Floating switches are great because you can pull the key caps off and properly clean it without dissassmbling the base.

  • Free shipping means this is a great price, even without the referral link. It's a decent keyboard, I've got one of the original ones that has backlighting without the garish colours.

  • Is this a good keyboard? I am looking for a mechanical keybaord atm.

I have the keyboard that this is based on. I love it. The blues are loud and clicky and I rate them equal to MX Cherry Browns in terms of feel. The RGB aspect is not actually RGB, but a cycle of 7 colours, with white being a strobe of red, green and blue (which is super distracting if you use the corner of your eye).

For $45, it is a great deal, so get it with confidence. Even if you don't like it, $45 is not a lot, and you could sell it for around the same price, so no money lost.

    • it seems these chinese companies have finally cracked the cherries. these otemus/gaotes/kailhs/gaterons are basically cherries minus the brand recognition.

As long as it isn't an invitation to a llemon party LOL

Winamp. It really kicks the Liamase's ass.

    • hahahha that's filthy.. haven't heard that word in a while.
Did you also see Blue Waffle Switches?

      • No, but I have now LOL

  • This seems ridiculously cheap compared to the other mechanical keyboards I've been looking at. Why?

    • I was thinking the same myself. Kogan branded equipment can be a bit hit-and-miss. I've bought Kogan stuff before and some has been excellent value for money while other items have been total garbage.

      • The thing is they have a no questions asked returns policy on Kogan branded stuff :)

    • Don't know what you're comparing it with, but you're probably comparing it with brand named keyboards. In which case, it's marketing, customer service, keyboard switches etc.

There's plenty of no name keyboards with similar switches to this in this price range

    • It's because they use Gaote switches. 108 Cherry switches alone (at consumer price) would cost more than this keyboard.

  • One thing any competent PC user would know is never to cheap out on peripherals.

Seriously? Not everyone has $100+ to spend on a keyboard. I'm willing to bet you'd rather use this than a mushy OEM keyboard.

      • My keyboard of choice is a membrane keyboard. Microsoft Media Pro. Not made anymore but use to go for $30-35 so I stocked up and bought 5. So durable I will probably have a couple left whenever the USB standard eventually goes the way of the dinosaur, or when I die, whichever comes first.

        • I have a large box full of OEM membrane keyboards. I will keep using them until they're all dead.

I have no idea why people love mechanical keyboards so much. They're too loud, I don't like the key feel at all, and they're way too expensive.

        • @klaw81: For people that can actually type a mechanical is much more useful then a rubber dome keyboard. Tactility means a key press can register without bottoming out; with membrane keyboards bottoming out is the norm. More power to you if you prefer the feel of mushy rubber over a mechanical switch.

  • I have a Kogan mechanical keyboard, I don't think it's this one. But I would say that it is so much better than standard keyboards and this could be worth trying if you are thinking about getting into the mechanical keyboard situation.

  • Thanks, ordered one more for general home use rather than gaming. Blue switches are quite loud and clicky.

  • will be good enough for 90% of the population give it ago

  • How loud are these types of keyboards? Loud enough to annoy everyone at work?

    • Blue switches are noisy, they have an audible click. I have blues at home and would never dream of getting them at work unless I wanted to annoy everyone in the office.

    • Yes it'll piss everyone off hahaha.

Do what I did. Bring in a Unicomp Classic first to piss them off, then bring blues in as a compromise and look like a nice guy.

      • [sadfase] I had a proper Unicomp buckling-spring 'board at work and absolutely loved it…until someone complained to HR and I was told to take it away.

Now I've got the Kogan with Cherry Brown switches. Still clicky, but not quite as loud.

RGB mechanical gaming keyboards certainly seem to be the currentfad.
    Thanks OP, but… must… resist…

$35 with this link (and a new account): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/api/referral/20
I already have a steel series, but at this price, I'm guying it just 'cause

    • For those reporting the above comment - note that it is a link to the OzBargain randomised referral system, not the commentor's personal referral link.

      • Lol why can't we down vote mods? I've never noticed that before.

        • I do not know why

  • Don't get the attraction of these loud bricks over a slim, touch button keyboard.. is it about making noise to attract attention?

    • And don't forget the sparkly lights.

Look a decent keyboard vs a crappy one will make a difference to typing speed but a decent keyboard doesn't need to be mechanical or make loud noise. A $10 keyboard is probably too cheap. This keyboard honestly isn't that expensive but you are paying for clickiness and cool lights where you could be paying for better quality feel and durability.

  • I just got mine today! It appears to be full RGB but you can not customise each key seeing as it has no software.

I ordered one each for my kids as they always seem to fight over who gets to play overwatch/tf2/minecraft/etc on my pc as they like the keys "and the pretty lights".

Yes they are clicky, very much so, but when we are all in the study together, its headphones on and not an issue.

I am surprised by how good it feels when typing, a bit lighter than my corsair k70 brown and if you have them both, yes you would use the corsair, as a first mechanical keyboard you can not really find anything else for $35 delivered.

  • This deal has expired…price is now $109. Thankfully I ordered one yesterday for $35.
