impressive price for a usb c charging port, ta OP

    • cheers :)

    • +1

Yes but only 15W from USB C is kinda low. Otherwise I woulda jumped on it.

      • +12

It won't survive you jumping on it regardless.

Great price but I couldn't betray my Xiaomi power bank..
Actually that's quite the bargain there, especially if you want something to get you over the C&C thresholds :)

    • +2

yeah.. but I think Xiaomi needs partner now. think about it :D

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

    Bought 2x.

    • +2

      wow 2.. enjoy..

      • +2

        How is that suprising lol

        • It's his deal. More comments

I seriously was just sitting on the bus thinking that I should get a type c bank, and this pops up lol! Still had a gift card from a while back to cover the cost, thank you!

    • +10

Oh man so that was you .. I was trying telepathy and received some random message about it so posted this deal ;-)
      Cheers ..!!

  • what’s the benefit of having USB c charging port? It can charge any phone faster?

    • +1

I bought one just for the convenience that I don't have to change cables with my phone charger (USB Type C).

    • Maybe if you connect it to a MacBook with a male to male USB C cable on either end, you can charge the MacBook?

  • 3.0A as per https://www.cygnett.com/products/6000mah-usb-c-power-bank-in…

Looks like it does not come with the Type-C cable, does it ?

    • No it does not come with a USB-C cable.

  • You can get a 10000mAh type C for $29 delivered from Kogan

  • Are they any good?

    • I had two cygnett powerbanks. They were both shit. Built in micro usb cables stopped working after a couple of weeks.

  • Was eyeing this at JB the other week - got one! Thanks OP

  • +1

Cygnett advertise how fast these charges your device etc…. but they don't even provide the type c cable. So they won't charge any quicker unless you fork out extra for the cable. How annoying.

    • +1

Gotta cut their costs somewhere. They assume you'll use your OEM cable.

  • Ordered. Thanks OP!

  • Surely a Xiaomi is better value? If only there was a decent deal. Thanks though OP.

    • +1

USB-C Xiaomi's are considerably more expensive.

      • +2

Recent deal was $30 for 10ah

      • Forgive my significant ignorance but is there any benefit of a USB-C one? Apart from obvious you need to connect to a USB-C device.

        • +1

Not needing to carry a micro USB cable to charge the battery.

The USBC ones may also support USBC PD which will be beneficial if your device doesn't support Qualcomm Quick Charge and the same when it comes to charging the battery pack. With most phones having Qualcomm chips I don't know if this is much of an issue

        • @spaceflight: Thanks for the educative answer!

  • How is the closest store to pick up from in a different state?

    • +1

Because it's the closest one with stock?

      • I guess so but why even show that as an option. At least limit it to my state or a km radius from the post code I put in. oh well I might just go with the Kogan one for an extra $4.

    • price match jb

  • Do good guys deliver to parcel lockers (Australian post)?

    • If you sign up to my post, you can make your delivery address a my post locker. It’s just like delivering to any address. Then you can pick it up.

  • Would this do USB C Power Delivery?

  • bought yesterday for $29 from good guys. went back today and got the different refunded and purchased another.

  • I got this error message when trying to order online- using home delivery, "The Entered Address does not have any delivery available. Please try a different address"

  • Can you charge a MacBook with this?

  • I went to TGG Malaga and they said they had no stock left, but online it says stock is available there and I can pick it up? Maybe the system hasn't updated? I ordered online anyway and hope they get some more stock.

    • should've walked on over to jb and price matched. same parent company anyway

  • Anyone know if this is strong enough to charge the Nintendo Switch in portable mode?

    • +2

      Stolen from @navgsc :

No, you need a high capacity USB-C PD (power delivery) power bank.

    Thanks OP, got one!
For Google Pixel owners, i've charged it through USB C and get the "charging rapidly" symbol, from 30% to full in about 1hr and got the charger to 57%.

Although the instructions say to charge through micro usb, i've used the usb c port plugged to my pixel 2 charger and charge the powerbank to full. great price for this size. you can get xiaomi for 10000mah, but i dont foresee charging more than 2 devices with the powerbank so its good for me.

  • Hi OP,

Looking at getting a power bank to charge a Motorola Moto G, as the battery no longer lasts through the day.

Is this the better option Vs Xiaomi?

    Thanks

PS. Anyone know how to go about replacing an internal battery on Moto G 3, and if it's worth it, or are built-in batteries designed to make the product obsolete?

  • +1

What kills it, is the size and weight of it.
If you are at a festival, work day or a day out etc… Carrying that thing around is inconvenient.
10000mAh is about 3-5 full charges depending on your phone. Bit of overkill for when you only charge once or twice only.

I much prefer a slimline compact 3000mAh or so, to get me a full charge and that's more than plenty.
Also if your phone support quick charge, it helps a lot.

This is suitable for camping and maybe long haul flights, but most planes have USB and power plugs on board anyways.

My opinion of course, everyone has different needs.

    • Totally agree, What’s the smallest & lightest powerbank of your choice then?

      • For small factor:
        https://www.chargerharbor.com/10-best-small-3000mah-5000mah-…

(I'd go the KMASHI Compact for the higher output voltage, means faster phone charging)

For large capacity and smaller-size-than-this-post factor:
near a credit card size just thicker, It has quick charge, if your phone supports it, it's great.
Doubt it is 10000mah, but even at 7000mah, it's good value for size for options value.
        https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/oncom-10000mah-quick-charge-30-…

        side notes:
        - always buy a power bank or charger that can output at least 2A (most cheapies are 1V output). This would mean the phone/power banks are charged faster.
Same applies for cigarette plug in the car, get ones that can output 2A on the port.
        - There are smaller power banks, around the 1500mmAh like a credit card size ones that fit in the wallet. But expect them to be around 800mAh-1200mAh true capacity. But again, that's about a good 3-5hrs charge.

    • Can you please give us some example of exactly what you would recommend then? Cheers.

      • yep, see my reply on the comment above

    • Completely agree 100% any good slim, light, with QuickCharge in/out?

      • yep, see my reply on the comment above

  • So the real mAh of a xiaomi pro 10000 is 7000mAh. Is this one really 6000mAh, or less?

    http://www.mi.com/en/pb10000pro/

    • Lol how Can they say that it's 10ah then?

      • No idea.

      • +1

All power banks are affected by this and not just Xiaomi. I'm glad Xiaomi prints out their actual output capacity.

The internal batteries does indeed hold 10000mAh but at 3.7V. Converting it to a usable 5V and the loss of energy through the conversion makes the effective output much less. The capacity will be lower as voltage goes higher but it's not so bad since you'll be charging quicker and require less hours (the 'h' part of the capacity).

  • Just get a Romoss branded one from Ebay. Most of the cygnett stuff is rebranded Romoss with a ridiculous price tag.

Just a heads up, this is on "backorder" now…

  • Harvey Norman at Bondi Junction would not price match, but were happy for me to pay $40.

  • Ordered via TGG website on Thursday. I got a call this morning to say they couldn't fulfil the order (out of stock) and will refund $ :(

  • Backorder aswell
