I am not sure if they have fixed these router's firmware at this stage. I have returned mine 2 months ago due to regular dropout issues

    • I have one and haven't had any issues since they sent me an updated firmware.

I don't know if they've pushed the fix into their builds available online but I would expect so given it has been months.

I think that dropout was because of the Google Home/Chromecast issue: https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2018/01/your-chromecast-or-google…

TP-link have however released the beta firmware and it is solid now.

      • Oh shit! I had one Chromecast (gen 1) at home, may be that was it ?
Too bad the guys at Futu Online refunded the money, I bought Xiaomi router and its been rock solid

  • FYI doesn't work with FTTN

    • Needs a separate FTTN modem. Still works as a router/AP

        Yeh that wasn't my point……

A separate "basic" FTTN modem will set you back by 60-80bucks on top of this. So why not just get modem/router that supports FTTN and ADSL2+

Like the VR600 the Op linked aswell.

  • Err HFC:
Telstra Cable - no, need to bridge Gateway or CG3100
Optus Cable - no, need to bridge CG3000
    NBN - ?

    • if bridge CG3000, will the connection be better.?
i am with optus cable now, it is not a good experience though, :(

      • The CG3000 and CG3100 are good ways to connect to HFC, however they have rubbish wifi and NAT (Network Address Translation). I have a CG3100 (Telstra) bridged to an Archer C7, managing about 25 devices seamlessly. Can't help you with the crapness of Optus cable sorry…

        • desperated with optus cable, and just started a 2years contract!

  • That is cheap . Got one from Gumthree for $50 . Do I need another one ?

    • Wtf for? Unless you wanna extend your wifi, there's no point.

  • For NBN TP-Link Archer D7 will not work because it doesn't have VDSL support.

On the otherhand VR600 will work for FTTN/P/B/H and HFC .

It is also a too good to be true offer. I always found this modem in the $200+ range, even on sale .

So for $88 it could be a fake/mistake.

    • Wireless1 doesn't sell fake

    • TP-Link Archer D7 should work for all NBN tech apart from FTTN/B where a VDSL modem is required.

As mentioned before, with a VDSL modem in bridge mode it would work. However the VR600 will work with all NBN technologies.

  • Have this on a 100/40 FTTP connection. For casual browsing and streaming, this is modem/router is great. Get wireless speeds of around 94Mbps.

Paid almost double this cost 3 years ago. For ~$70, this is an amazing router that will handle 100Mbps speeds.

  • Thanks just bought the vr600 model for when we get nbn connected.

  • Damn just missed this

    • it'll still be 20% off at the checkout. Still a bargain
