    Correct. It plays most files from a Hard Drive or USB.

        yep, i have all my dvds converted to an mkv container… The above blu-ray supports this format…

        using freeware "mkv2vob" makes mkv files playable on the PS3 but no it cannot play mkv files

      Yup you can use PS3 Media Server and stream mkv wirelessly to PS3 :P

      thats what i was told by many tech experts about the ps3. this was a year ago so mb then the bray was the same as those in $1000+ sony blu ray unit. obviously that price has come down since but i rekon its craps all over samsung blu ray!

  whaqt do u mean can BD-C8900A play ps3? play station 3 is a game consale that plays blu ray and had wireless media centre that can play any media file wirelessly from ur PC onto ur TV

      for $500 I would rather (and will after christmas) buy a PS3 that can do 3D blu ray and also a HD gaming console. Why you would spend $500 only on a blu ray is beyond me unless they are better quality or extra features which is not the case (that I know of). If it was say $300 I could understand if you don't do any gaming, but it seems for not much more (looking at getting the 160GB for about $400 so in fact $100 cheaper) you get both a gaming console and blu ray..

        PS3 is only HDMI v1.3. It drops the uncompressed audio in order to get the bandwidth required for a 3D signal. But unless you have a decent receiver and speaker setup this wont really be an issue.
