This website has enough childish comments mate. :)

      • No, you need to shore up your double entendre skillz. Eg, see Watchnerd's comment immediately below yours.

        • -1

yes yes yes, I have contacted Watchnerd to ask if I can be his new apprentice.

  • +9

Thanks Op, my wife has worn out my old nozzle.

    • +2

You must be a good gardena

      • +5

        Low blow. They're actually fun-sized.

      • He's not known as the surprise packet for nothing

    • Mine drips repeatedly.

  • +24

Who pays more than $2 for one of these??

    • +32

And it was $16.89??? They are dreaming.

      • They're in LALALAND!

    • +1

Im happy to pay a bit more than $2 for one of these, if the quality and lastability is better (which according to comments below everything Gardenia brand built to last).
I have bought several of the cheapest you can get hose fittings, they seem to go brittle from the sun/weather and break after a while.
That said, I wouldn't pay $16. I think I paid $3-$5 for mine from markets, a quality metal fitting, after getting very fed up with a hose fitting which is rarely used, just breaking 1 day after a year outside in sun.

  • Don't know where that $16.89 came from. They are always this price.

Brought a few of these a month back, they are cheap and nasty but should last a couple of years. There are also cheaper ones.

    • +32

      Where did you bring them?

      • +1

Only 20 + votes to WatchNerd?!? Maybe half the folk reading it don't get it ;).
        Underrated comment and very funny.

    • Do you realise that these are Gardena right?
I haven't found anything that lasts as long or better quality than Gardena (given its price point & availability). Sure it can be expensive, but it lasts.
That said, these are not allowed in Victoria, given the permanent stage 1 water restrictions.

      • Cool! looks like I lucked onto the bargain early then.

I still can't imagine paying $16.89 for them but will take your word they are that good.

I also got some of the cheaper Aqua systems ones to try so it will be interesting to see how they compare.

        • Aqua systems are as cheap as you can get, and they leak for that reason. IMO Pope are the best. Them and probably hose link look like they'd be the business. Haven't tried those. I also prefer metal for longevity over plastic generally. I don't have that much experience with Gardena to be fair, but the picture looks…not worth >$6 to me by any means.

        • +1

          True.
          I'd never pay $16.89 for it, I'd want a bargain :-)

        • @rhino015:
With hose link the middle of the connection that locks stays good as promised but the threaded sections that attach to accessories and taps fail within a year or two. Even very expensive brass hose fittings go kaput when the spring loaded parts fail in the connections. I've come to the conclusion that all hose fittings are throw away items.

        • @BartholemewH: Interesting to know. Which bit do you mean by the spring loaded parts? I guess the bits that screw onto the tap itself, and the bits that screw onto a sprinkler are all going to be roughly the same on the tap end, but I've found the metal ones of those last quite a while if you tighten them once with a little thread tape and just don't ever touch them again haha. Also the bits where the hose attaches to the end connection can often start to leak, I've found. Pressed on fittings are good for that.

      • and thats why Im proud to be living in Qld today.

pretty much anything made by Gardena is not cheap and nasty, everything I've had lasts for ages

        +1 …

  • +2

LOL how is this even a bargain…

Aren't these banned under permanent water saving measures in some areas?

    • +6

I thought so too. Plus, I don't know why you'd get one of these over a trigger nozzle.

      • +1

Yep, who would want something without a trigger these days?

      • +1

Yep definitely agree. I used to mix concrete with this type and you can sort of stop the flow to a degree but it still leaks a bit of water still. The trigger nozzles (even the cheapies from K-Mart) are better because you’re not forever wasting water when trying to change the spray style etc.

A bargain way for that guy with neighbor dispute over parked car, to get back at his neighbor some more. Put hose fitting on out front, then call council on him

      • +1

$2 is cheaper than hiring bikies.

  • Thanks OP, been looking for something that can give me a nice hard jet :)

  • +2

Don't think I've ever paid more than $3 for one of these…

  • +4

Or you could order the aqua systems hose for 3 cents less. :-)

    • +1

Exactly what I was going to say. I’ve used this brand for years and haven’t had any problems whatsoever.

  • +3

about$6 normally buys you a 15m hose with all the fittings.

    • +1

Only good for cutting up into 3.5" lengths though.

I see what you did there ;) Do you use the 1L Powerade bottle?

  • +1

Only floor stock in some store.

  • +3

    $16.89 RRP. What a joke.

  • +4

Just put your thumb over the end of the hose. Cost: free.

      Best comment I've ever read

  • Currently at Bunnings Springvale looking at this and similar items. I believe price hipster made a mistake.
First, there is no indication this item has been marked down recently.
Second, holding one in my hand it is obvious that it's quality similar to other similar items around the 2-3 dollar mark.
Finally, there is a more heavyduty version made by gardena called
GARDENA 19mm Maxi-Flo™ Adjustable Spray Nozzle
$15.90. I would no be surprised that it this was the item pricehipster have been tracking.

  • Work at a car yard and got excited there for a bit. Thought they were the handy two mode trigger jobs that no one seems to stock anymore. :(

  • I bought Gardenia stuff yes they last longer than other cheap plastics but we have one of the worlds highest UV index and no UV stabilised plastic is going to last.

You want cheap garden parts you buy a brass item. The metal will last three generations all that might perish and cheap replacement is the o-ring if you don't lube it.

The plastic throw away parts cost stack up slowly over time and it isn't cheap anymore.
