      Opposite for me, 2 of my 3 WD drives failed (both… Element?, 3rd is fine but not element), but my Seagate are working great.

      The Seagate case feels cheap and fragile though.

      I guess they are both terrible at this price range?

      WD uses hardware based encryption and the sata to USB board is soldered, not removable like with Seagate.

      When it comes to portable drives, Seagate is a lot better than WD.

    Yep, every seagate portable drive I had has failed too. Never again, no matter how cheap.

      Might also be how people are using things ….. The number of phones i see with cracked screens seems to indicate some people cant look tech items.

      These arent nas or 24x7 always on drives, they are for notebooks
      The seagate can be shucked the wd cant so depends what the longterm goal is.
