DDR4 4GB RAM, eMMC 32GB

It boasts DDR4 4GB RAM, and eMMC 32GB, advantageous in performance, security and reliability, ascribing to the eMMC memory, ultimately delivering a richer end-user experience.

HDMI 2.0 Connector

You can go directly to let your TV and MX10 TV Box are connected through an HDMI cable and set up your home cinema for the best 4K x 2K UHD multimedia experience.

True 4K Media Player

While your average media box might only accept 1080P video playback, this gadget plays just about any 4K sources you could throw at it. Furthermore, it moves out into reality the fantasy of VP9 hardware decoding alongside the H.265.

Access to KODI 18.0 and More

Like any Android based media players, aside from the preinstalled KODI 18.0, it brings full access to Google Play Store apps like Neflix, Vudu, Skype, Picasa, Flicker, Youtube, Facebook, etc.

This device has its own space depending how do you want to use it.

    • Do you like gaming? Bluetooth controllers in the house? Kids? IME the best thing to me would be if my son or nephews wanted to play something, watch youtube or use some other streaming service through an app.

I have to say, I have one of these - from GeekBuying - and I'm not a fan of it. I replaced an MX-III G, with the MX10.

It comes with SuperSU, which doesn't work properly (search on XDA for more info), and doesn't appear to be rooted (good or bad depending on what you want - I use a different remote and wanted to remap some keys, but need root for that).

Doesn't write to an external drive formatted with NTFS, which is a PITA: my old MXIII-G did this fine, out of the box, so I ended up buying a NAS box.

Doesn't have a stand by/power button, which I prefer to have (yes, can use remote, but it's just my preference).

It plays Kodi really well, and my NBA app works ok, but for some reason isn't so smooth playing back downloaded games.

Anyway, hope that might help someone.

    • Games won't be smooth on this since it has a pretty weak GPU.

      • I would have thought they would play smoothly - I'm talking about real NBA games (the app streams video and can download for offline viewing), btw.

        • Oh, I was referring to 2d/3d games. If videos aren't smooth then it could be something else running in the background other than the NBA app.

        • Huh? You still can watch NBA with android? My Apps crashed about a month ago and still not fixed. (in all my devices)

        • @f38r1: yup, I can: works fine for me. Was playing a bit funny, but I changed a few things, uninstalled a few things and now it's playing well.

      • The Mali-450 would make this more appropriate for emulation. Video decoding is more handled by the CPU.

    • Actually, finally managed to get to use the thing (my son hogs it for YouTube) and Kodi wasn't playing very well, at all. So now I'll have to research into what's up and sideload later version of Kodi (currently using latest from Play Store). Not having a good experience with the MX10. :(

I also forgot to mention I posted a negative review, on GeekBuying, but they obviously removed it (or need to vet them, first, and just deleted it without posting it), so I'd be a bit cautious when going through the reviews. I'm not outright accusing them - hey, things can happen on the Internet, but just pointing out my experience…

      • Actually, changed a few things and now playing smoothly - phew.

  • why this instead of a mi-box? (i'm not a fan of kodi, i just run windows on an old umpc).

    • +2

Mi box is uber old with limited inputs.

      • +3

It still does the job better for 4K Netflix etc

        • +2

I'm with you - Mi Box is much better as you get Android TV, 4K Netflix and more.

      • that's fine i'm pretty limited (phone and nas)

  • +2

I'd stay well Clear of anything using rockchip

    • Isnt that rockchip better than Amlogic ?

      • +2

Amlogic is generally considered better for video playback and tend to have better 3rd party support (e.g. LibreELEC is available for S905/S912 devices, but not really available for Rockchip). That said, Rockchip devices tend to be more powerful in terms of CPU/GPU for similarly priced chipsets.

        • Ok, interesting, was going to ask this same question.

I had all the Amlogic boxes over the years with the early Openelec builds and they worked excellent considering the ridiculously small cost ($35 years ago!) - M3, MX, 800-something, S905.

Been a while since I've investigated and was wondering if it was still a thing, or the Android Kodi builds are 'good enough'…

        • @xdirex: My usual recommendation is that Kodi is fine for basic media playback on these cheap media players. If you're wanting automatic framerate switching, you'll either need to get a high-end box (like the Shield TV, WeTek Hub or MINIX box). LibreELEC tends to offer a better experience overall (as AFR usually works for starters) but you lose access to everything Android brings.

  • No 4K Netflix tho

    • 4K? Does it even do 720p, or just 480 for Netflix? (Kodi will do 4K)

      • Its tablet Android so i think its limited to 480p

  • Has anyone had any experience using this for playing 4k 10 bit H.265 files? I know it says it supports it just wondering if anyone has tried it.

  • Code to bring this down to $49.99: XGPINIVQ
