$22 shipping to Melbourne sinks this deal…

Try shipping perishables from rural NSW to VIC for less than $22, good luck.

    • I can do it for $15.

I like to get my meat from Tasman meats in VIC.

They're also cheaper, have B&M stores and give less attitude.
Plus they do the calculations for you.

    • Wish they'd set up shop in NSW

    $55.99 AUD / kg

    Wow !!!

  • +6

Wow no wonder you didn’t put prices! No bargain here! Is there a section this can be moved to called “free advertising for non bargain products”

  • +3

$55.99 AUD / kg is NOT a bargain!!! If I have to down vote one post, this would have to be it.

    • +3

It's not $55.99, that's the point. This full price is up there but about what you pay for similar tenderloin, this is grass fed Black Angus. The price of $36.39 per kilo is less than you would pay for grain fed beef in the supermarket. It is most definitely a bargain, the downside is the delivery charge.

Angus is just a breed of cattle that's been well marketed. It doesn't taste identifiably different to say Hereford beef. Both can be tasty, both produce good marbling when raised correctly. A poorly raised Angus will definitely produce inferior beef to a well raised Hereford.

Angus cattle mature quickly and are one of the most common breeds of cattle in the country these days, thanks to the successful marketing/popularity of the breed. There's no reason that someone should pay extra for a piece of meet just because it's branded "Angus".

In relation to feed, my understanding is that the vast majority of Australian cattle is grass fed with a portion finished on grain for a few weeks prior to slaughter. Beef that has been grain fed for a significant portion of the cattle's life is a niche product in Australia (unlike, say the US).

So "grass fed black angus beef" - just means beef from one of the most common breeds of cattle in the country, that has been raised on pasture - just like the vast majority of cattle in the country.

I've placed two orders with Cameron when he's had his specials on. I can't afford his regular kilo price but I grab his hampers or sirloin when it's on special. Four work colleagues also ordered the sirloin and they all said it was spectacular. Quality product costs extra. It's up to you whether you would prefer to buy the cheap cuts from the supermarket or pay a bit extra for top shelf meat. At the end of the day I don't think it's fair to run down a bloke's product without trying and comparing it to cheaper offerings. A "bargain" doesn't always need to be a lowest common denominator product. For me a bargain is all about the savings off the regualr price. Your mileage may vary of course.

  • Those complaining about the price, go and buy a bulk pack of rump steak from Woolworths lol
