au/credit-cards/nab-qantas-credit… page generates a content ID (CID) string that tells NAB it's a legit Point Hacks referral.

    Nice offer, BTW!

    • The link for the deal is the point hacks specific one and Ive linked to point hacks article in the description :)

      • If you follow the OzBargain 'Go To Deal', it will not generate the CID string for the URL.

      • If they use pixel tracking to attribute the sale, then applying via the landing page mightn't be register the sale under the offer. It probably will, but to be safe, might as well follow the link from point hacks

    man that estab fee though.

Rather take 75k points for free.

    • +2

Do that if you haven't already.

Then with this one you could cash in 39,500 points for $395 and keep the remaining 75,500 for no money out of pocket.

  • OP: is the St George amplify offer free fee first year?

    • Only $139 when you apply through finder compared to $279 normally.

      • Worth mentioning, it expires in 2 days.

        • +1

I signed up for the st George amplify platinum with the 'email trick' posted on ozbargain, so should get 60k Qantas points for no fee…

        • @movieman:

          How do you do that?

        • +1

          @serpserpserp:

Essentially start the application process, and when part way through, close the browser. A popup will say are you sure, and click 'yes'.

"Do not 'save application for later', as that will not work".

Then approx 10-20mins later I received an email saying if I sign up, they'll waive the first years fee.

Let me know if you get stuck.

        • @movieman:

Did it and still waiting for email. Hope it comes soon only got 3 hours left to sign up!

        • @serpserpserp:
I tried this for the Amplify Signature and it didn't work. Also it has expired but brought back with $4000 spend instead of $5000 now from 19th April to 26th September. Just got my SG card so Can't go for this one.

  • signed up, cheers

Good amount of points, but the annual fee is pretty steep, especially given the $4k min spend. I’ve churned through most of the QFF sign on points the last 4 months, but I’ve started signed them up under my wife’s name before I have to choose this nab one. Much better value deals through Qantas, St G / BOM, AMEX, WBC and ANZ.

  • ive been told that nab is virtually the only bank that doesnt enforce the exclusion period,

i know people that do this 3-4 times per year,

Im not too sure what "Offer unavailable if closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account"
means, so if you close the card your arent elgiible for the new one?

ive got one at the moment that I forgot to cancel from my last deal, thinking about reappliyng

    • NAB didn't used to have a 12 month exclusion period so churning multiple times a year was within the terms. Now that the exclusion period is there, I don't think it will be so successful.

    just cancelled my nab card,

    annual fees are high

and points are capped at $20K spend.

You must be earning a lot in annual income to qualify for the NAB credit card let alone the ANZ black…

    • +1

$75K is not a big income anymore. Grads now start at $50K.

      • Some cards state gross household income, which would not be too difficult for a dual income family. BTW great deal, but I agree that it is surprising to see banks and points hack getting together.

        • I have not seen any cards that have approved me based on household income. None have asked household income information either because it is irrelevant.

        • @serpserpserp: That's why I was surprised. Can't verify it now unless I do an application process, but I am pretty sure that the ANZ frequent flyer Black that I applied for asked for it.

        • @Peck:

It didn't recently cause I applied.

          @serpserpserp:

          AMEX ask for household income.

      • Grads started on 50k in 2008! A shame that our wage growth in this country has been non-existent for the last 10 years.

        • +1

That's why we sell points. Keeps my kids' heads above the bread line.

  • I can't remember if government charges count towards eligible spend for this card. Can someone verify?

  • Just closed down the nab velocity card. Am I eligible for this nab qantas card?

  • I'm with NAB for my home loan - their choices package, so I get the fee waived!

  • Why would anyone pay $395 and go through all this hassle just for 100k of points … the points are barely worth the fee let alone the hassle.

Have you seen the classified section here?

Buying points is a great way to get banned for life from a bank.

It does happens, if you keep doing it.

  • Do you know how long to know if your application is approved and the card is on its way ? :)

  • I want need this

  • I am an existing NAB customer. After signing in, i am getting this message

"The system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. Alternatively, please feel free to contact NAB directly at 13 22 65."

    Anyone has the same issue?

    • getting the same error msg. on the phone with nab now.

      • Was it resolved?

        • +1

Call centre couldnt apply 115k points if i continued the application with them. So i tried online again after 15 mins and it processed all the way

    • Was it easily resolved?

  • i am also an existing NAB customer and want to know how to get the annual fee waived for being a customer even going through point hacks

  • Actually anyone who wants a easy 30k of bonus points you are better off going for this card. $95 annual fee, spend $1,500 within 60 days.

    https://www.nab.com.au/personal/banking/credit-cards/nab-qan…

  • Do you get pro-rata refund on annual fee if cancel?
If so how much did it cost to keep card long enough to get points then cancel it?

  • OOOH crap..

i applied with the apply now button, not from pointhacks. am i stuffed for points?

oh wait, at the minimum i should get 100k (worst case scenario)

  • Anyone applied for this recently? I keep getting this message "The system is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

The phone support was useless and it's been like that for several day snow.

  • I've managed to start the application, however I'm wondering - is it normal for credit card applications to ask for each income type on both gross & net basis? Does that mean I need to add back the franking credits I get on my NAB shares to get a net dividend income?

Seems more complicated than I'd expect for a credit card application?

    • is it normal for credit card applications to ask for each income type on both gross & net basis?

      Not normal for other banks.

Does that mean I need to add back the franking credits I get on my NAB shares to get a net dividend income?

I would just look at your income tax assessment, which has the income and tax assessed. Don't worry about trying to do other arithmetic with franking credits. You'll probably need to submit the income tax assessment as proof of your income, if you're getting anything significant that's non-salary income.

  • Applied this morning using the pointhacks link and recieved immediate preliminary approval pending two recent pay slips. The process was easy peasy and not no where as onerous as others I've done (read Citibank). Took 5 minutes tops. Easiest $1000 or so bucks you can earn not lying down.

    • $1000? Can be worth more than that if you use for flights! Did return trip to Europe AND Asia for just over 150K points!

  • Hi,

I have a NAB home loan and had a credit card too which gave me reward points. I have now cancelled that card. Can I apply for the above? Thanks
