    • ever had an issue swapping plans, extra sims, extra data share sims …. one had billing they adjusted it the next month …….
      actually had more issues with telstra than optus.

        That's good news for you all can say is my experience trying to resolve my billing issues has been lousy. I think 7 phone calls and waiting 8 weeks is pretty patient for a customer paying 100pm

  • hi guys even though I was on sim only contract, I upgraded to this offer…and they waived off the exit cost…they do it if you ask for..

  • Currently on the Optus $40 sim only with 15GB data.. they wanted a $70 ish cancel fee. What luck have people had having this waived? I have 2 phones, mobile broadband and NBN all with Optus.

    • Was on the Optus sin only plan $36 /14GB with a student discount and I had tried chatting to upgrade to this offer almost 5-6 times but all team members said I will be charged a cancellation fee. Today I was on the Chat to upgrade with paying a cancellation fee but was told that no cancellation fee will be charged .. becuase I was eligible for waiver. Actually no idea what happened. keep trying to ask them it depends on who you talk to.

      • A cancellation fee was $60 and I signed up for $36 with 30GB data without a cancellation fee so happy

    Contemplating on getting rid of my ADSL and recontracting my current plan to the 100gb one. If I tether phone to PC and run Netflix of the PC and streaming to Chromecast would I get HD quality on my TV? Does Optus speeds cap if I tether?

    • Do you know how much data you download on your current ADSL? I don't think these will be restricted, but you may smash your 100GB if you stream HD all the time.

    • it’s interesting question ….. they claim you need to use the netflix app on the device, and tethered netflix is metered, but i’m not sure how they actually tell is the netflix stream is tethered or not …… should just see my handset sucking up netflix at up to 1.5 mbit .

      netflix HD , their fair use policy says upto 1.5 mbit , with the data you get, you can try a few things and see what happens …..you won’t blow 100gb and get bill shock over a few days.

      your phone will not be happy heat wise wise from running all the time and charging and wireless hotspot ….

  • I am currently on the Family & Friends 25% Off plan (thanks Ozbargain), getting the old $40/month plan for $30. My 25% discount is valid for 24 months. Has anyone tried upgrading and seen whether the 25% off persisted?

    Reason I ask is because my wife upgraded to the $59/month plan with a Galaxy S8, and somehow the 25% off was carried across (contract states $44.25/month for 24 months!). I went on chat, but they said the discount would disappear. Wondering if they are wrong….

    • I also signed up for the 25% off family friends discount from just over 12 months ago.

      Ended up paying off the remainder of my handset ($550) and signing up on the 100gb plan, which ended up being 110gb and cancelling my nbn.

      Used student 10% promo code and surrended the 25% off because they wouldn't honour it when I signed up to a new plan unfortunately.

    Student discount code doesn't seem to be unique.
    Mine is STU3DBX5XK, you can try sign up with this. Quote the code in the chat service.
    May or may not work. It's 10% off.

    • I got a different code than that. Do you need to provide proof of actually being a student to use it?

    • Code is unique per person, but a new code won't be issued each time (if you send out 3 emails requesting a student code, you'll get sent 3 emails with the same code in it)

      • They also ask you to confirm the email address upon mentioning the code so just posting the code is useless.

  • What's the deal with bundling with other services? Do you get a discount? I'm currently on optus prepaid and I'm almost about to do the deal on this ($40 for 30GB). I already have NBN with optus.. can I get a discount somewhere?

      You get a discount on the broadband, not the mobile. Definitely can get a discount.

      • You previously would’ve been eligible for a $10 bundling discount. You’ll find now none of these mobile plans are eligible for the bundling discount.

  • So I updated my plan since I was off contract. I stayed on the $40 a month and it seems like I now have 40Gb available to use. Bonus 10Gb I guess!

  • On a current contract, Optus wont upgrade the plan without a cancellation fee of $83.93.. also won't waive when asked.

    • i had the same issue, depends how many mongns left on contract 2 they wave, 3 they might might, i had 7 mths left so they reckon $83 fee, so i upgraded to $50 60gb plan as move to higher plan has no penalty regardless of time left, i have data share sims, now i son can watcn you tube in the car an his ipad, or netflix on my phone in the car…. until he gets car sick.

      in the USA some carrier already do unlimited plans , subject to reasonable use, we might be heading the same way as some of these plans include unmetered netflix 1.5mbit already …. take away netflix and 100 gb is a lot of data to use on a phone.

  • Does the free mobile tv streaming include optus fetch via the app? On the website it says it does but you would need to use your activation code from the set top box, right?

  • If you're having trouble receiving a cancellation fee waiver, then ask to be transferred to the retention team - I kept my student discount and free data sharing sims :)
