Someone quickly tell PC Byte that they over-sighted a price jack for this product.

  • +3

Holy, it's tempting to just buy one and sell the parts. That's an awesome deal.

  • whats the warranty? 12 months?

    • +1

pc byte is probably 12 months but the individual parts will range from 12 to 36 months.

    • Consumer law: 2-4 years
      PcByte: 2 Years/None?

Basically you're relying on manufacturer warranty then consumer law, not sure PC Byte will cover anything volunteeringly.

PC systems: PC systems are covered by a two-year warranty period. If your PC becomes faulty during this time, you may return it to us for repair. Please note that each component of your PC system falls under different warranty conditions, depending on the manufacturer. We will only replace components free of charge if they are eligible for warranty from the manufacturer.

      • +1

We will cover any individual parts that are still under warranty after the 2 Year Return to Base warranty for the computer system. Different parts will have a different warranty period.

        • Understood, though my point was according to your ToS you won't volunteeringly cover anything unless the manufacturer covers it.

With your low profit margins (ie this is legitimately less than the cost of parts) I can understand this and don't have an issue with it, but just so the consumer is aware!

  • -2

but its not separate parts is it? its prebuilt so the warranty is for the computer?

    • +1

the invoice will list all the individual parts with serial no.

same as you were to buy all individual parts without assembly

      • I did not have each individual part listed.

  • Hmm, do you think I can save more if i buy the parts separately? Mainly, I would like to get 64GB RAM, Ryzen 7 4.0ghz and just get a GTX1060. I'm trying to build a capable editing rig.

    • +3

      Prob not

    • +3

I bought parts separately over time with a mix of second-hand memory and getting my Ryzen 5 1600 from Amazon US. And getting my RX 580 8GB from gumtree (came with receipt). It's possible to get it much cheaper if you just set some alerts on Gumtree and watch Overclockers forum for some potential parts for sale too.

I bought the parts from Dec 2017 - Feb 2018 this year.

      I got:

Gigabyte Gaming 3 B350 mobo: $80 from Gumtree
16GB of Corsair 3000mhz memory: $190 OCAU Shop and Swap forum
      Gigabyte RX 580 8GB: $300 Gumtree
Ryzen 5 1600: $220 AUD shipped from Amazon USA

I already had a decent case and a few drives included 2 SSD just repurposed them.

All in all, I got a beast of a system for quite cheap - total upgrade cost was $790 plus time looking and waiting.

Also I had a $90 voucher for Amazon so it was $700 total - very pleased with the results.

      • +1

Gumtree alerts… lol, never seen them thanks!

        • I set mine nationally and got the mobo and memory from interstate too.

        • +1

          @bunnybash:

I was going to get the Ryzen 1600 from amazon but am gonna go intel i5 8400, think it’s $280 delivered or so and much better all round performance :)

        • +1

@BenTheBargainer2013: yes but the motherboard for 8th gen Intel is then going to be at least $100 more?

      • That's very awesome! the thing is, I am a total noob in terms of PC parts. I'm afraid parts will not be compatible and such.

    • +2

64GB of RAM? That's a lot of Chrome tabs

    • Why would you need 64GB ram?

      • +1

well, with a 4k screen and a good tiling window manager, that's a lot of incognito chrome tabs accessing youporn

        • +1

4k is handled by the graphics memory. Only 5 years ago the max you could get was 32GB and they were server machines running VMware.

        • +1

@freemoneyhunter: Yes, I know that. The GTX 1060 can handle 4k just for chrome tabs.
I mentioned the 4k resolution is about fitting more small chrome windows on the screen.

      • Adobe software are power hungry. I use photoshop, premiere pro and after effects simultaneously. Rendering is just a pain in the ass once you get to a certain point. I only have 16GB RAM atm and the time i spend waiting for it to render is double the time i spend editing it. Lol.

    • Personally wouldn't recommend bothering with a high end Ryzen 7 - the 1700 does its job well. It'd possibly bottleneck a 1080/1080ti, but you mention only wanting a 1060 so shouldn't be a problem anyway.

At this stage if you want 64GB of RAM best bet is selling your car. No but really, wait a few months for memory prices to drop again (hopefully). Currently that amount of memory would be literally $1,000+. Once prices hopefully settle should be closer to $600-700.

      • Yes, you are right. the threadripper is an overkill for thework I am doing right now, but what I had in mind is to future proof my machine for atleast the next 5 or so years. Thanks for the tip . DO you know around which time of the year it goes this low?

        • RAM has been quite high in price for around 12-18 months, I can't predict exactly when it'll come back down but it should at some point as supplies increase and demand decreases.

Note there was a massive demand increase from Ryzen release and newer Intel CPUs, this demand is slowly dying down (as the hype around Ryzen/etc slowly decreases) but it still may be some time. There's been various indicators of supply increasing, though there's also speculation of price fixing amongst suppliers so unsure if this will help.

Edit: I think the AMD data centre CPUs are slowly becoming available, RAM may actually increase in price further from this…

Threadripper is great, but isn't really required anymore. The current 8 core line ups are already double what the older series 8 cores could do - doubling this again (ie 16 core threadripper) is simply overkill.

  • As long as they actually deliver it on time, it's a great deal

    • They deliver fast. I got mine within a week.

      • there have been problems with them in the past not fulfilling orders

  • The graphics card alone is worth $750-800 these days, nice deal

  • Does anyone know what make is the 1080?

    • +2

They say that it depends on 'availability'. When I ordered a PC (different to this deal) they gave me an ASUS Strix GTX1080ti instead of the MSI Duke version.

  • +3

RAM is upgradeable from 8GB to 16GB for an extra $111.20 as well

Unless you need it that's not a good option to take up atm because of RAM prices. You don't need it for games.

    • +3

Modern games definitely take advantage of more than 8GB RAM. You might find that 8GB is not enough, as modern consoles have 8GB RAM (around 6GB usable for games on the consoles) and the PC ports of console games often require more resources than on the console themselves. Then you add Windows 10 + Background services + a couple background apps then a game on top and you can easily hit a RAM bottleneck if you only have 8GB. I would say 16GB is the minimum for a gaming rig these days, games like PUBG will on occasion get up to 12GB RAM used. Hell, even my phone has 8GB ram (OnePlus 5T)

  • +3

I'm pretty sure Ryzen needs really fast ram (3200) to run well.

    • +2

To get the most out of Ryzen, yes but that's only really for higher end gpu's. Hardware Unboxed already tested this with different ram speeds on different gpu's using Ryzen. Basically, higher ram speeds won't make much of a difference if you're using something like a gtx 1070 or lower and therefore isn't necessary at all (at least for gaming).

However, this pc has a gtx 1080 so while you won't get the best performance that you can with the lower ram speed, I wouldn't consider it a deal-breaker. That's just me though, I'd rather spend less on ram speed to improve other components (like an SSD, which this doesn't have).

  • Just FYI, the image seems to show a different case to the one that is part of the default spec (DeepCool Tesseract White SW)

  • ull desktop computer system with a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, and a GTX 1080 for $1400

    No but for 1407…

  • +3

I'm still happily rocking a Haswell system, but from what I've gathered RAM speed is kind of a big deal with these Ryzen CPU's . This rig only has 2133, so keep that in mind.

    • Yeah it's also an issue for Coffee Lake as well. But it's probably better to wait for RAM prices to drop and then update the CPU cooler and memory at the same time and get some of that sweet overclock.

I wonder if PCbyte is shipping a 250w PSU with this?

    • Yeah Ryzen Infinity Fabric performance is directly proportional to RAM speed.

You still may be able to overclock the RAM included with this though?

  • +2

Would you peeps like to see a better case or faster RAM for this system package?

    • +1

      both?

    • +1

Yes! A fast RAM upgrade would be awesome. I've already hit the buy button, but am regretting the RAM. 8GB @ high speed makes this an awesome gaming machine. PUBG especially wants MHz.

    • +7

Well I can organize a free upgrade to 2400Mhz RAM for this system package, however, anything higher than 2400 MHz comes in a pack of two and I will only be able to offer that as an upgrade, let me see what the price I can do for you guys is.

The listing will be updated tonight

    • 1080 ti

    • +1

Okay, so the listing has now been revised to show 2400Mhz RAM, I am still considering a case…..

How does this one look: http://www.thermaltake.com.au/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002…

      Free upgrade to 600W PSU

      • +2

Ive literally just made an order for this, before you have amended the product… how can I go about redeeming these upgrades as I would have loved to have them, pretty disappointed otherwise.

        • +2

I will finalize all the changes tonight, anyone who has ordered the computer package since the deal has started will receive all of the changes made tonight

        • @hamster0069:

Sweet as! Thanks allot for confirming that, I wanted to avoid the reorder process.

Any changes that are to be made as options, my guess can be sorted out with a PM?

        • @hamster0069: I'm not buying this PC, but I've got to say, this guy's service is exceptional. He read the posts here and responded.

      • The PSU upgrade would be nice, i'd personally prefer something white :P but cant be too picky.

      • Strongly considering buying this. Would be great if it comes the upgraded power supply!
Could we get the option to upgrade to 16gb of faster ram?

        • how to upgrade to the case and PSU?

        • Ram Upgrade Link is posted below

    • good rep

    • +1

So, this is the best price we can come up with for a Pair of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM @ 3000 Mhz

      Upgrade Link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152906918080 @ $169.95

  • +5

FYI guys. This is the part list from msy.com.au
    - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 $ 258
    - nvidia GTX 1080 8gb $ 849
    - 8GB G.Skill 2133mhz $ 139
    - 1TB WD blue Hard drive $ 59
    - DeepCool USB3.0 Tesseract BF Black $ 35
    - Cosair VS 550 $ 59
    - SATA DVD RW Asus $ 18
    - AMD Prime B350M-A $ 119

    TOTAL $1,536

Don't think you are really saving to be honest. Only thing of value is the graphics card, rest is garbage.

    • Something to be said for: Built & delivered (usually an extra $70 or so), and not from MSY (who often sell dodgy components, especially when they're $100 under the market rate - e.g. GTX1080)

There's nothing garbage about these components. It's all sweet spot / mainstream stuff, except the HDD which is lousy, but can be upgraded to a 480GB Intel for $160.

The main benefit here is simply the eBay 20% discount.

      • +3

MSY dont sell dodgy components (anymore than any other store), they have dodgy customer service/returns.
I have bought parts for around 30PCs from MSY and only ever had 1 problem, a CPU fan header on a motherboard not working and it was easily returned for replacement.

      • All the components are the cheapest in their class except for the graphics card. Don't know what your on about. The dead give away is the 550 watt power supply for a 1080, you can even google the answer if you don't know.

    • Thanks for doing this maths! It worked out slightly cheaper for someone else:

      CPU: AMD 6-Core Ryzen 5 1600 $258
      Motherboard: B350 $85
      RAM: 2133Mhz 8GB $119
      Storage: 1TB 7200rpm 3.5 Inch Desktop HDD $59
      Video Card: Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X 256-Bit $849
Power Supply: 550W High Efficiency Power Supply $55
Optical Drive: DVD Writer Optical Drive $19
Default Case:DeepCool Tesseract White SW $35
      Total: $1479

Ultimately, I don't need the DVD, the HDD or the case, so the money I'd save is being waster anyway.

  • good to see that EVERYONE who buys one gets a full list of the parts used - their serial numbers - with apparently the applicable warranty for each part according to

'phunkydude 2 hours 43 min ago new

the invoice will list all the individual parts with serial no.

same as you were to buy all individual parts without assembly'

But shouldn't that be accompanied by associated label?

That's a bit worrying especially since PlushToys 1 hour 48 min ago new said

'I did not have each individual part listed'.

maybe the associated person could clarify those points?

    Associatedhamster0069 15 min ago

    • +1

We generally don't provide a Tax invoice with the item serial numbers attached unless you request for it, we will provide a regular Tax Invoice for Tax and warranty purposes.

There is a 2 years Return to Base warranty for all of our computer systems and then after that it will depend on the warranty period of the individual part.

  • I agree not much of a deal. If you buy all the components during the 20% promotion it comes down to around 1250 with better quality components.

  • Well delivery is normally $50 and assembly is $40.

  • Can you also tweak the 7700k 1080ti build.
There are similar builds on eBay with faster ram and better boards.

Would rather a better motherboard if I had to pick one.
Better ram and case would be great too.

Will order one in a heart beat if you can tweak it.

    • +2

Let me see what we can do =)

      • Thanks buddy.
Any chance you can match pcmeal ?

      • Wouldn't mind a Ryzen5 + 1080TI deal.
I always like to mix Red and green teams.
The 1080 is junk for mining.

        • I would say go intel if you are going a Ti to make use of the card as the AMD's just can't compare once you get to that level.
But if you are only going to mine and not play 2k-4k gaming AMD should be OK.

I would suggest looking at reviews that compare the 1600 vs the 7700k with a 1080Ti is a rather significant performance difference.
Just really don't want the H110 board.

        • @Phreaker: only mining with the card. I have 4 ti's hooked up to a Celeron lol

      • yeah just had a look, a tweak to that and id jump as well

      • Same case, bonus 600w PSU and ram speed upgrade applied?

        • a motherboard upgrade would also be nice.
Those H110 boards are not very good and it would be nice to have the ability to expand in the future.

      • Maybe you can pay the Intel tweaks in this post? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/365511

  • -4

Its asking too much , i would expect it to be $999

    • +2

Have you checked the prices of these parts? I mean I'd like it to be 199 but we need to be realistic.

  • Just a question about applying the discount (first time shopping through ebay).

The website is asking us to commit to the purchase before we are able to apply the discount code, will we be able to apply it later or should I have clicked a different link?

    • Before you pay you will see an area on the eBay checkout page that will ask you for coupons or vouchers, simply enter the code there to apply the 20% discount

  • +1

So we have just updated the listing with a new default case and a free upgrade to a 600W power supply

    • what make is the GPU? stock or something else?

      • It depends on how many orders we get and how many GPU's we have in stock, the brand may vary through the course of the deal if we run out of stock on a certain brand

  • What ssd would you guys recommend? Want about 240gb

  • Anychance we can get this deal with an intel 8700kinstead? Happy to pay a little extra, just never been a fan of AMD. All in all fantastic deal though, thats the only thing stopping me pulling the trigger.

    • Seconded

    • +1

We have just released our i7 8700K with 120gb SSD and 1080 here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152937555853 for $1775.20 after the 20% promotion code

      • Are there any tweaks to sweeten the deal you linked like @hamster0069 has made?

    • That may be but without Ryzen, Intel would still sit on its ass and this CPU could have be 4 cores and 8 threads if Intel has its way. Thanks to AMD, Intel has to add more cores at a lower price. So its a win-win for consumer regardless of your fanboysim.

  • +1

Currently researching doing a Ryzen 1700 build on the x370 motherboard and was about to pull the trigger on the components, however I just read that the newer platform x470 will be release next month and it will have more PCIE lanes (more m.2 slot using PCEI Gen 3 x 4), higher DDR4 speeds support (4000MHz) and better overclocking of the CPU. So IMHO I would wait for a few more weeks to see how the new platform playout before building a Ryzen computer.

  • Extremely fast delivery. Got it on Tuesday

  • Hi, I recently purchased this computer with an upgrade to 240gb SSD and 16GB ram. I just plugged it in and tried turning it on for the first time but the monitor is not getting any signal from HDMI or VGA inputs. Is there meant to be another step before we are able to install the operating system?

    • Just realised that I had plugged the HDMI cable into the motherboard port. When I plugged it into the graphics card port it worked fine. My mistake!

  • +1

After using the computer i was curious to check if they upgraded the ram to 2400 Mhz but I can only see 2133 Mhz…..

    Image: http://puu.sh/zLxSF/287c4bd26a.png

Whats up with that? Rep said that there would be a free upgrade..
