  • What are the odds of this thing working with a Linux system? Just out of curiosity..

  • Shame no 64bit option.

    • I had another cheapie very similar to this one that worked fine natively under Win7 64bit ultimate with MCE! ;)

    • Hey Davo,
we just tested the STB10USB on a 64bit Windows 7 computer and it works fine and the drivers install automatically without a hassle.

We've also changed the product description to include 64bit OS in the requirements, instead of just 32bit.

    • Yeah I've got the exact same ones $20 from DX "WandTV"

They plug and play with Win7 x64 MCE, I use 2 of them.

They are a bit unstable when they get warm - they just record a blue screen which is annoying. I have recently cracked open the plastic shell and am running them bare board, and that seems to help a lot.

How does this make your laptop an "Ultimate Media Centre" ???

How is it different from other USB tv tuners ???

    • This one comes with a quick installation guide??? :p

      • +3

        Good point, i don't like slow installation guides… :S

    • Doesn't seem too "ultmate-y" to me :)

DVB-T radio is not DAB radio

  • I bought one of these from eBay ($13.00) a while ago, I believe it's just a rebadged version of the OEM "WandTV" sticks that you can buy off Deal Extreme for $18 USD.

Can't complain with the picture quality but the stick does get very hot with prolonged use.
The included software sucks as well, the UI is terribad and don't think it supports Win 7 x64.

Best to use Windows media center.

  • friend bought one of these for fun… was a bit skeptical, but works great.. $7.87 aud… similar to those DX/focalprice sites with free shipping..

saw a bloke trying to flog these off for $50 at a stall in the local shopping centre… haha

    • Good price. Shame you can't directly connect it to a bigger aerial (eg. via co-ax like the one posted by the OP) as a fallback.

      • I'd be willing to wager you could easily snip the crap aerial off that cable (those things are nigh on useless anyway; whack on a cheap coax connector and plug it straight into your rooftop cable/socket! Cheap adapter!!! ;)

      • You just plug an aerial into the side (can't you see the gold-coloured plug on the antenna lead?)… just need an adapter if you want to use a coax flylead

        • Yes, I did see it (and the mini aerial!) but thanks for so politely pointing it out! It's obviously better if an average user doesn't need to additionally buy an adaptor or guess which one one might work. That was my point - in Aust most homes would have a coax connector to a larger aerial.

This ultimate laptop add on sure beats my 50" tv :)

    • +3

ROFL, you got negged for that…man there's some humourless gits around!!! Fixed! ;)

  • Just wonder how it works?
Plug in my laptop and watch TV on train/bus?

    • +1

Theoretically yes - but your ability to get a stable transmission/reception will be close to negligible

  • I got the same thing but different brand from dealextreme for 9USD delivered.
