Just a general note about Shell: I find their prices consistently 5-10 cents more than nearby servos in Melbourne.

    • sometimes can be more than 15 cents

  • What are some of the ways to get a discount, other than shopping at Coles

If you only mean shell, there’s not really another way you can save.

If you mean petrol in general; 5% off WISH Cards through CR and fill up @ Woolies Servos. Or 7/11 fuel app lock-in saves quite a bit.

      • Yeah I am currently using the AMEX Platinum Edge + 5% CR for woolies servos which is a nice discount. Just was hoping Shell might have a similar case.

      • Not worth buying the woolworths gift cards. Cheapest Woolworths Caltex is 10c per litre more than the cheapest local independent servo.

    • $20 in store for 10 c off.

      • Unless you need copious amounts of bog roll and milk, what else is there to buy that isn't overpaying at Coles Express? Food generally is poor value with the exception of fresh milk.

In my area, Shell's pricing is consistently 10-15 cents per litre over its competitors. So by limiting the refuel strictly to 30 litres, one would be able to save $0.5 to $1.5 ($5 value for 1,000 flybuy points). Every cent counts for a Ozbargainer!

  • receive discount 10c per liter and 200 bonus points offer valid when purchase 30L fuel.

    Thanks OP for remind

I won't, but I'm tempted to neg just because as above, Coles Express is consistently more expensive in Melbourne for fuel compared to every other servo. If you value those 1000 points and want to take advantage of this deal, make sure you buy only 30 litres. No less, no more!

Targeted? Nothing in my Flybuys account.

i think its targeted, i've had a couple of these offers recently, but I note that they only send them out during the peaks in the petrol price cycle, so it hasn't helped me personally as I try to time my fuel buying to when the petrol price is low, and I normally have enough petrol to make it through the price peaks. .

  • I have not used Shell in years due to their ridiculously high fuel prices, but if anyone does want to use this offer, it might be worth stacking with the 4c fuel voucher (when spend over $30 at Coles) and also getting an extra 10c off per litre by spending $20 in store at Cole Express (eg: buy 2 x Quilton 20 pack toilet rolls at $10 each, same price as Coles).

  • My local Shell is about 0.20c + more expensive.

So the minimum 30L would cost me $6 more and I get back $5.

Good deal if you can find a Shell that's cheaper than other servos, I've never seen one.

  • Coles express prices are a joke. I went to use this offer and the price for premium unleaded was $1.77L at Coles express. Drove approx 2k down the road to the local independant who was only $1.37L. Instantly saved $20 as i filled up 50L at a discount of .40c per litre.
