How many loaves of bread will you slice in your lifetime?

Not many. I buy sliced bread :)

    • +2

Yeah mate, they are good for sourdough, most of us just don't have enough time to make our own bread

I miss European bread, and having bakeries on every street corner :( https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/200863/57799/646d31e5-…

What is 'European bread'? Sorry I'm not trying to be mean but it always makes me laugh how some Australians think of Europe as if it was one country… Trust me, breads along with culture do vary from country to country in Europe. Say bread to a Spaniard and they'll most likely think of a Frenchy style crusty baguette. Say bread in Poland and you'll get a massive variety of rye sour dough + all sorts of bread rolls. Say bread in the UK and you end up with a white slice bread etc etc etc

        • +1

@7es7ash: I think people say Europe and they think the continent. UK is considered separately (and won’t be Europe for much longer)… and anyone who is thinking fondly of bread is not thinking UK sliced white crap in a bag.

        • +1

@7es7ash: It’s precisely that variety! Everything from a crusty sourdough Solothurner, to a hearty Roggenbrot, to a Kaisersemmel with Leberkäs. And Bauernbrot, or a Laugenbrezel, a Salzstange, Kürbiskernbrot, Pumpernickel, Rosinenbrötchen…

          Anything but Coles 90%-air US/UK-style white bread…

        • @braddsey: 'The continent' that contains so many different countries, cultures and cuisines. I get slightly offended when people say eg: 'Hey! I went to Europe and I didn't like it and the food was crap'. - oh, where did you go? - 'Went to London, Dublin and Paris.'….

BTW, I guess the UK was always considered to be slightly less European and I think this is how many Britons always wanted it to be considered. So they got what they wished for😉

English bread?… Praise the lord for all the Polish migrants and the cuisine/food stores they brought to the country lol 😂

  • Lol here are some of the RRP's, not sure they understand what RRP is supposed to mean:

    $74.95 https://www.megaboutique.com.au/kitchenware/knife/victorinox…
    $94.00 https://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Victorinox-Rose…
    $59.95 https://www.house.com.au/victorinox-wavy-edge-bread-knife-21…
    $93.95 http://www.everten.com.au/victorinox-rosewood-bread-knife-21…
    $61.95 http://www.chefuniforms.com.au/victorinox-serrated-bread-kni…

Also, your price is basically standard across most suppliers. This is not OzFreeAdvertising.

I’m not sure I understand the neg - their price is cheaper than all the links you’ve posted. I see the RRPs vary across the stores but what am I missing?

      • Edit: my bad. fibro handles. This is a decent price!

      • I don't understand it either. tromboc claims that the OP's RRP is not the cheapest, but the final is.

        • Didn't make any claims about the OP RRP just pointing out that the whole idea of a standard RRP set by the manufacturer or distributor is clearly being taken the piss by all those retailers.

      • Ditto. half of those linked are the cheaper plastic handle knife too.

Only issue with mega boutique listing is that they’ve understated the RRP.

Peter of Kensington has the similar bread knife for $64 + shipping and Everton $55.95 + shipping.

The ones listed on House and Chefuniforms are different bread knife.

Our deal is $34.95 Free Delivery. :)

      • Do you have any other Victorinox knives that are on sale?

        • +2

We also have these on sale if you are interested. :)

        • @MegaBot: These are the about the lowest prices I've seen for Victorinox. Perhaps they can be combined in the main body of the deal?

Been looking at chef knives and found Victorinox to have pretty good reviews, and one of the favourites among stamped (affordable) stainless steel knives.

          Here's one review: https://youtu.be/e50gujs4l-I

Op, any deals for the Santoku version?

        • @Interrupting Cow: Thanks for the suggestion. They are added to the main body.

Unfortunately we don't have any deal on the Santoku version at the moment but will keep an eye out to see if we could get a nice deal from the supplier next time. :)

  • How many loaves of bread will you slice in your lifetime?

None if you buy sliced bread.

    • depends , do you cut your sandwich into 1/2 as a rectangle or or triangle …. you can use the bread knife even if you buy sliced bread to cut the sandwich inhalf.

      • Do you cut your sandwich into triangles or rectangles?

  • Full tang? Steel type? These are questions i need answered.
"elegant design" wont cut my bloody bread
