[NSW] Bertocchi Semi Boneless Leg Ham, $1.25 /Kg, Woolworths (Greenway)

122

First time poster, went to Woolworths Greenway this morning, Bertocchi Semi Boneless Leg Ham on markdown from $8 per kg to $1.25 per kg. Not sure if this applies to other stores. There were around 50 on the shelves this morning.

I just got over the Xmas ham overload but could not resist another round at this price 😋

even broccoli at $1.25/kg is cheap.

    • …expensive broccoli is very annoying ….$6.99 kg > wtf?

short dated price cuts are not bargains

  • +5

It's out of date food, that's why it's discounted. No deal.

    • +4

Wouldn't that would be against the law?

      • +4

        Do you need this?

        • +2

          I didn't do nothing, lol.

  • …mmmmmmm…..silvery, opalescent ham <drool>

    Semi Boneless

I get them in the morning when I wake up.

$5 for 4kg of Christmas ham. Short use by though.
Unless the packaging explicitly said not to, I would cut it all up, freeze it and just take out the parts I'm wanting to eat.

Otherwise, I would buy one of these for lunch and see how much I can stuff in before I'm sick :P

Be careful - bought this when it was 50% off about a few weeks ago. The ham was best before May 2018 (Yes, there were best before Mar ones too). It was supposedly cured, followed the instructions and cut some to accompany pasta at dinner. Had bad food poisoning overnight. Took a couple of days to feel normal again.

Brought back to woolworths, suggested they take off the shelve before they did more harm, especially if susceptible people (elderly, pregnant etc) were to eat them. They refunded and promised to do so.

It is quite possible I was just unlucky and got a bad one, and the rest were fine.

The only positive from it was rapid weight loss. The loss of appetite after that continued for days, so lose a few pounds :-)

…win…..now you have room for extra dominos this week :P

        and maccas!

…and connoisseur ice cream! …but only when its on sale at half price ;)

Funny you should say that … it was one of the first items I had appetite for after recovering from food poisoning.
And since I stocked up when half-price, it was the guilt-free daily treat since, with waffle cone, no less :-)

          Shhhh bluesky…
Mods may be in some sort of Tuesday night torpor and are possibly dozing…

The following will cheer you from thoughts of your food poisoning episode, but you should nonetheless keep an eye on yourself.
Just in case you need to be drenched, for worms. :)

For some reason I never went looking for a related instagram after seeing those ps youtube videos, but stumbled on one just a few days ago, anyway.

          Amazing macro, and colours.

I reckon performances as colourful as anything that you might see at your beloved theatre shows, bluesky, you know aside from maybe your upchucks in the aisle following a pre-show dinner…

          :-)

@Dne: Hey T, how are you? Really appreciate the warning. I just assumed it was the usual stuff we hear about, like salmonella. A bit repulsive to think worms could be involved! And more unsettling, a potential 2nd phase to come with muscle ache etc. Not relishing … Thanks muchly and will keep an eye out. Fingers cross it will be alright.

Great pics & videos. Always put a smile on my face. Yes, as colourful and spectacular as any theatre shows humans can put on (don’t remind about upchucks – still sensitive :-) )

Back at you – a cute story I came across just the other day – Sheep who thinks he is a dog Enjoy! :-)

@bluesky: Hi bluesky. I have been considerably better than you have been, by the sound of it… :)

OzBargain comment avoidance clearly remains patchy, but will properly take at some point.

I didn't see that BBC story. Very cute.

I can vouch for the fact that sheep are as keen, or even keener in their eating of various dry dog food, than many dogs can be - and can actually go a bit rogue in their efforts to get to it. Imagine an OzBargainer just beyond reach of a bargain - a bit like that, but woollier…

          :-)

Exchanging good cheer is beneficial, cannot imagine a problem :-)

The image this evokes is gold, LOL! Have a great day! :-)

        • @bluesky: You've gone a bit quiet, bluesky, how's your tum been. Following the trauma?

A full recovery with no sign of worms? Enquiring minds, Wish to Know. :)

Should I have linked that in the what to bring back from Japan, thread?
          Those three, plus the tree?

Nah. He'd need to charter an Antonov 225. Just a bit exe…
          Details!

          :-)

Happy to report a full recovery for self :-). But health crisis of another family member is reason for less time on this forum at this time (and possibly late replies too).

          Those three, plus the tree?

Yes, I second bringing these cuties back … All that Japanese description, but no mention of the English name for them. Some sort of squirrel, I assume? Whatever they are, what a winning shot!

I hope you are keeping well - judging from the cheery note, a yes … Thanks Tas, and Goodnight :-)
